Sunday Dinner, September 12, 2010

I feel like a fraud still calling this my Sunday Dinner post when I'm so rarely cooking these days, but here goes.

Once again, I'm not cooking this week and I don't know where I'll be eating. If you'd like to share your Sunday Dinner plans this week, feel free to do so in the comments.

Thank you for all your comments, messages, emails and cards. I've read and appreciate each one, and I'm touched by your love and concern for me.

My earlier medical tests were all inconclusive, and I had another CT scan this past Tuesday on my neck. I go back to my doctor this coming Tuesday to find out the results and we'll go from there.

Overall I'm feeling much better health wise and emotionally. I was prescribed an antidepressant that made me much worse, so I stopped taking it after 4 days and am in a much better frame of mind now.

Also, Lamar and I have decided to try again with our relationship and our marriage. We can always separate and divorce later if this doesn't work out, but we want to make this work if we can at all. On October 25th we'll have been married for 25 years, and that's a long time to walk away from.

I'm sorry to leave everyone hanging but I've needed this time away to gather my thoughts and get myself back together emotionally. The last couple of months have been some of the hardest times I've ever been through and though it's better now in many ways, Lamar and I still have a lot to work through.

Hopefully I'll continue to improve emotionally and can keep up my Sunday Dinner posts from now on.

And now I'll wish everyone one a blessed Lord's Day, and my prayer for everyone is that God will bless you with all you need and enough to share.

Diane, Somehow I had missed the post about you and Lamar. I am so sorry you are going through this but please know I will be praying for you both as you work on your marriage and walk this road. Having been divorced, I know how hard it is but it is also hard to live in a home where things are “right”.

Love you my sweet friend. Praying for you and your family.

Sorry to hear about you and Lamar Diane. I know all too well that couples have their trials and troubles, but you both have to make up your mind that you want it to work and both work at it. I will be praying for you and Lamar and pray things work out for the both of you. Sure hope they find out what is wrong with you also. Hope you have a good week my friend.
Love and hugs and prayers,

Karen Horton

I must have been on vacation when you wrote about you and Lamar. I'm so glad you're going to try to work things out Diane.
Praying for both of you - and for your health as well.

I am so glad to hear from you! I was hoping that you had learned more about your health issues. Not knowing can really do a number on you. Of course, the added stress of your marital problems makes it even tougher.

I hope that you will do what is best for yourself. If that means working things out.....great! But, don't let anything cost you your health. We had our 30th anniversary in June and yet, I don't give marital advice. I hope you are going to be all right.

Love,
Terri from Ohio

I am happy to hear that you guys are going to try to make it to 25 and beyond! That is a very long time to walk away from. I can only imagine how the health and the other situation have ascerbated each other.

So great to hear from you! I'm glad to know that you are doing better, but hope you find out what's going on. I've been worried about you, friend.

As for you and Lamar's situation, I just hope the best for you both.

You are in my thoughts and heart!

Love, Vikki.

I am so sorry to hear of all you've been going through, and to have it all happening at once has to be so tough. I will certainly pray for your health and your marriage. Xox

Diane, I have been so worried about you... I am glad that you are feeling somewhat better and hope the doctors come up with something...

I am sure you and Lamar have gone through ups and downs, most marriages do... It would be such a shame to call it quits now... You are both going into your senior years and probably need each other more than you know... I am glad that you are working on it and I am sure that your Heavenly Father is glad too... I think Satan works hard to take marriages down.... I have you on my prayer list... I'm praying for you health and marriage...

We had the kids over today to celebrate TF's 60th birthday... I tease him and tell him that I have a little old man running around my house now...lol. He teases back, since I am seven months older than him..

A friend once told me, "The Lord votes for you, Satan votes against you, and you decide the winning vote." Hang in there my friend...

I'm happy you are trying again with Lamar because I love happy endings but if it's not to be then it won't be. I hope you're happy whatever the outcome.

It's hard to believe you are still waiting for tests!!!! I thought you would have known by now!! The waiting must be awful for you!!!

I'm glad you're feeling at least a little better, Diane, and I'm especially glad that you and Lamar are going to give it another try. You're absolutely right, that you can end it later if you end up thinking you should, but if it comes to that, you'll feel better knowing you gave it your best before you let it go.

Dearest Diane,

OK....so I'm commenting twice on this post but I'M WORRIED ABOUT YOU!!! My heart sunk when I got on here this morning and you weren't there. I do hope that you are getting good support for the hard times you have been having, both emotionally and physically. You don't need advice from a stranger but just know that I'm praying for you and think of you often. I wish that I could send some "strength and encouragement" in an envelope to you.

But, here's what is for dinner at my house today......not that it matters but thought you might enjoy reading about it.

I am cooking a few things this afternoon for the upcoming week. I teach school and have been driving 25 miles 3X a week for therapy on my new knee (which by the way is doing very well. Praise the Lord for His goodness and modern medicine!!) I'm having a hard time keeping up with everything! So,I am baking a whole chicken to make a couple of different dishes from. I'm making a meat loaf and baking it with new potatoes for supper this evening along with fresh green beans. I'm hoping that we can (as my grandma used to say) "eat off of the pile" a couple of evenings.

Oh, I want to share something cute my grandson said......he is 22 months old and cute as a button!! (I sound like a Grammy, don't I?) I bought him some new shoes and when his mommy put them on him, he looked down and said "Wow!"(His new word) I know that doesn't sound so spectacular but it thrilled my heart. Being a grandma is the best, isn't it?

Love and prayers to you, Dear Friend.

Terri

Diane, I'm in the same mode when it comes to Sunday Dinner. It's a hit and miss situation for me at the moment. Between the heat in the tropics and work overload, I come home most days enervated and drained.

So glad to know that you and hubby are trying at your relationship. As someone wise once said, 'motivation gets you going, but persistence keeps you coming back'. It's all about hanging in there my friend through the good times and the bad.

Take care and you're in my thoughts and prayers.

p.s. for an aerial view of my beautiful tropics, take a peek at my blog and let me know what you think.

I have been busy and not reading my blog list for awhile so much of this is catching me by surprise. I also hope you can get good answers to your health issues and that you two can work out your marriage problems.

My posting has been very slow and I see now that my blogroll is no longer posting on my site, so that makes it harder for me to go checking on those I care about. I will try to come back more often.

Thinking of you every day, dear friend. I hope that you're getting things sorted out and that you're feeling much better now. Miss you something awful, but don't take that as any kind of pressure. I'll still be here whenever you decide that the time is right to reappear. xxoo
