A Little Of This, A Little Of That.....

I know it's been a while since I've posted when I start getting emails and comments from concerned friends and family, wondering if something is wrong at La Casa de Jennings.

Nope, nothing wrong here, I've just been really busy, starting with last Sunday.

Jessica and Jason picked me up after morning services at my church and we went to a Mexican restaurant for lunch. It was pretty good, although I ate so much of the complimentary salsa and chips that I couldn't finish all the food I actually ordered and paid for.

While we waited for our food to be brought to us, I took a few pictures. This was my first attempt. Don't they look just thrilled to have their picture made?

Do you notice a slight difference after I asked them to "Smile, for Pete's sake!?"

After we finished our meal, we went back to Jessica and Jason's apartment so they could clean out their cars and vacuum them.

Jessica's Granny's (Lamar's Mom's) church gave Jessica a baby shower Sunday afternoon and we knew they would probably need both cars to transport the gifts back to their apartment. And we were correct!

This picture shows some of the gifts before Jessica
started opening them. That's a W*nnie the Pooh
stroller/carrier/car seat travel system in the
right foreground, and she also received a matching

high chair that's not shown in the pictures. Here's a closeup of the cake. I was still
too full from dinner so I didn't eat any cake,
but the other ladies said it was delicious.
Jessica and her Granny.
Jessica shows off a gift as one
of the hostesses prepares to
hand her another gift to open.
The glowing Mama-to-be.Almost a belly pic, but not quite.Jessica, Jason and Emmy were blessed
with an abundance of wonderful gifts.Jessica, Jason and the gifts.Monday morning I went to Jonesboro and
shopped for the month. I usually do my
shopping for household items like laundry
detergent, toiletries, cat food and such
the first of each month. I'm always worn
out on shopping days. My arthritis kills me
after all the walking I have to do.
Due to Cecil's mother-in-law's illness
and hospitalization
she and Sue didn't
come to my place to visit on Monday
and Tuesday like they usually do.
Cecil's MIL has cancer all over her
body and is most likely terminal,
unless God intervenes, and soon.
Lamar came home early Tuesday
morning from visiting his brother
in Texas. He didn't stay nearly as
long as he usually does. He came
home early because he was afraid
Jessica might go into labor and have
the baby before he could make it home.
Wednesday Lamar and I went with
Jessica to Walmart to pick up a few
items, then I had church that evening.
I did a bit of cleaning Wednesday, but
in the interest of keeping it real and
honest here, I didn't do a great lot.
I'm feeling much better after my sinus
infection and strep throat, but I still
tire easily and I'm not quite back to
100%, but I'm gradually getting there.
Thursday morning I left home fairly
early to do my monthly grocery shopping.
Except perishables that we occasionally
run out of during the month, like eggs,
bread, milk, etc. I do all my grocery
shopping for the month at one time, too.
Aching knees, long day, Diane's tard...
Do you see a theme developing here?
After I get home with the loot, I have
to put everything away and repackage
the meat I buy in the cheaper family
packs into smaller packages for meals
for Lamar and me. I package some
things in bigger portions for my
Sunday dinners when I have a crowd
to feed or when Jessica and Jason
are here for a meal.
So that's been my week so far.
I'm trying to finish Emmy's afghan
before Saturday afternoon, when Cecil
is hosting a baby shower at our church
for Jessica. I'm crocheting my fingers
to the bone trying to get it done by then.
After I get back from the shower, I have
5 dozen homemade yeast rolls and a

homemade coconut cake to make for
a bake sale our church ladies are
sponsoring. Somewhere amongst all
the rolls and cake-making I have to
make something for supper.
And I don't even want to discuss
Sunday Dinner right now.
I honestly don't have the faintest idea
what's in store. I don't know if I'm
cooking, someone else is bringing
something here for dinner, or if
we're all going to someone else's
place. I do know I'm broke, so if
the plan is to eat out, I'll be needing
a sponsor. ;-)
Well, I've got a baby afghan to finish
before Saturday afternoon.
My love and blessings to each of you,
dear friends and family, and
Happy Easter.

My goodness, you are busy! I'm needing a nap after reading this.

I am really glad you're feeling better and the strep is gone. The shower looks like it was a lovely event.

Have a great weekend.

Glad you're feeling better. You're going to need your strength with all that's happening around you.

I'll pray for all of you of course.

Will you add my daughter to your prayers if you haven't already done so?

Well, I'm officially done complaining about how busy I am! LOL You win!

Good grief, so much in this post. First, though, I have to tell you, I do that thing with the complimentary chips and salsa every time. Every time. Honestly, I'd save a fortune if I just ordered the "complimentary" chips and salsa and paid for my margarita! Think they'd let me do that?

What a great shower that was. She's so lucky to get some of the big things like that great stroller and the high chair. And another shower to come. We forget what a huge help it is to first time parents to get all these wonderful gifts.

OK, maybe I'll gripe about how busy I am ONE more time. Today's the first day this week I have five free minutes. What a week! I can only hope my blog friends understand and don't feel ignored.

I'm so glad you're getting over the crud. I know the first of the month is busy for you and it's hard when you don't feel good. Food shopping wears me to a frazzle, too. It's all the putting everything away when you get home that does me in.

It's good to hear from you. Ignore the blog and get that blankie finished. Prioritize! :-)

xoxoxo

You define the word "busy"!! No wonder you're tired and, of course, you're still recovering from your bug.
Loved seeing all the photos. How lucky Miss Emmy is to have so many wonderful gifts.
Remember to take some time for you doing something you enjoy. You want to be healthy and peppy to meet that precious baby!
love and ((hugs))

It does sound like you have been busy. Good luck with the sewing. We are finally getting real spring like weather with about 73 expected today. But our baseball team is playing the first of 4 games in Cleveland where SNOW is a good possibility. And just a couple of weeks ago they were in the 70s. The weather has been weird this year.

What a cute bunny picture!
Are ya'll 100% sure the baby is Emmy and not Emmit?
I don't know it just looks like she is carrying a boy to me!
Don't shoot me Diane!!!
I know all that pink stuff would have to be exchanged wouldn't it?
Oh well...
Happy Easter to you and yours!!

Looks like it was a fun shower and that she got a lot of great stuff!!

I always tend to eat too many chips and salsa before I get my meal, too. Or breadsticks at Italian restaurants....or those cheese biscuits at Red Lobster...

Glad you're feeling better. Hope you're back to 100% soon!
