Sunday Dinner, November 18, 2007

Sunday is here again already? I mean, Sunday is here again already! And I am cooking Sunday Dinner this week, believe it or not.

I'm going to make a big meatloaf, a big pot of pinto beans with some smoked hog jowl to season them, mashed potatoes and either PANBREAD or CORNBREAD, and maybe some green beans or whole kernel corn to round out the meal, according to how many show up for mess call.

Now, what's on the menu at your place? Going to Grandma's or out to eat? Just share your menu or your plans in the comments to participate in Diane's Sunday Dinner.I am disgusted to report that I'm still battling the creeping crud, or whatever this ailment is that I've had for almost 2 weeks now. I'm still faithfully choking down my antibiotics twice a day and have little improvement to show for my efforts. I'm still hacking and coughing almost incessantly although I will say that my throat feels better. It's not sore anymore but that could be because I've coughed up all the nerves lining my gullet.Jessica had the afternoon off work yesterday so she could take Emmy for a checkup. She came and got me and Lamar and dropped us off at the local mall then came back to shop a little. I made myself comfortable at Star*bucks in Barnes*&*Noble with a book and a cup of black coffee. When Jessica came back to the mall she left Emmy with me while she did her shopping.

There's a pic of my coffee cup and a sleeping Emmy. She napped most of the time we were at the mall, although I don't know how she slept with all the racket from the music on the P.A. system and the crowds of people trying to talk over the music. You can see some of the crowd in that other pic to the left if you'll click on it to enlarge it.

Jessica and Jason invited us over for supper after we got done at the mall so we visited with them and Emmy for several hours. Jessica made MEXICAN CHICKEN CASSEROLE for supper and it was really good.

Emmy is feeling much better and is back to her usual sunny self. She was smiling so much at us yesterday that Jessica commented that if Emmy kept grinning so widely she was going to crack her face! She sure was showing off those 2 new bottom front teeth.

I was too busy playing with Emmy to get any pictures other than the one of her sleeping. Would you believe that she's sitting up by herself and crawling now? All in the last week or so!

It was the funniest thing. I have a laser pointer that I take with me to play with Jessica and Jason's cats. I noticed that Emmy was really watching the red laser light on the floor, so I asked Jason to put her in the floor. I shined the laser light in front of her, and Emmy took off after it! It was so cute, and we laughed until we cried. She'd crawl so fast after that light! She was fascinated with the light, and we were fascinated with Emmy. She's learning and progressing by leaps and bounds right now, and Jessica told us that Emmy said "bye bye" the other day, although I haven't heard her say anything yet. It won't be long until she's chattering away, and she'll be walking in no time, I'm sure.
My blogging buddy KAREN @ KAREN'S KORNER has given me The Community Blogger Award, and my friend JEN @ MY 3 BOYS AND I has given me the lovely award there to the right.

I'm so thankful for all my blogging buddies and what each friendship means to me. Thank you, ladies, and rest assured, the feeling is more than mutual.

The friendships that I share with each of you is what keeps me blogging.
I've got some cooking to do tonight for tomorrow's Sunday Dinner and I still need to study my Sunday School lesson, so I'll hush for now.

May God meet all your needs, and may you have enough to share.

Your dinner sounds yummy :)
Sorry you're still battling the crud, but it sounds like Emmy is doing real well. Love that sleepy head pic!
Tomorrow is my turn to cook and Bill is going to bbq tri tip on the grill. I'm making chili and salad to go with it. We'll probably be eating chili leftovers till Thursday and the big feast day. Saves on menu planning!
love and ((hugs))

Good Evening Diane,
Your Sunday dinner sound yummilicious. Hubby always loves it when I fix white beans. I always put some kind of meat in it because he is a big meat eater. He has to have some kind of meat at every meal. I fixed a new made up recipe tonight for mine and his supper. The girls had gone to Mississippi with my parents and sister for the day and didn't get home till a little after 7:00p.m. tonight. I'm going to post this new recipe I made up on my blog either tomorrow or Monday. I'm not going to post anything tonight cause ain't much of nothing been going on. Hubby did make it home safely yesterday about 5:15p.m. I'm glad Emmy is feeling much better. I hate that you are still feeling a little down. My nose is still kind of stopped up also. That stuff just don't want to go away. I wish I had been there at the mall and sitting at Starbuck's with ya. It's a good thing I wasn't tho, cause I would have been up all night from drinking so much coffee. LOL. Jessica's Mexican Chicken sounds delicious. I have fixed it before myself, but it's been a long time since I have done it. I might have to do it after Thanksgiving. Well, guess I'll go for now. I'm glad you liked the award. Congratulations on your other award from Jen. You definetly deserve every award you receive. You are such a great friend. I really appreciate all that you have helped me with. Take care my friend and have a Blessed Sunday and May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Diane,

You Sunday meal sounds wonderful. I'm too far away to make it in time. I will have to pass. :-)

Emmy is beautiful. I'm glad you were able to spend time with her. Grandchildren are so precious. I can see her crawling after that light. Kids brighten our lives in so many ways.

Take care, my friend. Blessings for a great week to come.

Forget my dinner tonight, I'm comin' over to your place to have your dinner! lol Sounds so good!!! I do hope you start feeling better soon, two weeks of feeling yucky is no fun at all. Great that Miss Emmy is over that bug that had a hold of her for so long...gosh, crawling already!! She looks so peaceful in that picture:-) At the Santa Claus Parade last night there was a baby sleeping in a carriage near me...how she could sleep with the bands playing, thousands of people talking, etc, I'll never know! lol xox

Isn't it amazing that as soon as you got insurance coverage, you got sick?? Weird. Glad it's better, and hope it's gone soon!

We had tacos and tostados for dinner today, out on the picnic table believe it or not. We had a lighter lunch because tonight is the annual Thanksgiving dinner at church. I'm just taking 7-layer salad and peas. Simple, simple. But I'll be getting ready for 19 on Thursday.

It is such fun when those little ones start catching on to what is possible, and then they do it. Love the laser chasing mental picture. Would love to see that. We used to do that with one of our cats and we laughed so much.

Have a great week!

Diane, I hope that you are beginning to feel better and ready for that big day on Thursday.

Emmy is growing so fast. I know that she was a hoot crawling around after that laser light. We did that once with Gstormy and David and I both laughed so much our sides were sore the next day.

You are such an inspiration to us all. I am so blessed with your friendship.

Hope you are well soon!
(((HUGS)))from me to you.

I know how you feel. I thought I'd never get over the stuff I had last month. Thankfully, I'm 100% better now but it was rough, feeling rotten for over three weeks. I hope you get over it soon.

And it's got to be a huge relief that the baby is finally back to normal. I can just picture her going after that laser light. How sweet is that?

She'll be talking your ear off in no time!

I'm glad to hear Emmy is doing so much better. She's probably cracking her face with smiles because she's so happy to be feeling better.

Watch out now that she's mobile! Life will never be the same!! :-)

Diane I'm do happy to hear that sweet Emmy is better. Having a sick child is so heartbreaking. Especially the tiny ones who can't tell us where they hurt or how they feel. Thank God she is well again, and I pray she stays that way.

Now I pray you get well soon. SOme of these colds are horrible. I am thankful that since I began using my mama's old remedy I haven't had a cold or a sinus infection at all, and I used to have many each year.
Plain old raw honey and chewable acerola vitamin 'C'. The best medicine I ever took. No side efffects, don't make me drowzy and it tastes real good too.

I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving Diane.

Love to you

We had Sunday dinner at home with a beef roast Pat cooked. Tomorrow we are going to her daughter's new house for dinner. There will be 27 or so there and the main meats are a deep fried turkey and many pounds of prime rib. Everyone brings something- we are taking pumpkin pie and a couple of different wines. I went there last year and it is quite a feast. Now in the new house there is even more space for people to spread out into.
