Sunday Dinner, July 26, 2009

I've had Emmy Thursday, Friday and today, and Diane is a TARD girl tonight, so I imagine you can guess what I'm about to say.

For the third Sunday in a row, if my figuring is right, I'm not cooking Sunday Dinner. I kept Emmy from about 8:15 am till almost 7 pm today and there were lots of potty training efforts (no accidents at all today, Yay!) splashing in her wading pool followed by a quick bath and shampoo in the kitchen sink, snacks and meals and much more that filled our day.

As you can imagine, I'm not up to cooking supper tonight and also preparing for Sunday Dinner, so we'll be eating out somewhere tomorrow. No idea where and at this point I don't even really care, as long as I'm not the one cooking it. Supper tonight was fried eggs and sausage and Emmy ate her share.

If you'd like to share your Sunday Dinner menu/plans, just leave them in the comments.Adding to our eventful day, as Jason was on his way here to get Emmy, his car quit on him. Apparently the transmission went out on it and it's setting on the side of the road for the night. My niece was kind enough to go get Jason and then bring him by to pick up Emmy and take them home.

Tomorrow will be a busy day for Jason as he makes arrangements to get his car off the side of the road and get it worked on, hopefully before he has to be at work on Monday morning. However, if it's the transmission as we suspect, it's highly unlikely that there's any chance that it can be fixed before Monday morning.

It's probably going to be expensive and take several days to repair and get it back in running order, which leaves Jessica and Jason without a vehicle and needing a way to and from work for both of them.

Your prayers would be greatly appreciated for Jessica and Jason as they deal with this new crisis.

If it's not one thing it's another, it seems. My last post is a 10 THINGS MEME that I made up due to lack of blogging inspiration. If you're interested in reading it or doing the meme for your own post, have at it. I'd love to read your version of the meme so if you do this one, please let me know by comment or email.

As people let me know they've done the meme, I've been adding their links to the bottom of the meme post so we can all participate and read each other's answers.I posted some new recipes on MY RECIPE BLOG this week if anyone is interested. They're all holiday recipes from our family Christmases, but they can be enjoyed any time of year, of course.

This recipe for BLACK CHERRY JELLO COMPOTE makes a great Summer salad or light dessert, and MAMA'S BLACKBERRY JAM CAKE and ITALIAN CREAM CAKE are fabulous anytime, not just for the holidays.

If you missed this recipe for CORN SALAD last week you might want to check it out.I still have to study my Sunday School lesson and shell a mess of purple hull peas, and I'm in great need of some hot shower therapy, so I'm going to make this shorter than usual tonight. I trust you're all having a wonderful weekend thus far.

May God richly bless you and meet all your needs, and may you have enough to share is my prayer and my wish for each and every one of you, dear friends and family.

Sounds like you certainly deserve a break tomorrow! I hope you get to go out to a favorite place!
I will be baking a big ham for dinner. I want leftovers for sandwiches. The kids all have to take lunches as they go off to camp Monday (the boys) and Tuesday (the girls) so I will need more sandwich makings than I have on hand. I like ham but don't LOVE it. That is okay though..salad sounds really good.
Have a nice Sunday!!!

Oh boy, I'm so sorry to hear about Jason's car. That's just terrible. I really, really hope it's not the transmission and that it gets repaired quickly. I'm praying!

That's a long time you spent with Emmy! No wonder you're TARD! :-)

Hope you have a restful Sunday, Diane! Lots of hugs to you!

I'm TARD too, - Kristen has been working 22 hours a week these last few weeks, and it really screws with things like having any time off!

I can't believe the car broke down. That is just the worst possible scenario, judging by what Jessica wrote about her supervisor this week. We need a miracle!!

We're just having BLTs and corn on the cob today - except the corn was all gone when I finally got to the store yesterday, so I have to make a quick run and hope there's some there today. Lots of the corn around here was ruined by hail this last week. Sad!

You absolutely deserve to have dinner out Diane. It is wonderful to have those little ones stay with us, but it is definitely exhausting. You are a precious Grandma.
I'll be praying for Jason and Jess. It is discouraging to have these things happen.
Get some rest and relaxation today!

You have been a busy Gramma and deserve to just have a day (or two!) of rest! I hope you're able to just put your feet up and be waited on today...or as close to it as possible!

As for our Sunday meals - well, today is my "baby" boy's 25th birthday and we are eating out to celebrate. We'll be heading out in about an hour for a nice seafood dinner! No cooking, no dishes - sounds perfect!

Have a blessed week!

Hope you got some rest today Diane. I do hope the car problem is not the transmission, or is an easily cheap fix!

I had chicken pesto pizza for my dinner today. It hit the spot nicely!

Hope you have a wonderful week dear lady!

Don't you wish we had even a tiny smidgeon of the energy these little kids have? lol I'm sure you're loving having Emmy but I also have no doubt that you're exhausted by the end of the day:-)

Oh dear, so sorry to hear that Jason's car died on him, hopefully it can be repaired quickly and not cost an arm and a leg!!! As you say, it always seems to be one thing or another.

I'll have to check out your recipes:-) Can I not just hire you to come over here and cook for me???? lol

Take good care of YOU, my friend. xoxo

We had a day without cooking, too. Pat & her daughter go out to breakfast every Sunday, then shopping. Her other daughter invited us to their house for a BBQ with pulled pork, corn-on-the-cob, baked beans, potato & coleslaw salads and bread. Very nice, especially on a hot almost 90 degree day.

I know watching a baby can really take the energy out of you. She is such a doll though and I know she gives you lots of pleasure.

So very sorry to hear about Jason's car. Hope they are able to fix it quickly.

Hugs,

It isn't Sunday but I made potato salad and fried chicken today with some 'easy' baked beans. Also made snickerdoodle's to fix up my sweet teeth! Yep, I have more than one.

I can't begin to imagine how tired I'd be if I had a little one for three days. Bless your heart! I hope you get rested up before it happens again.

Too bad about Jason's car. It seems like it's one thing right after another with them. I pray it won't cost much to fix.

I hope you are keeping cool. Our temps have been scorching and I'm ready for a good cold rain.

God bless you and your's Dear Diane.

I don't blame you for not wanting to cook, Diane.... TF and I were on a quick trip to Florida last weekend to visit his parents... It's hard to say, but they are aging so fast...We had a great visit and we are home now to get back to business...lol.

Sorry to hear that Jason's transmission is having problems... I hope they are able to get it fixed in a reasonable time and without spending too much money. My prayrs are with them
