Sunday Dinner, January 27, 2008 & Memes

Sunday Dinner time again it seems. All my blog buddies of long standing know what the chef with the question mark on his tray represents: Diane ain't cookin' Sunday Dinner this week. I don't know where or what we'll eat, but I'm not cooking.

I had Emmy most of the day today so Jessica could have a rest and get some things done at home. We had Ken*tucky Fri*ed Chicken for supper and Lamar leaves for Dallas/Ft. Worth Sunday morning to go visit his brother for a week.

My sister CECIL is really sick with the 'flu, a virus or whatever the crud is that's making the rounds these days and probably won't be here for Sunday Dinner this week, which just leaves me and probably my sister Ducky that would be here for the noon meal. All of those things add up to "I ain't cookin".

Please remember CECIL in your prayers if you've a mind to. Thanks, y'all.

What are your plans for Sunday Dinner this week? Just share your plans/menu in the comments if you want to participate this week.MIGHTY MOM tagged me for this book meme:

The Book Meme

1) One book that changed your life: Other than the Bible, there's not really any particular book that I would say changed my life. But I will say, that all the books I've read over my lifetime so far have collectively changed me by all I've learned from them. I'm a high school graduate, honor student, in the top 15% of my class, with no further formal education. But I would say that I've educated myself by reading, voraciously.

2) One book that you have read more than once: All the first 20 books of the "Boxcar Children" series by Gertrude Chandler Warner.

3) One book you would want on a desert island: My King James Bible.

4) One book that made you laugh: Sorry, I'm just really drawing a complete blank here.

5) One book that made you cry: "Old Yeller".

6) One book you wish you'd written: I don't know....what's the highest grossing book of all time? Oh, I think that may be the Bible. Maybe the "Harry Potter" series?

7) One book you wish had never been written: No idea here....

8) One book you're reading: Nothing at the present time. I tend to read really, really fast and don't usually take long to read a book, even a long book. I have a thing about finishing a book as quickly as I can. I don't like loose ends on much of anything, especially books.

9) One book you're going to read: The next 2 books in The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. I loved "Eragon" and "Eldest", now "Brisingr" is the next in the series and I can't wait for it to be published. This series was supposed to be a trilogy but now is set to be a 4 book series. MARY@MARY'S WRITING NOOK tagged me for another meme. This meme was created by Jan at Bold and Free. I'm s'posed to list 15 things that make it great to be me, so here goes.

1. So far I've awoken every day of my life. That surely counts as a great thing, don't you think?

2. I'm blessed with a wonderful family who loves me, and I love them.

3. My hubby and I are going on 23 years of marriage. All to each other!

4. I have a beautiful daughter, handsome son in love and a gorgeous granddaughter.

5. I have a loving and welcoming church home and church family.

6. Jesus saves! And He saved me 35 years ago.

7. Most of my needs and wants are met every day, as needed.

8. I have an affordable, comfortable place to live.

9. I am blessed with good friends who love me, and I love them.

10. I'm blessed to have discovered blogging almost 2 years ago.

11. I'm blessed by all the dear friends I've made here in Bloggityville.

12. Every day I can get out of bed and get around by my own efforts is a good day.

13. I had a good raisin' by my beloved parents.

14. I've been able to travel a bit here in the States and have enjoyed it immensely.

15. I am blessed beyond anything I deserve.JO@BITS AND PIECES tagged me for this linking meme. This is what the originator of the meme says about it:

My thanks to MIGHTY MOM for awarding me the Daily Dose Award. It's posted proudly on MY AWARDS PAGE.

I haven't forgotten that I still have some questions to answer and I will get to them, I promise. I wanted to go ahead and get these memes done before they completely slipped my mind. I realize that I didn't tag anybody for the book meme or the 15 Reasons It's Great To Be Me meme and I'm not going to tag anyone. If you want to do any of these, feel free. Just let me know if you do them so I can visit and read your answers.

I also have a few Emmy pictures to post next time for those of you who've been having withdrawals and are needing your Emmy fix (GREENEYES! for one, LOL! ;o)Y'all have a blessed Sunday. May God meet all your needs and may you have enough to share.

Hi Diane,

Will be praying for Cecil, lots of crud going around here too. Also, praying Lamar has a safe trip to see his brother.

Loved your blessed list. When we all think of it, we are truly so blessed more than we deserve and a lot more than most.

Don’t know the lunch plan yet but boy I hope it is something yummy. ;-)

Love and Hugs, Lyndy

Good Early Morning Diane,
I am up early huh? LOL. I actually went to bed around 5:30p.m. and slept till almost 8:00p.m. I got back up around 9:00p.m. and me and DH has been drinking coffee. I have been trying to catch up with everyone that posted today. I didn't post because we had a busy day and next Saturday is looking to be busy as well. My DH will be leaving out here around 1:30a.m. I'm not sure what my Sunday Dinner plans are again. LOL. Since DH isn't home on Sunday's anymore, I usually just fix me and the girls something quick and easy. It's that time of the month again and I'm not going to do too much. I do have laundry to do today tho. I will keep Cecil in my prayers as well as Lamar. I sure wish Cecil would get over that stuff. I know it has to be driving her crazy. I know it would me. I'll pray for safety travels for Lamar. I'm sure you didn't mind watching Miss Emmy so Jessica could have some Jessica time? Our girls spent the night with my Parents Friday night and me and DH had some alone time. The way his schedule is now, it's hard to get any alone time for the both of us. I enjoyed reading your book Meme. I read sometimes, but the mood has to strike me to do it. LOL. I also enjoyed reading your 15 things why it's great to be you Meme. I just got thru doing that one last week. I will do this Tag linking Meme one day next week if that's okay. I may have to email you to get more details about it. "CONGRATULATION'S" on another well deserved Award. You do deserve each and every Award you receive. I have received some Awards from last week and tonight as well. I am going to post about them this coming week as well. Seems like when I think I am caught up, I see I am behind again. LOL. Take care my friend and have a great evening/early morning. May God Bless You and Yours. We are under a Freezing Fog Advisory until 8:00a.m. It never made it up higher than 33 degrees here Saturday.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Hi Diane,
I enjoyed reading all your lists and learning more about you. I've been reading more of your archives too and even visiting Cecil! I will pray for her and also for Lamar on his trip.

I'm going to add you to my Bloggy Friends list if that's okay. That way I can find you easier when I visit! I'm getting senile and get lost easy! :)

Hugs,
Hope

Interesting lists you gave us. I enjoy hearing those kinds of thngs aobut my blogging friends00Makes us all seem more "real"!

I have some of the same reading habits that you do. I read fast and don't like to stop until I finish a book. Of course, that is not always practical, but I have stayed up TOO late many nights because I can't stop reading! I also do not like to start a book and not finish it. However, there have been a few along the way that I decided were not worth the effort. That doesn't happen often. Books--You can't be bored in life with so many books to be read!

Always love hearing from you, dear lady! Have a good Sunday!

Cliff and I have enough leftovers from yesterday for today's meals. So I won't be cooking either, except for a little heating up. I'm saying a prayer for Cecil.

I did the Book Meme on my blog this morning. Thanks!

Not surprised you were on the honor roll.

I'm not cooking either. Finally made a big pot of white beans from the ham bone left over from the holidays and I have corn bread as well. I might add some rice but that's about it for me.

Hope Cecil gets to feeling better soon.

I always enjoy our sunday visits Diane. The memes were fun. The more I get to know you the more blessed I feel.
I am going to join you in the "non-cooking" category today. I made a huge pot of soup the other day, so it's leftovers for us tonight. I really like it when I don't have to get off the couch too often on sunday afternoon (I was a good girl and did my bike ride this morning).
Enjoy the day with your sister, and I'll be praying for Cecil.

Diane... I enjoyed reading your your list of 15. It is a great way to get to know a little more about our friends. You are one of the most greatful friend in everything.

I fixed a pot of homemade soup with a pan of biscuits for my dinner today.

I will add Cecil and Lamar to my prayer journal.

I can't wait to see more photos of Beautiful Emmy!

Have a restful nights sleep and a wonderful new week ahead.

Hi Diane,
Well, it's way past dinnertime here and we had some leftovers tonight. We were both exhausted when we left Grandpa. I'll keep Cecil in my prayers. There's just so many bugs floating around at this time of year.

Hi Diane,

I'm glad you didn't have to cook dinner today. That must have been a nice change for you. I always like it when I can get out of cooking.

I'm sorry Cecil is sick. There has been one or two from church out sick with whatever it is that's going around. I'll remember Cecil in my prayers.

I wouldn't do well on the book meme as I really don't like to read. I read slow, and I think that's why I don't enjoy it.

I enjoyed reading the 15 things that makes you glad to be you. I feel I know you a little better now. I can see you have God at the center of your life, and that's a good thing.

Congratulations on your award. You are very deserving.

Have a good week, Diane

Diane,

I'm glad to see you are taking a break from cooking. You deserve it. Sunday, after all, is a day of rest. We had a beef roast and I put the potatoes, carrots and onions in with it. I made gravy and it was all so delicious. Hubby loved it and it was a welcome treat.

Boy, you really got hit with the memes, didn't you. I enjoyed reading them, especially the book meme. I love books and always have one going. I read every night before I go to sleep. It is my way of relaxing.

I enjoyed my time here, as always. Please drop by my blog and pick up a copy of the You Cheer Me award.

Blessings,
Mary

Goodness! You did some housecleaning with this post, Diane. LOL

Keeping Cecil in my prayers - I hope it's not the real flu and is just a virus. The real flu is scary.

I think we're all just about ready for spring to arrive. My poor little Cameron recovers from one virus and within days, he's got another one.

I made meatloaf Saturday so we had leftovers yesterday. Well, Rob had leftovers and I had baby shower food. LOL

Here's wishing you a nice new week, Diane.

Your reading meme reminded me of this quote:

When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young.
~Maya Angelou~

Nice to catch up with you today...I'm tard this evening, but it is a good tired...I made 7 can soup and then goodies for the tea...mostly easy ones, I'll show ya tomorrow.

Have a great evening!

Diane, Congratulations to you, too on your award and your SG. Those aren't "awards", like "I like your blog" or anything. I mean, we work for the Silly Goose, don't we?! I still have you and Emmy on my prayer list. Update me on testing and such, please? I just had the bug this weekend, but I think I'm about over it.
