Sunday Dinner, March 11, 2007

It doesn't seem possible, but it's Sunday again. I was at Danny and Mikki's last Sunday so I didn't do a Sunday Dinner post. That was the first one I've missed in almost a year.

Danny and Mikki have invited me, Lamar, Ducky, Jessica and Jason up for dinner at their house. There may be assorted other friends and relatives there, but I won't know until we get there. I know grilled chicken is on the menu. Other than that, I have no idea what we're having for dinner.

Hey, I don't have to cook it, so almost anything sounds good to me! I do love me some grilled chicken. The only thing better than grilled chicken is hickory smoked chicken, and Danny may end up smoking it. Man, does that sound delicious right now, and it's 4:30 am.

That's on Daylight Savings Time, by the way. So if you haven't already set your clocks up an hour, don't forget to do that. Or you'll be late for church. Or breakfast. Or whatever.

Why am I up at 4:30 am, you might be wondering? Remember the kittens? They have to be nursed every couple of hours right now, so it's almost like having a newborn human baby in the house. I get my sleep when I can right now, a couple of hours at a time. I'll even take the kittens to church and to Danny and Mikki's with me today so I can feed and care for them. I'll leave them in the pastor's office during preaching, then take them with me after church. I also have to take bottles and formula with me. In a week or so they'll be going longer between feedings and I'll be able to leave them alone for longer periods of time.

So what's on the menu at your place? Going to Grandma's? What's she serving? Going out to eat? Just share your plans in the comments.

I'll have my camera with me today so I'll try to get some pics of Seth and the rest of the family while I'm there.

Now I've got to try to grab a couple of hours sleep while I can.

I hope y'all have a wonderful Sunday, filled with good food and good company. May God bless you with all you need, and enough to share.

Boy, Pea's Sunday dinner sounds good!

I guess I have a bad case of spring fever. I made BLT's last night and tonight we're having taco salad.

Those little kittens are so lucky to have you, Diane. I can't wait to see more photos of them in, say, a couple of months.

How nice that someone else is doing the Sunday cooking for you, for a change. And it sounds good.

Have a wonderful Sunday, my friend. See you next week. :-)

Diane, What a wonderful thing you are doing for those kittens. I too can't wait to see pictures.

How nice of Danny and Mikki to have y'all over for dinner.

Not sure what is on the menu here today. My great-aunt died so we have her funeral this afternoon. So, thoughts of food are just up in the air at the moment.

Have a blessed day and enjoy that family.

You are a good Mommy to those kittens!!

How wonderful that you don't have to cook!

I think I will have a light lunch with some fruit, and then I'll wait and see what supper brings!

You are quite the devoted surrogate mother! Are you going to post some pictures of your little darlings?
Today, our daughter is making Sunday dinner. We alternate cooking two Sundays per month.I'm in charge of bringing dessert, but I'm not sure what that will be. Enjoy your Sunday dinner out!

We're making a big pot of chili, even though the weather is warm. It's a rainy day and chili dogs sound delicious.

Hope y'all have a nice visit.

I can't think of anyone who deserves sunday dinner out more than you Diane. I hope it's delicious.

Sounds like a fun day! Sounds like Mikki is feeling pretty good already!

We had ham, baked potatoes, crescent rolls, corn, and Shamrock cookies with green mint ice cream for dessert. Care Bear is really into leprechauns this year, so we had to get into the spirit too.

Have a wonderful week!

Hope you enjoyed your dinner out.

We're doing a leftovers day. I had some cooked pasta which I recycled with grated sharp cheese and some Parmesan, pesto, and margarine. Grilled some smoked sausages and reheated some leftover asparagus and peas.

Tomorrow, I'm going to try a chocolate chip cookie recipe (see my latest post for details) while the girls are in school. Otherwise, I'll have far too many helpers.

Our church had a celebration dinner tonight, so no cooking for us! We came home a bit hungry and had bowls of cereal. Perfect cooking in my book!

You are so kind to take care of kittens at all hours. I don't know if I could manage that - I barely did with my kids! :)

Yummy - grilled chicken! I had leftover pizza. Hey, at least I didn't have to cook!

Have a great week!

It's Sunday night and I am just now having a supper of steamed cauliflower, sliced tomato, fat free cottage cheese and a slice of whole grain toast. I was too tired to plan and cook a regular meal because I was at the hospital last night photographing the birth of my thirteenth great grandbaby, but I have a pork chop in the fridge for tomorrow.

Wow! You might as well have a brand new born baby, huh? ;-) Sounds like those little kitties are keeping you busy!

Well, as usual, we went to my mom's for dinner and she had made ham, baked potatoes, rolls and corn. Very tasty. ;-) I suppose one of these days I should invite her to my house instead.

Hope you had a great time at Mikki and Danny's!

I forgot the main thing I came to tell you! Must be that aging thing! I dreamed about you and Jessica last night. It was so vivid this morning, but now it's pretty much a misty memory. But it was definitely you two. Funny!

Hi Diane,
I came by for another visit. I love the photos of your new grandbaby. What a doll! My grand-angel is 8 months now -so much fun! I loved your truthfulness and honesty into your post today. Of course, you are feeling sad over those kittens. You need to grieve. God made us that way - we are sensitive and compassionate beings. I admire you for taking on that job in the first place of feeding those kittens. Take care of yourself. Hugs ML
