More Pictures

Lamar and I and Sue and Cecil, two of my sisters, went to Jonesboro on Monday to eat at Cracker Barrel. I took some pictures a month or so back of some crabapples out in front of Cracker Barrel. Now all the leaves are gone off them, but most of the crabapples are still hanging on the trees. They also have some pretty pansies planted under the crabapple trees, and I couldn't resist getting some pictures. I wish the sun had been out, but it was cloudy. The pictures still turned out pretty good, I thought.

Once again, ImageShack refused to upload several of my pictures for some unknown reason, so I'm adding them here. Did you find the birdnest amongst the crabapples?

I thought the fallen leaves made a nice seasonal background for the pansies. And I've always loved paper bark birch trees.

Although most of the leaves have fallen from the trees here, it's not feeling much like late fall right now. The last several days
it's been unseasonably warm. It hit 70 degrees here on Monday and it's supposed to be even warmer Tuesday and Wednesday. The weather geeks are forecasting 70 degrees and a 40% chance of thunderstorms for Tuesday, and 72 degrees and a 60% chance of thunderstorms on Wednesday. Now, get this--After hitting 72 degrees on Wednesday, the high for Thursday is predicted to only reach 38 degrees and there's an 80% chance of some sort of wintry mix. Typical Arkansas weather. I don't like freezing rain or ice, but I do like cold weather and I wouldn't mind some snow. Of course I have plans to go Christmas shopping on Friday, so if any bad weather does materialize I guess that'll put a kink in my plans. Oh well, I'll just have to wait and see.

Those last 2 pictures were taken outside Cracker Barrel as we were getting ready to leave. Cecil is waiting on a car to get parked so she can get in the car, and Lamar and
Sue are heckling me as I'm trying to take pictures of them from the front seat. I wasn't having much luck at it, either. I kept getting parts of them, or cutting off their heads, or one of them would be looking away. That one is the best of the lot, sad to say.

There's not a lot of noteworthy news to report around here. I'll take boring over the wrong kind of excitement any old day, though. Sometimes, all things considered,
boring is good.

Sue and Cecil are supposed to come spend the day with me again on Tuesday. I don't know what we'll get into, but we'll find something to do. I'm blessed to be able to spend so much time with my sisters, all 4 of them. And I'm thankful for that time. I know many families are so scattered and farflung that it may be years and even decades between visits for them. I am so fortunate that my family is all nearby. None of us live more than 20 miles from one another. Thank you, God, for my family, especially my sisters. I love you, Sue, Ducky, Donna and Cecil.

I'm going to post this and try to get around and visit some of my blogging buddies. I've had some trouble posting comments at times the last few days, and Bloglines is not updating and notifying me of all your new posts. I know from reading other blogs and comments that I'm not the only one experiencing difficulties in Bloggityville. What would we have to complain about if Blogger ever started working right? Yeah, I know....We'd find something to gripe and bellyache about.

Happy Tuesday, y'all, hope you're all having a good week.

This is just so weird. I can view your slideshow but the photos won't come up for me. I think I'll never understand what's going on with blogger. Or my computer.

Nothing earthshattering going on around here right now either. But believe me, that's good!

I'm going to keep coming back, hoping the photos will appear for me. With the baby here and Rob working today, there's no time to figure out if the problem is blogger or our computer. But I want to see these photos!

At least I can say Hi. Yesterday blogger wouldn't let me comment here at all.

I love the pictures...the crabapples are just beautiful.

I always love to hear what's going on in your corner of the world. Can you believe it's been in the 80's here this week and the high tomorrow is supposed to be 40? It's crazy.

You still have pansies???
All life has ceased to exist her. The trees are all bear and there is definately no pansies. Thanks for sharing them for us northerners who need a glimpse of a beautiful flower to see us through.

I love those pansies! Aren't the colors wonderful?

The weather was lovely when were there last weekend, though it was a little warm for fall. Like you said, typical Arkansas weather. If you don't like it, just wait a minute. :o)

The slideshow and the rest of the pictures all showed up for me:-) You took some terrific shots!! Like you said, what a wonderful contrast to see those crabapples hanging from bare branches!! The pansies are also gorgeous!! We had freezing rain here last night and then it turned to snow so it's pretty dangerous driving out there right now! I need to go start on my Christmas shopping but not with the roads like this!! I've always wanted a sister...can you and your sisters adopt me??? lol Sounds like you all have such a fun time together and you're very lucky to be all living near each other:-) xoxo

One of my favorite restaurants is a Cracker Barrel!!
Looks like the one you have has some nice scenery!
My favorite thing to eat there is their chicken and dumplings!!

You are unseasonably warm, we are unseasonably cold, with 14 this morning. And we have nearly a foot of snow. We usually don't get snow at all and here we have way tooooooo much of the stuff. I'd send some your way if I could figure out how to do that. Of course my cousin in Yuma, AZ sent me their weather report yesterday. They don't have snow and the daily temps are in the 70s.

We are freezing this AM (really! in California) I can't see your slide show, but I can see your other pictures. Like Pea, I always wanted a sister. You always sound like you have such fun. Do you gals enjoy decorating? I could sure use some helping hands!!!
((hugs))

The pictures are great. I do love pansies - and they plant them all over once the winter (such as it is) sets in here in Texas.
We're due for a huge weather change too - although I don't know if it will get quite as cold here.
You are indeed blessed to have your family so close by. My Mom longs for the "good old days" when everyone lived within a few blocks of each other. Our family is scattered all over the country.
Have fun with the girls today!

Diane,

I too love hearing about your little corner of the world.

Coming from an only child you are blessed to have sisters to spend time with...what a blessing indeed.

Here in GA we are having the up and down weather too. Yesterday, was very sunny and warm.

Have a blessed day.

Your pansies and crabapples are so pretty. Last winter I saw a tree that was loaded with some sort of red apple and they had an ice glaze over them. With the sun shining on them they looked like sparkling ornaments.
I e-mailed you concerning ImageShack, but see that you were able to post a slide show. I couldn't but will try again later.
We have loads of snow here. It's very pretty but very cold too. Last night was around eight below zero with the wind chill.
Burrrrrr!

I went to the Cracker Barrel here recently and they have a crabapple tree just absolutely loaded down! We talked about it while we ate and how many crabapples were on it. Warm here too, in the 60's today.

Your Cracker Barrel visit with family sounds lovely!!

I have been missing in action for awhile, and relied on Wordless Wednesday to get back in a bit. I love the pictures. We had the same weather situation here - hot last week, and bitter cold yesterday and today - with added beautiful snow today. I need to get busy on decorating, since I'm canceling everything else I was going to do today. It's too hard to lug kids around on icy streets, bundle them up, get them in and out of car seats so many times.

The photos are lovely and of course I had to stop by and smell the lilacs! One of my most favorite smells in the world. I LOVE Cracker Barrel and hopefully one will come to this side of South Dakota. Someone told me once that South Dakota has a Cracker Barrel. They were from tiny Connecticut so thought I could be there in an hour...but no, it takes about 7-8 hours to drive across this huge state!

Diane, I always love coming over to your blog to see what pictures you've posted!

Your comment about Grayson's hives cracked me up. I did end up having to take him back to the dr. (for the third time this week), and now he's on steroids and some high-powered antihistamine. He looks MUCH better, which is good, if I ever want to be able to go to church and leave him in the nursery!

Have a happy weekend, Diane!
