I Added Some New Stuff

Notice anything new? Look at my sidebar.........Scroll down............Yeah, there they are!! I am so 'cited!! As previously stated in at least one recent blog, I am hopelessly inept when it comes to most puter stuff. I am learning as I go, mostly by the mistakes, not the successes. I visited several blogs last night, and I saw lots of thingies on some of them I thought I might like to add. So far, the virtual pet, the weather pixie, and the daily bible verse are all I tried to add. I did those in the wee hours of this morning, and it only took me a couple of hours to add them. The hardest part for me is finding where to paste the code in the template. I am scared to death I am going to mess up and delete or change something beyond repair. Well, repair by me, that is. Anyone else could probably click the magic box and say "html pocus" and "POOF", it would be fixed. Me, now, "fix" and "computer" could never rightfully be used in the same sentence. And so, I struggle heedlessly along, fumbling my way haphazardly through
html code, alternately wheezing and panicking, and rejoicing with much "Halelujiah"s when I do manage to get it mostly right.

Disclaimer: I do not, in any way, other than we both appear to be female, resemble the figure in my weather pixie box. Given the fact that the other choices consist of a black girl with dread locks, a blond with long braids, an Asian girl, and several other ethnic and racial choices, the one I settled on was the closest I could come to even nearly looking like me. My profile pic doesn't give any visuals at that resolution, but I have nearly waist-length medium brown hair, (with a lot of "platinum blonde" around my face and elsewhere), wear glasses or occasionally contacts, and I look every bit of my 42 years. They are all painfully thin, and I weigh 300 lb, too. So I did the best I could do with what I had to work with. Family, don't let me catch you laughing at this. ;)

Actually, these weren't too hard to add, and if you are interested, just click on them and it will take you to their web page to sign up and get the codes. They are free, too, or else I wouldn't have them, LOL!!

Also notice, I added a new link, the last one at the bottom of the list, to the National Weather Service map. It shows any severe weather watches, advisories, warnings and bulletins. Click on it and check it out. It covers the entire U.S. mainland, so it covers everyone here in the States.

Supper is imminent--weinies and kraut, cornbread, brown beans and pork chops--so I will post this and another I have already done, and go take care of the business at hand. Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday!!

LOL..alex and his madness!

Well, yeah..practise makes perfect, and anytime you mess up you can do something simple, just go to your blogger interface and choose a new layout! LOL

Yeah, Alex and Yasser,

But you don't understand........When I screw something up.......I do it BIG TIME!!!! ;)

I am just getting this blog started good, but I would hate to have to start over. Hopefully, I won't do anything to foul it up beyond repair. :)

Thanks for your thoughts, though, and Welcome, Alex. If my blog is not too lame for you, come back anytime.

Green eyed girl,

Welcome, the more the merrier. I just started blogging the last part of January, but I am slowly feeling my way around blogdom.

Thanks for your kind words about my blog. I have some visitors outside the family, and several of my family read it. I have several that visit but never or rarely comment, too.

Thanks also for your words about my Aunt Polly, her surgery has been rescheduled for March 27.

Everyone is welcome, just make yourself at home. :)

p.s. We ONLY drink sweet tea here....It's a mystery to me how anyone can drink either hot or iced tea without sugar.

i like tea hot or cold...doesn't matter if it has sugar or not..love you sis

Diane@Diane's Place said...

Ewwwww, sis, how can you stand any kind of tea without sugar?

I can't stand milk in hot tea, either, but fresh lemon is good in iced tea, and it is okay in hot tea occasionally.

Polly's surgery is scheduled for March 27 now.

Love you, too, sis.

way to go!!! HTML scares me!

Holymama,

Thanks for visiting, and for the kind words. Html scares me to death, too. I am afraid I will do something permanently stupid, but then again, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

So watch out, you never know what I might do, and I don't either!! :)

Faith,
As I told holymama, it's all new to me, too. I live in fear of permanently deleting my whole blog or some such catastrophe.
Anyone who knows me will vouch that I am capable of utter chaos and destruction.
My Daddy used to tell us girls we could tear up a steely ball with a kleenex, ;)
For the uneducated, a steely ball is a steel ball bearing.

Me thinks that your blog is pretty festive. Not bad for a person who once called it "tame".

I wish that I could provide some techonological insight, but I'm the guy who has to write passwords all over the place so I forget them. That said, when it comes to HTML, I'm pretty...uh...how do you say...idiotic!

But, when it comes down to ranting and pontificating about simple and cosmetic things; look now further...

For what it's worth, I love your blog!

Hi Diane. Just me again. I can't really compare the new looks of your blog to the old, because I just dropped in for the first time a couple of days ago. I can say that I like the way you have it set up and I do enjoy the humor and honesty in your writings.

After reading yours, Joe's, and a couple of others, I have decided to attempt my own. Joe is already in the works of helping me set it up. You see, I know nothing about HTML. I have been using the internet for years. In fact, when I first started, I used UNIX commands to access it. Mosaic had just introduced a GUI web browser to the world, and "browsing was a new concept to most people. (I think that is around the time Al Gore invented it) LOL I am not bragging by any means, hence my admission of being HTML deficiant. It's like all this time I have been along for the ride, but never learned to drive the car. It's like I've kept my feet on the ground, but kept reaching for the sky. Okay, Casey Kasem made that last one up, but I just love analogies. :-)

I know there are plenty of programs that will practically do everything for you. That, along with Joe's help should get me far. Don't be surprised, though, if I come to you for a question or two. There are a couple of things you incorporate into your setup that Joe doesn't, and that I might be interested in adding.

I'll let you know when it's up and running. I just hope I can be original enough. I think the "original" gene passed me by on its way to Joe.

Anyway, keep up the good work. I'll be talk atcha soon.....

Andre:
Thanks for the kind words. Like I said, I don't know any better, so I just jump in head first sometimes, and hope the html waters are deep enough to float me, ;)
I really just fumble along, honestly, and ALWAYS, ALWAYS, preview before I save changes to blog, LOL.

Mike:
I haven't made that many changes, other than adding links, and the new stuff on my side bar, like the weather pixie, the virtual pet, and the hit map.
I really don't know that much about setting up a blog. I just started at the end of January myself, and I used a standard blogger template and added a few things.
If I can help at all, just ask and I will offer what help I can, but don't be surprised if I am clueless about any topic, computer-wise. I just got online this past November, myself, so I don't have ANY programming skills, not just html.

Just be yourself, is my advice to anyone starting a blog. Write for yourself and your family and friends, people you know and love, and who love you. If anyone else happens to appreciate your blog, that's gravy.
Keep me posted on your progress, I'm anxious to visit and check it out.

NOT SO, NASHE........so, so not so, LOL. ;)

I'm just a big doofus when it comes to this stuff, and I blunder along, hoping against hope I don't mess anything up beyond repair, :)

Enjoy your day at the beach, while we CHILL out here in Arkansas, 44 degrees Fahrenheit here.......whine, whine......... ;)
