Sunday Dinner, April 4, 2010

Howdy, all. Welcome to the second quarter of 2010 already. Tempest fugit: time flies, indeed.

My nephew Danny, his wife Mikki and their son Seth have invited me and Lamar and my sisters Ducky and Cecil to eat Easter dinner with them so I won't be cooking Sunday Dinner this week.

I hear that Mikki is baking a ham but I'm a little fuzzy on the rest of the meal, so you'll just have to use your imagination for the side dishes.

JESSICA has to work from 7 am/7 pm as usual on Sunday, so she'll be missing out on all the Easter celebrations. Jason is taking Emmy to his Mom's house to hide eggs with all Emmy's cousins, so they won't be with us this Easter.

What are you doing for Sunday Dinner this week? Share your plans/menu in the comments if you'd like.

It's supposed to be a beautiful Easter Sunday here in Northeast Arkansas. Sunny and 82F which is almost unheard of for the first week in April, and quite a bit above average for our normal high temps for this time of year. I hope it's not foreshadowing an early and hotter than average Summer for us. There are no words intense enough to convey my hatred for hot muggy weather, which is indeed ironic since I live in the torridly hot and humid South.

This post is going to be uncharacteristically (wow, long word!) brief tonight because I need to cut it short and take care of some things. Namely, I still need to study my Sunday School lesson, take a shower and do my nails, and I hear a pot of hot Earl Grey tea calling my name.

I hope you all have a happy and joyful Easter, dear friends and family. May God meet all your needs and may you have enough to share.

A very happy Easter to you and all of your family. It's going to be an unusually warm one for us, too, in the mid 50s F. Often we're still stuck in snow drifts at this time of year, but we had a very early spring this time around. No complaints about that, but like you, I hope that it's not leading to an unusually hot summer.

I'm cooking our Easter dinner tomorrow and it will be turkey with all of the trimmings, and an apple and cranberry pie for dessert. Ham is traditional, I know, but we prefer turkey.

Hope you have a great week, dear friend! xxoo

Happy Easter, Diane!
We're having grilled weiners and polish sausages, baked beans, potato salad, chips and jello salad.
My neice and her family are coming over for the kiddos to hunt their Easter eggs.
I wish I could say the weather is going to be as nice as yours. I think it's going to be a little chilly. It's been so cold and extremely windy the last several days. I don't mind the cold, just don't like the wind. It messes up my hair!!! ;)
Winds were reported at 70 mph in the town 30 miles S. of us. Crazy.
Have a great week!

Enjoy dinner with your family, Diane... Sorry Jessica has to work, but that is life... I just know that Miss Emily will have fun with her cousins hiding Easter eggs... She is growing up so fast.... Hope you have a great Easter Sunday...

The kids are coming over for dinner today... I am cooking a ham, sweet potatoes, steamed asparagus, salad and maybe some deviled eggs... Bonnie is bringing over some cup cakes and we will let JJ and Jocelyne decorate them. I love it when we can get everyone together for dinner...

We got into the high 70's here yesterday, not sure what the temps will be today... The tomatoes are planted and so are the pole beans... we still need to get the cucumbers into the ground. The one thing I have noticed different this year is the lack of bees... I haven't seen any bees around our lagustrum this year... What is going on with the bees?

Have a great week, Diane..... Give Miss Emily a hug and a kiss for me.

Happy Easter hon! It's plum neart perfect weather today...mid 70's, dry and NO prairie winds to blow us to kingdom come. Gorgeous day...but tonight storms are forecast. I don't see how, cause it's not humid or wonky. However the wind is from the east...and that may bring rain. Have a lovely day dear...Love, Jen

Our Easter Dinner will be to one of the following: Olive Garden, Johnny Cerinos (another Italian place) or Asian 1. Pat will decide as I like all of them, although Olive Garden does have a sangria that is great.

Our weather isn't as nice as yours. We are expecting high temps in the low 50s with wind. I guess it isn't too bad but, unlike you, I rather like temps in the mid to upper 70s or even into the lower 80s.

We had the traditional ham with scalloped potatoes, sesame asparagus, fresh fruit salad, ice cream and cookies. The kitchen's still a mess, but I don't feel like cleaning it up yet.

It was quiet here - just Ken and me. We went out to an Easter buffet at a local restaurant. It wasn't particularly good -- I should have cooked our own ham. Hope your Easter was a happy one, Diane!

Hi Diane. I hope your Celebration was as blessed as mine.
I came by too early on Saturday and you didn't have your new post up yet so I will leave my comment today.
We went to my second daughters to Celebrate our Lord's Resurrection. She and her daughter made ham and several delicious meat loaves, mashed taters, gravy and stuffing. The rest of us brought Sweet meat squash with brown sugar and butter, Green beans, rolls, creamy fruit salad,(my oldest daughter makes this with instant vanilla pudding and real cream, YUM!. We also had olives, pickles, deer sausage, and I can't remember what else but for desserts we had Banana and Chocolate cream pies, Apple and pumpkin pies and apple crisp. This time of year there is always several dishes and a huge basket filled with every imaginable kind of candy too. We all feasted heartily!
I took lots of pictures of my great grand kidettes. They had a super time hunting eggs and I had a super time watching.
I'll Be back to visit you soon.

We had left overs for Easter cause we always spend so much time having fun with the kids and hiding and hunting eggs galore. This year we hid 109 plastic eggs that were filled with candy, balloons and or nickles and quarters. My bully dogge, Myrtle helped out too but only opened 2 and ate the jelly beans inside, silly dog. Glad you enjoyed your Easter too.
