100 Things About Me

1. I'm 45, married 23 years to my husband, Lamar, and have one daughter, Jessica, 21, who is married to Jason, 20. They presented me with my first grandbaby, Princess Emmy, on May 8, 2007.

2.
I have 4 sisters who are featured here on my blog quite often: Sue, the oldest at 59, Martha, AKA Ducky, 57, Donna, AKA zztop, 55, then me, then Lisa, AKA Cecil, 43.

3.
My Mama and Daddy both died in the last few years, only 4 months apart, and I miss them every day.

4.
I am a born again, Bible-believing Christian, and you'll often hear about that in these pages.

5.
I'm a born and bred Arkansan. Southern through and through.

6.
I am a Mama-taught Southern cook, and I love to cook.

7.
I also love to eat, as you can tell by the photo above.

8.
I love animals of all kinds.

9.
Yes, all kinds. I am not scared of bugs or spiders or snakes.

10.
I've had pet rats, mice, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs and most anything else you can imagine.

11.
I have a certain affinity for animals and they seem to sense that in me.

12.
I love babies and have a way with them, and most all of them love me too.

13.
Before I got online and discovered blogging, I was a voracious reader. Not so much now.

14.
I love most music, especially Christian, gospel, country, classic rock and pop.

15.
I love to fish, anytime. 16. I'll eat almost anything, but I don't like eggplant.

17.
I like to crochet, cross stitch, sew and quilt. I don't do much of it anymore, but I like to do it.

18.
I have green eyes, and all the sisters have brown.

19.
I love to watch meteor showers.

20.
I love to sing, and I'm pretty good at it. So I'm told, anyway.

21.
My drink of choice is Coke Zero, but I will drink Dr. Pepper or almost anything but grape.

22.
I lead pretty good, but I don't push worth a hoot. Thanks, Mama.

23.
One of my favorite things on this earth is riding around with the windows down, listening to music.

24.
I've never been drunk. Not even tipsy. I have sampled here and there, but that's all.

25.
I've never taken any drug with the intent of getting high, including prescriptions. Or smoked anything.

26. Regarding 24 & 25, a lot of that is due to the fact I'm a control freak, I think.

27.
I never sleep in a car or any moving vehicle. Period. (See #26.)

28.
I have never had a speeding ticket or been in jail.

29. I love flowers of almost any type, blossoms and foliage.

30.
I absolutely despise housework. I'd rather dig ditches by hand.

31.
Anybody who comes to my apartment very often knows about # 30 firsthand.

32. Even though it's messy, you're welcome here anyway.

33.
I am fiercely loyal to my family and friends.

34.
Math is utterly confusing and foreign to me. Numbers hate me. Honestly, they do.

35.
I wear makeup 3 or 4 times a year.

36.
I have way too much makeup for someone who only wears it 3 or 4 times a year.

37.
I do a mean job of clucking like a chicken. Really.

38.
I also do a mean job of barking like a dog.

39.
I eat way too much salt, especially for someone with high blood pressure. But I love it.

40.
I love to grow vegetables and flowers, and I wish I could still do it.

41.
I prefer inside biscuits and rolls rather than outside ones.

42.
I like gold and silver jewelry equally. So send me either kind.

43.
I hate to walk across wooden bridges. I weigh 300 pounds, but I might fall through one of those cracks.

44.
My daughter Jessica is terribly amused that I don't like to walk across wooden bridges, because nothing else phases me much like that.

45.
I love roller coasters and rides that spin.

46.
If pressed, I would say that pink and red are my favorite colors.

47.
I don't smoke, although I played at it when I was younger.

48.
I graduated high school with honors, but never went to college.

49.
If I went to college now, I still don't know what I'd want to major in.

50.
I'd rather have cheesecake, pastries or fruit desserts than chocolate most of the time.

51.
I like casual more than dressy clothes.

52.
I love shoes and purses.

53.
I hate fall colors, but fall and winter are my favorite seasons.

54.
Catfish and seafood are my favorite eat-out foods.

55.
I need at least 8 hours sleep every night, and 9 is better, or everyone suffers.

56.
I love snow.

57.
Christmas is my favorite holiday.

58.
I'd rather go camping in the boonies than to an expensive resort. (The resort ain't likely to happen, anyway.)

59.
Growing up, I didn't have indoor plumbing until I got married in 1985. We had a commode but no tub in the house we lived in when I got married.

60.
I like showers over baths.

61.
I love to stargaze and look at the night sky and the moon.

62.
I love the mountains, especially the Ozarks.

63.
I am very sentimental, and cry at the drop of a hat. Sometimes I drop the hat.

64.
I used to like to work on cars with my Dad.

65.
I used to like to cut and split wood.

66.
I like a wood fire in a fireplace. I wish I had one.

67.
I would take in every stray that came along if I could.

68.
I tend to collect stray people, too.

69.
I love to swim and will stay in the water till I shrivel when I get a chance to go.

70.
I will attempt to whup someone over mistreating a helpless person or animal.

71.
I like to walk over old house sites in fields, looking for old money and marbles, etc.

72.
I like to sit in the woods and just watch and listen to the animals and nature.

73.
My daughter says I'm loud.

74. I tend to speak my mind. Sometimes before I'm asked for my opinion.

75.
Jessica also says, in her words: "You're absolutely freakin' hilarious!!"

76.
I'm not shy. (That's probably an understatement.)

77.
I've been told I give great massages, but I don't like to get them myself.

78.
I'm fascinated by thunderstorms and tornadoes, especially storm-chaser shows.

79.
Nine times out of ten, I'll choose plain ol' vanilla ice cream over any other. Soft-serve, please.

80.
I'm not scared of much of anything, so if you see me running, don't ask questions, just run faster.

81.
I have been called hard-headed and stubborn. I prefer to think I'm determined.

82.
I can barely draw flies, much less anything artistic.

83.
I love to dance, though my arthritis keeps me from doing much dancing these days.

84.
I can't knit for beans, though I've tried many times over the years. It escapes me.

85.
I made all my maternity clothes and a lot of Jessica's fancy dresses when she was younger.

86.
I'm not very good at it, but I love to take pictures.

87.
I had one permanent when I was 21, and the Lord be my helper, it will probably be my last.

88.
I've always wanted to play the piano or guitar, but have never learned.

89.
I love card and board games.

90.
I speak Southern English fluently, and a word here and there of several others.

91.
I despise the color orange, and I'm not too fond of yellow, either.

92.
I know all the verses to "Found A Peanut."

93.
All my daughter's ex-boyfriends still call me "Mom."

94.
It's a good thing I married for love rather than money.

95.
I'm only ticklish on the bottoms of my feet.

96.
My iced tea can never be too cold, or my black coffee too hot.

97.
If I pick the movie, it's probably a comedy or fantasy.

98.
I can't believe anybody will read all this trivia about me.

99.
If you have read all this, either you were really bored, or you love me, or both.

100.
I'm glad this is all of it, because I was having trouble coming up with things to say.

Thank you Diane. You've just given me a hundred more reasons to love you! But, I think you forgot 101: You have an uncanny ability to touch other people's lives.

I can imagine how hard it was to come up with this list. I mean, I have a hard time describing myself in 100 words let alone an entire list. But, now that you've done it, I guess it's my turn. Stay tuned...

BTW, I love that you "whup" people and not spank them. I came from some "whuppin'" parents, so I can appreciate that...

Diane,
Andre is right! These are 100 reasons why your cyber friends love you to pieces. You are so sweet and considerate and always remember little things about what is happening in everyone's lives. As my Mom used to say "You have a heart of gold"
One question, though, what are inside biscuits and rolls?

Nope--not bored...just love ya!

Great job!

Now that Jessica is going off to college--I think it's time for Momma to go off to college! I did just that and graduated last May (a year ago!). The first time I went to college I got my degree in marriage! I quit school to marry my hubby--with the plan of returning to school immediately after he graduated. Well--31 years later (no, it didn't take him THAT long to graduate!!!!) I finally finished school. Life happened...in a very good way--and school just took a back seat. But what an adventure I had! It was great! So glad I did it this way--instead of going back as a youngster!

Sue,
You always have such sweet things to say when you visit me! Thank you.....

And I think my sister, zztop, answered this, but inside biscuits are the center ones, with no browned edges, only the bottom is brown. I just like the fluffy soft parts of the roll or bisuit best. :-)

Diane,
I doubt I will ever have the opportunity to go to college, and I think I am content as I am, really.
I'm glad you got to go back to college, though, and that you're happy with your decision. Thanks for visiting, and for your sweet words, too. :-)

Really, I appreciate all your nice words. You made me cry again...I've been blubbering all day anyway, with Jessica's graduation and all. Thanks to you and Johnny and Jon for coming, it meant a lot to Jessica and to me and Lamar, too. Thank you for your gift to Jessica, too. I know she appreciates it, and you should be getting Thank You card in a few days for it. Thanks for being my sister-friend, too, and I love you so much, you'll never know how much.

You have no idea how much I needed the lift that this post gave me. SO entertaining. Diane, I don't think you'd know how to be anybody other than yourself if somebody offered you a million dollars to do it. You are as real and genuine as they come. And you and Jessica were in my dream a couple of nights ago...so funny.

AS ALWAYS, I have been thoroughly entertained by your writing. There are so many of your "100 things" that made me laugh...and I loved #80. Boomama and I were talking the other day about how it might seem easy to adapt another persona when you blog/write, but a person's true self always shines through. I love that you are always just you...and I'm so glad we "met" you!

I'm glad you enjoyed this post. Nope, I'm afraid I'm me, just as I am, wherever and whenever you see me, for good or bad. ;-)

Hmmmm........I'd like to hear about the dream we featured in.....I think, LOL. ;-)

Sister,
I'm glad you liked my 100 things, too. I wouldn't even know where to begin trying to be someone I'm not. Too much trouble putting on airs, and I can't be bothered with it. Like you said, sooner or later the truth shines through, so why bother? I'll just be myself, thank you, and you can take me or leave me. :-)

And I'm so blessed to have met you and BooMama, too. I'm thankful for your help when I first started blogging, and the way you both took me under your wings. I try to help other new bloggers and encourage them as y'all did for me. I try to pass on what you both gave me when I was a new blogger. :-)

Good for you. Tell me, since I'm new at this. Is this 100 things about me something it's just assumed people do when they've done 100 posts? Must be. Man! Congratulations for coming up with 100! I don't know if I could do it!

Diane, I love your blog! And after reading the "100 Things about Diane" section, it seems that we have a whole lot in common.

I live in Texas now but spent a lot of my teenage years in DeQueen, Ark.

My husband and I were going to be moving to Rogers in August 2008 but I developed so many health problems with RA that we though it would be better to stay here for now. And since I'm not getting any younger, this will probably mean that we stay here permenantly, I guess.

I love your recipe section...just the kind of recipes I love (down home cooking). However, is there anyway that you can post the recipe for refrigerator pickles. I used to love them when I lived in Ark but haven't had them since then and have no idea how to make them.

Take care and keep up the good works with your blogs.

I loved this! No wonder I think I'd love to meet you, we have a lot of the same traits! BTW, this was a great way to learn about you, AND your great sense of humor!
Love, Vikki :)

OKay, I'm not sure why this came up on my google reader as new for today. But I will say I've always loved #80. Just cracks me up!!

Thanks for re-posting this. When we spend so much time coming up with these things, we ought to do them over once in awhile!

I would do mine, but it took 4 days to do it all. I got way too detailed! And I about cry every time I think of all the pictures that I had on old posts that are gone because I canceled my Flickr account in a panic when I had to go private. That guy has done so much damage!

Have a great Thanksgiving - I say again!
