We're Alive! ***Edited***

Well, I had a post almost done and the power went off again, so I lost my post before I could hit save. Sorry about that.

After losing power on Tuesday evening, our power came back on just before midnight last night, and my internet just came back on at 8 am. It's really bad here and we're the exception in having power. Only like 5% have power and there are lots of people in shelters. We stuck it out here but we did have water. No heat, no refrigeration of course, no hot water, no lights, etc. but we bundled up and made it through. Everything I could save from my fridge and freezer is outside on my front sidewalk. It hasn't been above freezing here since Monday so most stuff is okay out there. I had to throw out some frozen veggies that got too mushy, etc. Hopefully I can get to town today to stock up on fresh food again.

It's going to be at least a month before all the downed trees and power lines, etc. are cleaned up and repaired and I just heard that a second man I know was killed by a falling tree. We have snow flurries and freezing fog right now but it's supposed to warm up a little more today.

As I type this the sun is trying to burn off the fog and the ice is beginning to melt off the trees and power lines. Our power has already been off several more times today, once for over an hour, a couple of times it's just flickered, but enough to cause my computer to have to reboot and my cordless phones, microwave and VCR to reset.
It's annoying but not nearly as inconvenient as having no power for 3 days!

Last time I talked with JESSICA a few hours ago they still had electricity, but we both know that as they work on the lines and more limbs, trees and power lines come down that our power will be off and on.

We're blessed, because they're telling some people in the mountains and in more rural areas that it may be at least 3 weeks before they get electricity again.

I'll post a few pics here for now until I can get more time to write a longer post and add more pictures. I just wanted to let all my friends and readers know that I'm okay. Just understand that my electricity and internet access is really iffy right now, so my posting depends on that.
Also, we're supposed to get more cold weather and snow for Sunday night into Monday.

Wheeee!

I'll be back when I can, folks.

Glad to hear you're all OK, Diane, but I sure don't envy you what you've been through for the past several days. Imagine all those people who may not get their power back for three weeks.

Stay in and stay safe - looks like it's going to be a mess there for a while longer.

OMGosh, Diane, those pictures look scary! Glad you and your family are ok. I've only been in one ice storm when we lived in TX so I know how treacherous they are.
Be safe!

Hello dear Friend!!!

I am so glad that you finally got power again! I know you are relieved!!! We don't know how much we rely on things until we don't have them, do we?

As they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words." The trees are laying right over! Pretty pics but not so pretty if your power is out, huh? I never thought about putting your food outside!

I was thinking of you having internet withdrawal symptoms! LOL Glad to see that you're back with us once again!!!

How is Lamar feeling? Hope he got over whatever he had. Must have been a miserable time for him to be sick and also frozen with no heat. I was thinking about you, though!!! Love ya!

Give me a good old snow storm any day! That looks absolutely brutal. I'm thankful you got enough time in to let us know you're alive, if not kicking!

Thank goodness all of you are well! I hope the storms are over, so your lives can return to normal

Sorry about your friend passing in such a tragic way. While he has moved on to a better place, I'll be sure to keep his family in my prayers.

Please take care and stay safe!

And warm!

Hi, Diane!

I'm so glad you're all right! My dad had to go get my grandparents yesterday afternoon because, well, they are in their 80s and they weren't coping well. They are not in very good health, either of them, and they were losing the ability to figure out how to cook, etc. I don't know if that's because they were so cold and had been cold for so long or what, but it was scary! They are in LR now with my mom and hopefully they will be able to go home this weekend, although I don't know that the power in Trumann is completely back on yet.

I've been saying a prayer for you guys and Jess and her family so I'm glad to know that the Lord was good!
Take care!
Kelli

I can see by your photos that you got WAAAAy more ice than we did. And the sun did thaw a lot of it off the trees today. You could watch them slowly lift back into more normal positions. I praise God for his answered prayers.

Diane, I'm glad you're safe and sound...albeit a little chilly and minus a few bags of frozen veggies! You're all in my prayers as you prepare for more winter weather.

I'm glad you are okay Diane! They say KY was hit the hardest but we were blessed and it went just north of our county! Praise the Lord!! My brothers still don't have electricity where they live. I heard on TV today that KY had 6 deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning from people using generators just in the past couple of days. Those things are dangerous if people aren't careful!

So glad your electricity is back on!! Keep safe and warm!! I've been thinking about you! That ice is sure pretty but so destructive.

Love and hugs,
Rachel

I'm glad you are okay, Diane. Boy, you all really got an ice storm didn't you? The only time I saw an ice storm like that was when I was about 12 or 15 years old. Can't remember just how old I was, but I can definitely remember the ice storm.
