Sunday Dinner, June 21, 2009

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads in my life and who read this. More on that later, as it does pertain to my Sunday Dinner choices this week.

Because Sunday is Father's Day, and I'm not sure what everyone's plans are for Sunday Dinner this week, I'm in a bit of a quandary as to what to do about Sunday Dinner.

There's a chance that Lamar may go out to eat with his Mom for Sunday Dinner, but no word for sure on that yet.

There's a chance that JESSICA and Jason may take Lamar out to lunch for Father's Day, but that's still up in the air as well.

So that leaves me with no idea who may or may not be here for Sunday Dinner this week, or if we'll all end up eating out somewhere.

Here are my plans as of right this moment: I'm going to cook some boneless, skinless chicken breasts tonight. If I cook dinner tomorrow it will be HOMEMADE CHICKEN POT PIE, so I can throw it together at the last minute and stick it in the oven. A quick, one dish meal, and if I don't use the chicken for pot pie tomorrow I can always use it later for another meal.

What's the plan for your Sunday Dinner this week? I know a lot of Dads will treated to lunch out, which is no burden for the Moms who don't have to cook! Share your plans in the comments if you'd like.We still haven't heard anything from Lamar's blood work and lab tests. Lamar called the specialist's office on Friday and left a message with their answering service, requesting they call him back, but it's nearly 9 pm on Saturday night, so I think it's safe to say we're highly unlikely to hear anything from them before Monday morning at the earliest, if then.

His eye remains the same, with only half vision in that eye and we don't hold out much hope that it will ever improve.

A little news now regarding JESSICA, Jason and Emmy, which directly relates to me.

First, Jessica took and passed her test and now is a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant. Praise the Lord that's done!

And Jason now has a job, praise God once more! He's working again for Rent*One, delivering and picking up rentals. There are opportunities for him to move up in management, but he just started last week so we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Jason is working days, which means that there's a gap from the time Jessica goes to work and when Jason gets off work. This past week I've been keeping Emmy for several hours in the afternoons and then Jason has picked us up and we've gone on to Vacation Bible School at our church.

Jason had to work late Friday so he missed Emmy's graduation and program, but it happened that Jessica took some time off so she could be at Emmy's VBS program, so that worked out well.

But soon Jessica will start working 16 hour shifts, so I'm not sure what they're going to do about child care. Jessica will work three 16 hour shifts one week, then two 16 hour shifts the next week, to total 80 hours over a 2 week pay period, but with more days off per week.

I told her that's a lot of time to be on her feet in a shift, but they're going to try it for a while. We'll see how that goes, and we're just grateful that Jason and Jessica both have jobs now. We can work out the details as they become apparent.

For any of my readers who use Blogger as their blogging platform, are any of you having problems with Google Ads appearing in your sidebars or between posts when you haven't enabled them?

I've had a problem with this at least 3 times this week with my main blog, and when I visited MY RECIPE BLOG just now so I could link to my chicken pot pie recipe, I found that there were Google Ads on both the sidebar and between posts. I've disabled the ads every time but they keep showing up when I don't want them there.

Besides the fact that I don't like the look of them on my blog, I'm disabled, so any income from the ads might be a problem for me and count against my disability check. The government is very strict about that, and I don't want it to become a problem, especially since it's being done against my wishes to begin with.

As I mentioned earlier, we've had Vacation Bible School this past week at my church. I was the secretary, in charge of keeping the records and counting the offering each night. Jessica and/or Jason brought Emmy every night, and let me tell you, that little lady had herself a ball this week!

I finally got a video uploaded to my Facebook which you can see HERE, and I'm going to post a few pics here as well. I thought about uploading a video here, but it takes forever to upload, and I've already spent 1.5 hours uploading a 1 minute and 30 second video on Facebook.

I also uploaded a lot more pictures to MY FACEBOOK which you can see HERE if you'd like to click over to view them.

I'm not going to label these, so here they are in no particular order.Summer has arrived in Arkansas, just in time for VBS, of course. We've been under a heat advisory all week and our highs have been in the upper 90'sF with heat indexes into the upper 110'sF at times. The humidity has been brutal and smothers you as soon as you step outside away from the air conditioning.

Just a note:

Dear Air Conditioner, I love you. Please don't ever leave me.

Sincerely,

Your Biggest Fan

I've been tagged for a meme but this is already long and I'm running later than usual getting my Sunday Dinner post up, so I'll try to get the meme done early next week.

As I said, I want to wish a very happy Father's Day to all concerned, and I want to remember my Daddy, George Franklin Cook, September 26, 1923-December 19, 2004. I love you and miss you, Daddy.Y'all have a blessed and wonderful Father's Day and Lord's Day. May God bless you with all you need and may you have enough to share.

I'm doing ribs again tomorrow - second week in a row - because Mom requested it for Dad's special dinner here at my house.

The big girls have gone to VBS two weeks already and enjoyed them both so much. Ours is coming up July 6, and it'll be in the evening.

I hope Lamar gets his results back first thing Monday morning. Waiting is the pits.

Our church dosn't have it.
For dinner tomorrow we will be barbquing steak-kabobs. I will bake some sweet potatoes and some white potatoes too, and make a big green salad and we have watermelon and casaba melon too. I may just start the crock pot full of lima beans too. The girls and I LOOOOOVE our lima beans!

What great photos! I always love seeing how much fun kids have when they have the chance.

The one with you and your parents is sweet. You know that they are proud of you and are with you always.

Have a beautiful Sunday and tell Lamar "Happy Father's Day" for me.

Love, Vikki.

Hi Diane, I hope Lamar gets a chance to take his dad out for dinner....We need to pay particular attention to our parents as they age, they leave us all too soon as it is.... Please tell Lamar that I wish him a Happy Fathers day...

From what I have seen of Miss Emily, she had a fantastic time at VBS...I remember my younger years spending time at VBS, it was fun.

Hope you hear something soon about Lamar's condition...I'm holding out that his eye will improve....
Have a great week...Hope you work things out with the baby sitting..I don't think I could handle 16 hours days, even when I was 21years old.

I took a look at all your pictures from VBS over on facebook; they are all wonderful and brought back memories of attending when I was a kid! I so remember singing the song about the books of the Bible!

16 hours is an eternity!

I ahve already congratulated Jessica and Jason - wonderful news, Diane!! Such a relief that part is over. And I do hope the news on Lamar's eye is good too. I am dreadful at waiting too.

Lunch - well as the Grand Prix is on at the moment, and it is lunch time, and I have not started a thing........ I do believe we will have an early supper of baked fish and salad. Maybe. Or sausages and salad. Or salad. You never know!

We did the evening VBS thing too...5:30 to 8:15, and it included dinner every night. My older girls worked and the younger two attended. I sat in the volunteers' snack lounge and let people hold my baby. I'm a giver.

Have a blessed week, friend!

VBS isn't until July here. Can you say HOT? Ugh.

Heat advisories in KY already too.

LOVE the pictures. BAA. :o)

Thank you for your prayers!

How strange, Diane. I'm seeing Google Ads in your sidebar and under this post. It's a little scary that they'd show up on your blog when you didn't put them there.

The frustrating thing would be, just try to contact Blogger. No matter where you go in their help site, you can never contact them directly.

Happy Father's Day to Lamar. I'm still praying that the loss of vision in his eye is not permanent.

Hope you have a nice (air conditioned) new week. :-)

I see those google ads on your site. I'd be happy to put them om mine if they'd pay me!! I don't think I have enough readers for that to happen! LOL

I have no clue how they get there.

I had breakfast for my dinner today. Biscuits, sausage, and gravy. It was good! I had no breakfast, as is fairly usual for me.

We are having VBS at our church right now. Looks like you all are having fun, especially Emmy!! I know she is a bundle of energy!!

It's hot and humid here too. I love the A/C as well! I'd say A/C has lots of big fans!!!

Hope Lamar's doctor calls him back and that it's all good news.

Hugs!
Rachel

Diane,

I took hubby out to dinner for Father's Day and what a disappointment. The French fries he had were only half cooked, my mashed potatoes were terrible and the sauce on the meat tasted like tomato paste. It is all still sitting like a lump in my stomach.

Anyway, your dinner or not... sounds delicious. Hope you enjoyed the day.

Praise God that Jason and Jessica are both working. Prayers have been answered. However 16 hour days are killers. I used to work from 11am to 2 am the next morning and it eventually took its toll on my health. Tell Jessica to be sure and get lots of rest on her days off.

Take care and thanks so much for the update. Praying also for Lamar.

Blessings,
Mary

We did Boomerang Express last week too! I was the snack lady-traffic control lady-lady with the walkie talkie finding the kids lady. Lots of fun, but MAN AM I TIRED!!

What great news about the kids' jobs. That really is an answer to prayer.
Continued prayers for Lamar. It is so frustrating trying to get in touch with doctors these days.
I'm with you Diane. I don't think I could survive these triple digit days without my dear friend a.c.

Have a blessed week!

I really hope Lamar gets those results soon. Too much waiting! And I'm very sorry to hear you all aren't hopeful that his sight will return in his eye. I'll certainly be praying that it does.

Those photos are great, especially the adorable ones of Miss Emmy. She looks like she's having a great time. Such a cutie!

I compose similar love letters to my air conditioner in the summer. We haven't had to break ours out yet, but when we do it'll be true love all over again, just like last year.

Have a wonderful week, Diane.
Take good care. Lots of love.

For Sunday dinner, I grilled steaks on the bbq, as well as baked potatoes with chives, carrots and a salad. I love it when I can cook everything on the bbq...well not the salad of course! lol

Hopefully Lamar has heard from the doctor's office by now? You would think all his results would be in. My prayers continue for him.

I was so thrilled when I read on Jess' blog that she had passed her certification test...I'm so proud of her as well:-) Also great news about Jason finding himself a job. Hopefully things will keep looking up for them!!

Nope, I've never had Google Ads appear on my blog and I hope I never do! I can see why you wouldn't want them on your blogs either!!!

I had watched the video of Emmy dancing on your Facebook and she is just too adorable for words:-) Very much enjoyed seeing all the pictures as well.

The heat has finally found us here in Northern Ontario and it was in the low 90's today...hard to believe we had frost and snow just two weeks ago! Sheesh! Tomorrow it's supposed to be even hotter so I think I'm gonna park myself in front of my air conditioner and stay there! lol xoxo
