Wednesday Random Thoughts

I'll warn everyone ahead of time - this is going to be a totally random post of the thoughts that are running through my head at the moment. Don't expect it to be cohesive or make any kind of sense. Not that my usual posts are all that stellar and well written to begin with.My dear friend BEV @ SCRATCHIN' THE SURFACE is writing a series of posts about The Apostles' Creed and her beliefs as a Christian. Very well written and thought provoking, and the comments and discussion are some good stuff! Check it out HERE if you're so inclined. Scroll down for older posts in the series.Another dear friend has just started a brand spankin' new blog. After reading and commenting on other blogs for a long time, my friend SAMMY @ I THINK I CAN, I THINK I CAN... has took the plunge and started a blog. If you'd like to help me welcome her to the Blogosphere, click HERE.It is Summer in Arkansas, no matter what the calendar says. It is approximately 147ºF right now. Or 94ºF and so humid you can wring the moisture out of the air. Same thing.Vacation Bible School is going well. We had 3 kids and 1 adult saved on Tuesday night. Woo hoo! We're having homemade trail mix every night for snack. The kitchen crew adds different stuff every night. Last night they added chocolate chips to the mix. I don't care for chocolate much, and I discovered that I REALLY don't care for popcorn after it's sat next to the chocolate chips too long in my trail mix. Blech. I gave most of my trail mix away to a less picky person.I don't like most flavored drinks, especially Kool*Aid. And that blue stuff they're drinking for VBS? Ick! Smells like a stink bug to me.I think I'm going to have fried egg sandwiches on toast for supper. It's too hot to cook much and that just sounds good tonight. Our cordless phones have suddenly developed an annoying chirp every half hour or so. Base and both hand sets. What's up with that??I'm out of oil for cooking. Maybe JESSICA will be going to the grocery store on Friday and I can ride with her to pick up some oil. I know I'm supposed to be cooking healthier stuff, but I find it's terribly difficult if not impossible to fry chicken without oil. Speaking of JESSICA, she and Jason had Emmy's one year pictures made and she got them back yesterday. I'll try to scan some of them soon to post here on the blog. Some of them are really good.Lamar is listening to some of his classic '70's CD's on our DVD player in the living room. I still love the music as much almost 30 (!) years later as I did when it was new. Michael Martin Murphy's "Wild Fire" is playing now. So poignant, and oh, the memories! The angry beast in my tummy, it growls for sustenance. Also the angry beast in the living room is growling for vittles. So I'll wrap up this scintillating narrative (ooh! Billy Swan's "I Can Help" is playing! Good stuff!) and go singe some bread and fry some undeveloped chicken embryos for supper.

(Undeveloped chicken embryos just doesn't sound appetizing at all, does it?)Y'all have a great Wednesday evening and rest of your week.

I love random posts like this!

Cordless phones chirping? Maybe a new battery pack is needed? I know you can get them on-line, but I don't have a site handy to give you.

Must have oil for frying. How else could you fry chicken?

I'm looking forward to seeing Emmy's pictures - she's such a doll baby!

And I love your description of dinner!

Diane,

I think your phone might need a new battery. Mine beeps (like my smoke alarm) when it's time to be replaced.

Fried egg sandwiches...yum. My husband has a dinner meeting tonight so it's just me and the kids. I bet I can talk them into egg sandwiches.

Have fun at VBS, and try to stay cool. I can't believe ya'll are that hot already!

I just love undeveloped chicken embryo salad! With mayo! Yummmm.....

Diane, Thank you SO much for giving me a shout-out on your blog. You are so kind and thoughtful. And reading the comments from you absolutely made my day!

Sounds like VBS is going really well! I'm so glad. I think programs like that are so good for children, and it's thanks to people like you and Jessica who are willing to put the time and energy in.

Have a great rest of the week!

Hey Diane, I'll trade ya a little of that heat for some of my rain and 50 degree temps. I't been shivering cold in these here hills!
I guess I'd pass on the eggs. I really don;t care for them. I had a supper of potoaoes & gravy, baked chicken and buttered peas tonight. Me tumtum is a happy thing. I've had a craving for gravy lately.

I went over and left Sammy a comment! Hope I didn't scare her half to death with my ramblings!

Glad VBS is going well. So many churches are having it right now. Ours is coming up soon too.

Those fried chicken embryo's sound awful put that way!!

Someone else already suggested it, but I'm with them - check the batteries - might be the problem. Funny, I dont really like chocolate but I love chocolate covered popcorn...so I probably would have eaten it if I'd been there. thanks for the link to my posts, I've really appreciated all your support this week. xoxox Bev

Hi Diane,
I enjoyed the randomness of this post. It's like sitting down for a visit with a good friend :) I think I'll pass on the chicken embryo sandwiches if I happen by at lunch time. You guys just go ahead without me!

I wonder if the chirping in your phones means the batteries are getting low? At least, that's what it means when the smoke detectors start chirping. Of course, it could also mean crickets got up in there, in which case you might want to hold the receiver just a smidge away from your ear.

I can see where it would be hard to fry chicken, or fully developed chicken embryos, without oil. LOL

You crack me up when you ramble, Diane. xoxoxo

OK, so NOW I read the other comments and I'm the fourth person to suggest dying batteries. But hey! I was the first one to say it might be crickets!

Random thoughts are fun. My attention span isn't that great tonight anyway, so short snippets are to be desired.

Fried egg sandwiches sound good!!! I haven't had one in years! Maybe for breakfast today!

Finally got that calendar on my blog! I wasn't copying everything! It said to copy everything between the dotted lines, but there were 3 dotted lines, and I was only copying between 2 of them! DUH! LOL Also, check out my little black kitty on there, too!

I'll be sure to check out Sammy's new blog later today!

I'll keep checking back for Emmy's photos! With a smile like hers, they just have to be cute!!!

We lived in Conway, Arkansas for a couple years and I remember the oppressive humidity. It just about did me in!

I agree about the cordless phone issue -- it sounds like new batteries are needed. That's what smoke detectors do when the batteries get low.

Definately off the wall thoughts...too funny though. And I'm not much on eggs anyways and I think my tummy just turned, but anyways...I did add sitemeter and im not sure if Im gonna do bloglines or not yet. I will see you afterwhile and i will bring you some oil.

I have thoroughly enjoyed your "rambles" Diane. Sounds like your weather is exactly like ours. I've complained and complained, but then after viewing the scenes of flooding in Iowa and other places I am just feeling thankful and so sad for those poor people. Just awful!
Praises for those saved at VBS - makes it all (even the less than appetizing food) worthwhile.
I love that little picture of Emmy in your sidebar. What a sweet face!
Blessings dear friend.

Hey Diane,
random thoughts are fun, don't you think? They don't have to be connected, or even make sense but they do creat great comments and can make us go hmmmmm..
Thanks for your comments for me and I wanted to say that I was unaware that you had such severe arthritis or used a cane. I know it is very painful at times and makes doing things harder. When I first left the hospital after being there for 3 months, I came home in a wheelchair and eventually to a walker. Talk about starting all over. I hope you are able to get out (not in 147degrees of course) :) but when the cool breeze is blowing and you can breathe the fresh air.

I love rambling posts - which must be why I do them so often.

VBS is exhausting - but so worth it!

At first you had my mouth watering, it's been ages since I've had a hot egg sandwich! [with butter on my bread too of course]...but when you put it like "undeveloped chicken embryos" I lost my appetite. Giggles.

I would love some of the homemade trail mix...do you have the recipe to share with us?

I'm on my way to welcome your new friend to blogging!!

And hope the humidity thins out for you. We here in the coastal Texas area have a lot of it too.

Hope your week has been super. And here's to a wonderful weekend.

Diane,

It has been beautiful here the last two days but the first of the week it was 104F with high humidity. That is nasty. I don't mind the heat but the humidity kills me.

I like eggs but don't want to be eating any undeveloped chicken embryos. LOL That sounds so disgusting.

Thanks for your kind words and support about Brandon. He is doing much better today. He is not as depressed and is going back to school tomorrow.

Take care, my friend. I hope it cools down in your neck of the woods.

Blessings,
Mary

Hi Diane,

I'm glad to see a post from you in the middle of the week, and a very newsy post at that.

I don't think I would like popcorn in my trail mix under any circumstance, lol. Doesn't sound good at all.

It's been really hot here the last few days. We did get some much needed rain today, but we could have used more.

I'll check out the new blogger's site to welcome her.

Have a good day tomorrow, Diane.

Thanks for coming by to read my blog, sweetie. I figured I'd find some "fans" of the Time Bandit out there. Andy Hillstrand is a friend of ours.

Yummy! Fried eggs on toast is one of my favorites! We also used to have fried egg sandwiches when I was growing up. Still love 'em! I grew up with the 70's stuff too and boy did those titles bring back memories!

Your heat wave sounds horrid! I just think I'd wilt if I had to be in the humidity!

God bless you ~ Julie

I dropped by for a visit with Sammy. Looks like hers will be a fun read.
Have a great weekend.
