Sunday Dinner, November 11, 2007

First things first, I suppose. Those of you who are especially astute have already noticed the question mark on the chef's serving tray and figured out that I don't know what I'll be doing for my Sunday Dinner this week.

Hubby will be home in the wee hours of the morning after a long tiring trip home from Texas on Am*trak and may or may not want to go out somewhere to eat dinner. I already know my sister Cecil won't be here since she's spending the day with her hubby. That leaves me and Ducky and possibly Sue, and maybe Lamar for dinner. Ducky and I agreed that we'll go out for Sunday Dinner, but where we'll end up will be decided tomorrow after church.

Now, what's on the menu for your Sunday Dinner, or what are your plans? Just spill your guts in the comments, figuratively speaking, of course. Before I get to any more of my ramblings I want to take the time to recognize all the soldiers who have served our country, past and present; men and women; wartime and peacetime. This Veteran's Day I want to thank each soldier and his/her family for their sacrifice to preserve our freedoms.

My Daddy served in WW2 in Hawaii and Okinawa. Several of my uncles and cousins also served in WW2. Two of my brothers in law served as well and two nephews, one in Desert Storm. The Navy, Army and Marines are represented among those soldiers, and I am proud of them and grateful for their service.Sweet MARY@MARY'S WRITING NOOK has blessed me with The Colors of Friendship Award. You can read about it by clicking on the button to the left.

I treasure my blogging friends and appreciate all of them. There are so many differences between us that it's interesting to learn about new things and new places, and yet we all have so many things in common at the same time.

Thank you, Mary. :-)By coincidence, when I arrived at my doctor's office yesterday I ran into Jessica, Jason and Emmy. They vaguely remembered that I had told them I had to go to the doctor, but didn't remember when. They hadn't mentioned to me that Emmy was due for her 6 month shots so it was completely unexpected that we were there at the same time.

By another coincidence, I was escorted to the exam room next door to them and heard poor Emmy when they gave her the shots, bless her heart. She was just beginning to feel a little better and now today she's running a high fever and feeling yucky again.

For those of you who've been lifting Emmy and the rest of us up in prayer, Thank You! And I would appreciate it if you'd keep praying for Emmy. I hope she shakes off this reaction to her shots soon. She's been sick for weeks now and I want my healthy happy baby back! And while you're at it, if you wouldn't mind, lift me up in prayer as well. I'm fighting a sinus infection and I'm not feeling too swooft right now. It's been coming and going all week, but I think this time it's come to stay for a while.

Also, I've had some tests run and have to go back for more next week. I may have some serious health problems but I won't know the results of the tests for a while. You know how it is when you're waiting on test results and a diagnosis. It's not anything like cancer or anything immediately life threatening. As soon as I hear the results I'll let everyone know.

I would appreciate your prayers for me in the meantime, dear friends and family. I know this is a bit vague but I don't want to jump the gun by putting it all out there and then having to retract some or all of it.I've washed, dried, folded, hung and put away 6 loads of laundry today besides cooking a big pot of chili and assorted other housework. The singing/fellowship was great but I'm feeling a bit draggy and just a tad icky due to this sinus infection. I'm going to publish this and study my Sunday School lesson, then try to get to sleep with my stuffed up/runny nose.

Y'all have a blessed Sunday. May God richly bless you, and may you have enough to share.

Thoughts going out for your and Emmy - hope you're both feeling better soon. And praying for good test results for you!

I have NO idea what's cooking for Sunday dinner. Probably Weight Watcher meals in the microwave!

Have a great day and get better.

Dinner? Maybe I'll finally do that clam chowder. I have four cold cooked red potatoes in the fridge. That's a start. I was wondering what to do with them.

Went shopping yesterday and now I have almost too many choices.

I hope Emmy has less of a reaction this time around and that you're getting some rest.

Keeping all of you in my prayers.

It looks like a mish-mash for our lunch. Checks we've been anticipating for more than a month, now, have not arrived. We aren't going to church because we have no gas for the cars. I've got a cold/flu thing and so I probably wouldn't have gone to church anyway. They're having a potluck dinner, and I guess ours will be, too. I'm absolutely praying for you and Emmy.

Good Afternoon Diane,
I hope you had a great time at Church last night and didn't eat too much chilli. LOL. I love to make homemade chilli with all the trimmings that go with it. I love your post about our Veteran's. I just did a post on my blog a little while ago. I do hope you get to feeling better soon. Mine is just about gone. It has been with me for about 2 weeks. They just don't want to leave us alone do they? LOL. I do hope sweet Emmy gets better soon. She has really had a tough time. I will keep all of you in my prayers. I hope Lamar made it home safely and gets rested up. Please be sure to let us all know when the coffee maker arrives tomorrow. LOL. Take care my friend and have a great Sunday.

Hugs,
Karen H.

Good grief! Look at all the blatherings and flounderings you've done while I was gone! LOL

First, no ma'am. There aren't many things in this world sweeter than cuddling a sleeping baby and I'm counting the days until March 1st when I'll get to do that again.

Poor little thing. What a rotten deal that just as she's beginning to feel a little better, she has to have those shots. I know how much you all look forward to her getting over all this stuff and just being happy and healthy again.

Your mention of test results is a little unsettling. You know you'll be in my prayers and I hope we find out how this turns out soon.

Thank goodness you finally have access to medical care again!

Hope you have a nice restful and healthy week my friend.

Poor Emmy! Care Bear had her kindergarten shots the other day and it's no more fun as they get older! I trust that what you find out will be the beginning of feeling really good!

We had an international dinner tody at church following a missionary service. It was really fun and lots of interesting foods that people brought representing their ethnic backgrounds.

Diane,

You are definitely deserving of the award and am glad you enjoyed receiving it.

Lovely tribute to our veterans. Today is Remembrance Day in Canada.

I will left all of you up in my prayers. Please keep me in yours, as I'm fighting a cold and having been feeling up to par either.

Please drop over to my blog and participate in my Christmas book giveaway.

Blessings for a great week.
Mary

Dinner tonight consisted of lasagna, baked potatoes, salad and garlic bread. One of my favourite meals:-) Awwww poor Ms Emmy with her reaction to shots and you with your sinus infection and waiting for test results...you are both in my prayers!! Congratulations on the award, you deserve each one that is out there:-) Remembrance Day here...Veteran's Day there...all for the same reason...we will never forget our heroes from yesterday, today and tomorrow. xoxo

If they tell you that you have high blood pressure, you might ask them to check it again when your precious grandbaby is not the next room over getting shots...
Forever more...mine would have flew through the roof!

I pray you all get well and sooner rather than later!

As for me, yesterday I awoke to sleet hitting my windows...I got up and made us a "farm hand" breakfast and then we didn't eat much the rest of the day..lol...it warmed up enough that the sleet turned to rain which was good, but it was a good day to stay in and snuggle...

Take care, and keep us updated as you can.
Love YOU!

Knock Knock Diane,
I'm coming over to see if you have any coffee ready yet? LOL. I do hope you have your new coffee maker already. I just had to come over and do this. Hope it didn't make you mad. I do hope you are feeling better. I think mine is trying to come back again. I woke up this morning all stuffy again. It's this weather I do believe. I've got my air-conditioner on again. LOL. I'll probably turn the heat on tonight. That's the way I've been doing around here lately. Take care my friend and hope you do get to feeling better soon. God Bless You.

Hugs,
Karen H.

I have been under the weather myself and I left church after Sunday school and came home and went to bed. Later I had some lentil soup.

I do hope your tests are okay Diane. Sure don't want you having any serious medical problems. I will add you to my prayer list, as well as sweet little Emmy!!
