A Short Post & A Few Pics

I had to cook a sweet for a church function Thursday night, and I chose to make peach cobbler. I made 2 so I could sample one myself, and another to actually send to church. I kind of cheated on these, because I usually make my crust from scratch, but this time I used pie crust mix in a box and rolled them out. I have to say, it is pretty good, especially warm from the oven with a glass of cold milk. I was craving something sweet, and this really hit the spot.

Lamar, Jessica, her boyfriend, Jason and I went riding around this past Sunday night for a while, and I got a few pics of the sunset. They are not the greatest, as usual, and I took them out the open window of the moving car. I think this one is the best of the bunch. I've posted here and here about how much I love riding around, and how much fun we have, but it bears repeating. There might have even been a few more times I talked about it, but it's after 3 am and I'm not hitting on all cylinders right now.

Everything else is much the same around our household as I've mentioned in earlier posts. Hot and busy, trying to get a handle on my housework and the cleaning and purging binge I've been on. That's slowed somewhat, but I'm still working on it in stages.
Thanks to all of my dear family and friends and new friends who left comments on my last post. Some of you I answered on your blogs, some I answeredby email, and some I just haven't gotten around to answering yet. Please forgive me if I don't answer every comment, but I am blessed with so many comments sometimes that it's difficult to keep up with you! If there are any questions I try to answer them, or if someone tickles my funnybone I usually comment back. As I've mentioned eleventy-seven times lately, I have been very busy with cleaning and purging, and now I have my new blog design to work on and think about, too. I haven't heard anything back since I replied to my first email from them, but I should be hearing something soon, I would think.
I'm yawning so much I can barely keep my eyes open, so I'm taking that as a signal it's time to go to bed. Love and blessings to all of you, my friends and family. Diane Loves You. :-)

I've been thinking making a blackberry cobbler for sweet husband would be good. Nothing beats it in the summer, except a scoop of vanilla ice cream sitting next to it. Something cozy about cobbler.

That cobbler looks yummy but it's also gorgeous. Some of the best peaches in the world grow ten minutes from here. Palisade peaches. I plan to get a bushel and start cooking. I love love cobbler. And Bev, you made my mouth water when you mentioned blackberry cobbler. Remember when we just went out to the woods to pick blackberries? Have you priced them in the store lately? Unbelievable. But for cobbler, worth it I think.

I have no idea how you stay up so late Diane. I'd be a zombie.

Hi, Bev, Welcome Back!! Wish I'd had some vanilla ice cream to go with mine, but it was good anyway. :-)

Buffy,
Welcome! I haven't seen you here before. Come back anytime. :-)

Dean Dean,
It WAS pretty good. Miss you, too. Come and see me sometime. Love you, too. :-)

Tammy,
You should post pics of some of the stuff you make. From what I've read on your blog, you're a good cook. How about some pics? :-)

Glenifer,
It was good, and easy. If you want the recipe, let me know. :-)

Sue,
I love fresh peaches, and they're ready here now, but I don't have access to them at the moment. I used canned for this and it was still good. :-)

Dick and Huggy,
We did have fun, but this time, no windows down, we used the AC! Too hot even at night now to drive with the windows down, plus the skeeters would eat you alive. :-)

Still no word about my new blog redesign. :-)

Hey, Green Eyes,
I thought something was smearing up my monitor, now I know what it was! I wish you lived closer so we COULD cook and visit together in person. I just know we'd get along like a house on fire, we seem to have so much in common. ;-)

I'd send you a piece of cobbler, but it's gone now, and besides, it'd be a bit green and hairy by the time it got to you all the way up in Newfoundland! LOL 'Course, you might like things green and hairy.... ;-)

Hi, Mountain Mama,
No, I don't put nutmeg in my peach cobbler, or cinnamon either. I will eat it with a little cinnamon, but I prefer it without. Now apples, I LOVE a LOT of cinnamon in my apple pie. Nutmeg....maybe a little, not much. I like a lot of nutmeg on my egg custard pie, though. :-)

I don't think I'd care for the orange zest in the banana nut muffins. I do like banana nut muffins or bread, though. I'm thinking about making some blueberry muffins after supper, you flung a cravin' on me with the banana nut muffins! LOL :-)

Barb,
I love fresh peaches, but for this I used canned. It's great, and really easy, my own recipe. And blackberries grow wild all around me here, sometimes even in the city limits. I don't have a way to go pick them most of the time, and I'm not really able anymore, but I do like to pick dewberries, loganberries and blackberries. I make jam with mine more than cobblers, though. Have you ever priced the individually frozen blackberries? I can usually get them cheaper than fresh, and they're just as good as fresh if you're going to bake with them.

I sleep late is how I can stay up late, Barb. I get my sleep, it's just later in the day most of the time. I vary really. Sometimes I go to bed at 11 pm, sometimes (rarely) it's 6 am when I go to bed. I have weird sleeping habits. :-)

Hi, Renny,
Thanks, and welcome back. Hope your summer is going well, and you're getting lots of golf in. :-)

Hi, again, Green Eyes. We had a front move through earlier. Had some rain and lots of lightning, and it cooled off quite a bit, from 101F for the high, and it's 73F right now at almost 12:30 am. It's only supposed to be in the low 80's tomorrow, yippeeee!! It won't last long, though. It'll be miserable again in a few days.

Together, huh? That WAS a Freudian slip, LOL. ;-)

I do think we'd get along great face to face, though. We already get along so well in cyberspace, you know. :-)

Here's an extra-squishy hug for you too, my friend.
