Happy Birthday, Jessica, Sue & Ducky!!

First of all, I want to wish my daughter, Jessica, a very HaPpY BiRtHdAy!! She will be 20 years old tomorrow, Saturday, November 3rd.

And, my sisters Ducky and Sue will also celebrate their birthdays on November 3rd, different years. There are 2 years between them but their birthdays are both on November 3rd. I won't say exactly how old they are, but Sue's the oldest and Ducky is next oldest.

Happy Birthday, Sisters!

If you think it's strange that Jessica, Sue and Ducky all share the same birthday, different years, you'll think this is even weirder. My other 2 sisters, CECIL and DONNA, also share the same birthday, February 19th, 11 years apart. I'm the only one of the 5 sisters who has her own birthday, October 23rd.Time to acknowledge a blog award from my dear friend, ANGELA @ LIFE AND TIMES OF GRAN. Sweet Angela has given me the SWEET TREAT AWARD and I'm very grateful that she thinks my blog is a sweet treat to read. Several of my favorite bloggers have received this award and I'm flattered to share their company.

Thank you so much, dear Angela!I know I've been a bit scarce this week on the blogging front but nothing is wrong. Just had some business to attend to this week and having a flare up of my arthritis.

As you know if you're a regular reader of my blog I've had a lot of difficulty with my office chair(s). I had 2 office chairs to begin with, an older wood and naugahyde (anybody besides me remember and know what naugahyde is?) monstrosity that is ugly and ungainly but built like a tank, and a newer leather model that acquired a broken leg and had to be shot. Or put out on the curb for the garbage guys to pick. Same thing.

When the newer office chair broke, I went in search of a new one. In the meantime I was using the old monstrosity. I bought 2 new office chairs, on different occasions, brought them home and assembled them, then ended up disassembling them and putting them back in the boxes for return to the store. They were just uncomfortable and I was sort of like the prince in search of the foot that fit his glass slipper, only in reverse and it wasn't my foot I looking to find the perfect fit for. Otherwise it was EXACTLY like the prince.

This past week the Ye Old Monstrosity chair broke down, so I've had to use one of my dining chairs here at the computer. Not good. Not good at all. Something about the angle and height of my dining chair is just not a good position for me and my arthritis has been giving me fits, so I haven't been blogging much or even using my computer much at all.

But things are beginning to look up. I got a new office chair! Yay! It's similar to the one pictured there, except it's brown with a fancy name, but still just brown. Right now the new office chair and I, we're in love. Let's hope the flames of romance continue to blaze, because I've had my heart broken far too often of late by office chairs that promised me the world and then jilted me.Part of the business I've had to deal with this week concerns my disability. We've had to make several trips to our local Soc*ial Sec*urity office and to the Dep*artment of Hu*man Ser*vices to take care of my insurance and my monthly check.

I'm ecstatic to report that I'm the proud new owner of a valid insurance card and I received my first regular monthly disability check this month! It's not much but every little bit helps and the most important thing is that I now have insurance. I have appointments to see my doctor and my optometrist for the first time in over 2 years.

Praise the Lord! What a blessing! I am so thankful to finally have my disability.I'm also happy to report that Jessica and Jason will be moving into their new rent house this weekend. They've been working hard every day to get the house painted and ready to move into. They still have some work to complete on the house but they can work on it after they get moved.

Lamar and his Mom and I had some shopping to do Thursday (including my loverly new office chair) and on our way home we stopped by Jessica and Jason's place to see the progress they've made and visit with Jason a bit. He's still job searching but in the meantime he's been working on the house every day while Jessica is working at the daycare. I had my digital camera with me but I left it in my purse, which was locked in the car, so I didn't get any pictures. I'll try to get some pictures soon.As I type this I have a beef roast cooking in the oven for our supper. Part of Jessica's gift from me and Lamar is her favorite meal of my homemade beef roast, potatoes and gravy, so they'll be joining us for supper tonight. I already gave her the rest of her gift. She needed clothes, so I let her pick out a shirt she liked the other day, and I got her some, um, unmentionables, as she requested. Unmentionable not because I don't think you can handle the real words, but because of the creepy searches, if you get my drift.

Anyway, I got her a couple of upper foundations and some unmentionable bottom foundations and she assures me that she is pleased with them, which is unusual. Sometimes I can please her with my clothing choices for her, but more usually not. That's why I let her choose the blouse she liked the other day when we were shopping together.Lamar and I have plans to go to Memphis on Saturday to Red*Lob*ster for lunch, then we'll be going to our church's weinie roast and hayride which was rescheduled from last Saturday night. Otherwise we'd be helping Jessica and Jason move, but my contribution would be taking care of Miss Emmy.

So we have a full day planned for Saturday. It's forecast to be a beautiful Autumn Saturday here in the Midsouth. It's sunny and 65ยบ right now, perfect, and the leaves are beginning to show more Fall color. Another couple of weeks and the leaves will be near the peak of color here. We should see some good color on our 1 ½ drive to Memphis and back, and then we'll have a couple of hours to rest and perhaps take a nap, then it will be time for the weinie roast and hayride. It's going to be a crisp Autumn evening, just right for a fire and for a little snuggling on that hayride.

I can hardly wait!I'm going to visit as many of you as I can before the roast gets done and I have to peel the potatoes to add to the roast and finish cooking supper, so I'm going to try to get this published and make my way through my Bloglines.

I'll be back Saturday night to post my Sunday Dinner plans, Lord willing.

Y'all have a great Friday evening, and a wonderful weekend.

Good Afternoon Diane,
Well, Congratulations on your award there. You truly are a sweet treat and a very good friend. I appreciate you helping me over the phone the other night. If you have been by my site, I have added a couple of more on my blogrolls. I really do appreciate you helping me do that. Tell Jessica, Sue, and Ducky "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" for me. Do they blog also? My sister and mother's birthday is this month also. My sister's is the 7th and my mom's is the 12th. I have a sister-in-law whose birhtday is the 21st of this month. Busy time for us this month too. I am glad Jessica and Jason are getting to move this weekend. At least it is before really cold weather. They say next week the highs will only be in the 50's and lows in the 30's. I just checked KAIT8.com and they have next Thursday night down to 32. Now that will be cold. Sorry about the chairs. You know they don't make things like they used to. I still have my mother's couch from when they bought in the early 60's and it was made out of naugahyde. She had it recovered years ago and it is a sleeper also. You talk about a heavy couch to move. Yep, they don't make em like they used to. I do hope this chair will take care of you. I bought my computer desk at Wal-Mart a few years back and when we got it home out of the box going to put it together, well wouldn't you know, there was no instructions. I had to call them and have them to fax me some instructions. Needless to say, we got the instructions and hubby got it together a little after midnight. I am so glad u finally got you insurance card. Also, I am glad you got your check started too. I am thinking seriously about trying to get disability started on my. I just hate to do all that paperwork and having to wait. That is the toughest part. Anyway, congratulations on that part and "PRAISE THE LORD". I am jealous of you now. I love Red Lobster. I am a big seafood lover and I do mean big. LOL When we go eat chinese, I eat more seafood than chinese. LOL Anyway, have a good time and eat plenty for me. Sounds like your Saturday is going to be fun. I hope you enjoy your hayride and weiner roast as well. My sister is very picky on her clothes. She won't wear clothes from Wal-Mart. They have to come from Penney's or some other shops in Memphis. So, I always give her some money on her birthday and at Christmas. I usually give my mom money on her birthday as well. What am I supposed to give a mother that has everything? Well, take care my dear friend and enjoy your weekend. Again, "THANKS" for helping me out the other night and congratulations on your award and your disability. Take care my dear friend,
Hugs,
Karen H.

Congratulations on finally getting the disability issue settled and especially on that insurance card. Believe me, I know how great that is.

All those duplicate birthdays ARE weird but I'll bet it makes for some big celebrations!

I'm so glad things are finally going really well for you, Diane.

When I first bought the computer, Ray went out the same day and found a computer chair for $2. at the thrift store.

It has a split in the seat (it may be naugy too) but still going strong. I have another one with arms but they get in my way. Too many years spent typing in an office I guess.

I'll be out of town Sunday and may be busy tomorrow so I'll say Happy Birthday to all right now.

Please pass it along.

Have a good weekend.

Would you send me Karen's url? I can't get her blog to come up full size and when I tried a search I found every Karen's Corner except her.

Most of them from Florida, one from Canada, none from Caraway. (I know where that is too).

Meantime I'll try a google search and see if I have better results.

Diane,

I've missed you but realize you had things to do other than blog. I too have arthritis and a couple of years ago went through the same thing with the chair. It's not fun finding a chair that will fit like a glass slipper. hehe.

I'm glad you were able to get insurance. That is important. We are lucky here in Ontaro to have OHIP (Ontario Hospital Insurance Plan) which covers all doctor's visits. It used to, but no longer, pays for optometrist visits. However, we are lucky to have health insurance.

I enjoyed catching up on what is going on in your life. Have a great weekend. I keep you in my prayers.

Well, if I had known you were going to be in Memphis, I would have scheduled a nephew visit, driven down, and treated y'all to lunch. But there's always next time...besides, Boomama would kill me if I did that without her!

Happy Birthday to the Sisters and Jessica!

Have fun! :)

It is always a pleasure to visit with you here my sweet friend. I am so glad that J & J are getting moved this week. I know they will be glad to have the move over.

How interesting that your sisters share the bdays they do.

So thankful that you found your Prince (chair) I know how uncomfortable a bad chair is.

Thankful too that you got your insurance and check, a true blessing indeed.

Your Saturday sounds like fun. Have a wonderful time.

Love and Hugs, Lyndy

PS Praying your arthritis pain feels better, I know how bad that can be.

Happy Birthday to Jessica, Sue, and Ducky! That's pretty amazing that they all have the same birthday. To honor this special occasion, I think we should all set our clocks back one hour tonight. ;o)

Oh, what a busy birthday week! What fun.

You have the honor of getting the very first comment typed on my new laptop. So far so good! Typing is a tad different, though. I keep getting in the wrong pew!

Have a wonderfulweek-end.

So glad to hear you got yourself a new chair...mine looks a lot like the one in the picture...sometimes it fits me too well...lol!

Tonight Hubby is off and we are going to a Salsibury Steak supper at a local Church with Miz Dipsey...last week it was Amish Noodles remember?

Hi Diane,
Happy Birthday to all the birthday girls. That is interesting that groups of you share different birth days!
Hope that new chair is extra comfy. Nothing worse than trying to sit and work from an uncomfortable spot!
Your roast dinner sounds delish.
Hope it's a fun family time!

A good chair is SO important to us computer users, glad you've taken care of that (and yourself).

Great news about your disability checks coming through, that must be a relief. Little Emmy looks quite happy with herself in a previous post. She's definitely on the mend!
