Sunday Dinner, May 10, 2009, Emmy's Birthday Party, & Happy Mother's Day!

I'm just gonna be honest here and tell you, I'm not sure what's going down for Sunday Dinner this week. There's a lot of things that are up in the air and quite a few "if-thens" so here's how I'm going to deal with Sunday Dinner this week.

I bought a big ham last week when I bought groceries. "If" we end up having Sunday Dinner here and don't go out to eat for Mother's Day, "then" we'll be having fried ham sandwiches and whatever anybody else drags in.

Thing is, Lamar is supposed to take his mother out for Mother's Day for lunch, and Jason "may" take Jessica out for Mother's Day lunch, and my sisters aren't sure what they're doing.

How's that for a lovely package of uncertainty?

So then - tell me your plans are a lot more concrete than mine and let us all know what you're doing for Sunday Dinner this week. Just let us have it in the comments if you'd like to share your plans or your menu this week.Continuing with the subject of Mother's Day, I want to wish all you Mamas, Mommies, Mothers and Mums, and all you Nanas, Grandmas and Grandmothers a wonderful and blessed Mother's Day.

This mother and grandma thing is a wild ride sometimes, but the blessings far outweigh the curses, don't you think, ladies?

Happy Mother's Day, Mom. I love you and miss you.

Jessie Lue Cook
June 28, 1929--April 13th, 2005Friday, May 8th was Emmy's 2nd birthday, which is almost impossible for me to comprehend, but nevertheless, it's true.

From this, just born:To this, on her 1st birthday:To the present:As you can see, there was a full house, overflowing into the yard. Between Jessica's side of the family and Jason's we had a crowd, and we may have violated some fire codes for occupancy. Parking spaces were at a premium as well and I hope none of Jessica's neighbors were too put out with us.

Sponge Bob was the theme for the party and Emmy had a big cake with Sponge Bob on it, plus cupcakes and ice cream. Emmy received a lot of nice gifts, including toys, clothes, and some cards with money in them. Emmy already knows who George Washington is, from the $1 bill, and asks for "dollars".

Of course she doesn't know what you do with dollars yet, she just thinks it's this nice green paper you can play with right now. I'm sure the concept of cash given in exchange for stuff will dawn on her soon enough.I haven't been blogging much this past week because I've been busy with life and I've also become addicted to a game on Facebook called Farmtown. Several of my blogging buddies also play so they know what I mean about being addicted to the game.

I've had to do my grocery shopping this past week, had an appointment with my dietitian for a checkup on my diabetes, and had a class at church to attend, among many other things. Hopefully I'll be able to comment more and maybe post more on the blog this coming week.

For those who've been following me in my journey with diabetes, I'm happy to report that my Hgb A1C was great this time at an even 6! That calculates to an average of 126 and my doctor was very pleased.

My cholesterol was great at 170, and my good cholesterol was on the high end, and my bad cholesterol was on the low end.

Overall, a good report, praise the Lord. Y'all have a blessed Sunday and a fabulous Mother's Day. May God meet all your needs, and may you have enough to share.

I was glad to come here and find your post after all.

We've had the four girls for 9 days news, due to illness - Kristen has been very sick. We are very tired. Last week-end was Mom's b-day celebration, then having the kiddoes all week - wow. So DC has been wonderful to make things easier - taking care of the kids at times, playing with them, and taking me to places to eat so I didn't have to cook.

Happy birthday to miss Emmy - hard to believe she's 2 already. She made quite a haul! Feisty is 5 on Tuesday - also unbelievable! We're having a little family get-together tomorrow afternoon. Care Bear made the cake tonight and was quite excited about it.
Happy Mother's Day!

Looks like Emmy had a wonderful fun filled party!! It's hard for me to believe that she is 2 already! Time sure flies by!

Not sure what I'll have for Sunday dinner either, but since it's mother's day maybe I'll treat myself! I never know what I'll have. I'm not a meal planner at all, as you probably have gathered by now!!

Happpy Mother's Day to you!! Hoorah on the blood work too!

OK, now the real post...lol. Miss Emily is growing up...It looks like she got some nice gifts for her B-day.

My middle child is cooking dinner for me this mothers day... I am glad that I don't have to cook and can go over to Jen's and enjoy a meal there.

Have a Happy Mothers day whatever you do.

Enjoy your day!
I'll have to check out that game on Facebook. I only play Scavenger Hunt so far.

Happy Mother's Day, Dear Diane! Praise the Lord for the great check-up results! It looks like little cutie-pie Emmy had a terrific birthday party. How did you get so lucky to have your first grandchild born so near Mother's Day?? I'll bet her birthday will be on Mother's Day several times in her life. Emmy is the perfect Mother's Day gift for her Mommy and Grandma!!

I'm fixing supper this evening for my daughter and her husband. They are coming over and will bring my sweet little grandson, Levi, over to visit. Supper will be pot roast with potatoes and carrots, green beans, corn pudding, and cottage cheese. Dessert is chocolate cake with white frosting. Nothing fancy, just good old comfort food!

God bless!
Terri

Thank you for everything you have ever done for me, all that you do now, and all that I know you will do for me and also for Emmy in thr future.

You are a loving mom and grandma...and I thank God for you.

It's really hard to believe Emmy is already two years old, Diane. I swear, those two years have flown by. A belated happy birthday to her. It's obvious she's spent the past two years just getting cuter and cuter - her hair is adorable.

That 126 is great - if we could keep Cameron at 126 on a steady basis, we'd be thrilled. Good for you - you've got a good handle on your diabetes.

As for Sunday dinner, we all went out for Mother's Day. :-)

Happy new week to you. xoxo

Don't tell me you had to cook on Mother's Day!! That's against the law isn't it?
Happy Emmy's day. She is such a beautiful child!
We had Mother's Day at my daughter's house and I had 5 of my offspring there (including some grandchildren). The captain brought his famous potato salad which was a huge hit, and we had all kinds of wonderful food and games.
God bless you, my friend.
Love,
Nancy

Wonderful news about your medical reports. I agree, PRAISE THE LORD!

Emmy's second birthday party looks like it was a great success. She looks like such a sweet little doll! I love her curls!

I had to chuckle about your Sunday dinner plans. Sometimes it's like that. We just have to wait and see what comes. That's how it was here on Sunday. I made a triple batch of Calico Beans and a lime-pineapple jello. The kids brought fried and roasted chicken, potato salad,(the salad was delicious and is the recipe my son-in-love's family used for years)also chips and dips, grapes and watermellon, and lots of different soda's to drink. There were also chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate cookies and those wonderful little cream puffs that I could eat a whole tub of if they weren't so unhealthy!

I spent most of the day making an elf garden with some of my great grandkids.

I hope you are having a good week Diane.
God Bless you and yours.

Happy belated Mother's Day to you too, dear Diane:-) I'm finally catching up with all of you, even though it's taking me a while! lol

Wasn't Emmy just born...like...yesterday?? Gosh, 2 years old already, it really is hard to believe isn't it! Lily is over 6 months old now so I know what you mean about time going by fast. They haven't sent me any pictures of her since before Easter so I'm rather upset about that:-( I'm sure she's changed a lot in over a month!!

Loved seeing the pictures of the birthday party, looks like it was a fun time:-) Also glad to hear that your doctor's visit had good results!! xoxo
