Tuesday Happenings

Actually, I think that title's kind of a misnomer because not much happened here today. Cecil and Sue didn't come over this morning as they had other plans today, although Cecil did come over for a few hours this afternoon. I told her she wasn't coming to see me, she was coming to see Emmy. ;-)

Emmy and I had a pretty quiet day today. She was worn out after our day Sunday after going to church morning and night. She's not used to having her routine upset and having all that attention from her many admirers. She slept most of the day Monday and was just getting back to our usual routine today.

It rained off and on here all day Tuesday and boy, was it ever a welcome relief from the heat and the drought. It wasn't a gully washer, more a steady rain and then drizzle here and there throughout the day. It was cloudy and overcast all day and the temperature never made it above 80 degrees. For Arkansas in July that's almost unheard of, and don't think it wasn't appreciated. Thank you, Lord, for the rain! We have a good chance for more rain on Wednesday as well.

I'm remembering now why it was so hard to get much of anything done with a small baby in the house. When I said that Emmy slept most of the day I didn't necessarily mean that she slept for long periods at a time. The longest amount that she slept at a stretch was about 3 hours. The rest of the time it was in fits and starts of 15 minutes here and an hour there.

That pretty pink, blue and white baby afghan that Emmy is snuggled under is the one that Barb made for Emmy and sent me a while back. I use it every day for her, Barb. Thanks again, sweet friend. :-)

Just about the time I'd think I could get to something Emmy would start fussing and waking up. I did manage to get a load of laundry washed, dried and put away and get supper cooked this evening. To be honest, though, Jessica had already left with Emmy and Cecil had already gone home before I got around to cooking supper.

Supper on Tuesday night consisted of boxed white cheddar macaroni and cheese, Glory brand canned mixed greens and fried pork chops. I'm still not quite adjusted to having Emmy every day but it is getting better. I just didn't feel like cooking a big meal from scratch and as Sister and BooMama say, I'm just plumb knocked tonight.
Some of you might remember that I've had some ISSUES, shall we say, with my new all in one printer. Well, after doing all I knew to do to the dumb thing to try to get it to print on the good glossy photo paper, I sent Lexmark an email and also went to their website and did a live chat session with one of their representatives to try to troubleshoot the problem and attempt to fix it. I spent well over an hour chatting back and forth with their dense representative, and getting kicked off their chat program about a half dozen times, by the way, only to have the representative tell me I needed to buy a new model printer. I just bought this one in February!

I am not happy at all with the quality of service I've gotten from Lexmark during my quest to get this blasted printer to print glossy photos! It will print anything on any paper except the glossy photo paper. I'm thinking I'm going to hie myself to my local Walmart(s) and buy me another 6 foot USB cord and hook up my old Hewlett Packard printer just for photos. I can get another USB cord for around $10 and that sure beats another $50 or more for another printer. I was really satisfied with another Lexmark printer that I had and thought I was making a sound financial decision when I bought this newer all in one printer, but now I don't think I'll ever buy another Lexmark product. Their poor customer service just put the cherry on top of the rotten cake.

I know you can get a lemon and bad customer service with any brand, and with any company it's strictly "buyer beware". I'd just like the product to actually do what it's advertised to do. Is that too much to ask?
I've not had much opportunity to indulge my NightOwlism since I started keeping Emmy. Jessica calls me every morning when she leaves her apartment for the 5 minute drive to bring Emmy here for the day. It's usually about 6:15 am when she calls. Sometimes I get lucky and Emmy sleeps for a few more hours after Jessica drops her off so I can doze in my recliner until Emmy starts fussing. It's usually around 5:30 pm when Jessica picks Emmy up. It makes for a tiring day and I've been going to bed around 11 pm most nights. That's highly unusual for little ol' NIGHTOWL me.I've already had my shower and I'm ready to relax a bit and then it's bed for me. It's after 11 pm now.

Y'all have a wonderful Wednesday now, y'hear?

Sorry to hear about the printer !! I know what it is like dealing with "help" lines , I think they have the same criteria for the job for all companies , DONT GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT!!!LOL
sending buckets full of love and crates full of BSH for you and Emmy .

Emmy's first photo looks incredibly like Lamar! What a sweet baby you have to smooch on all day! Sounds like you're getting back into the swing of the baby thing.

she is just a doll. The picture of her sleeping under that blanket just makes me want to kiss her little cheeks for days.

Pictures like that make me want another baby to hold and cuddle (I've already got 3, and hubby would faint if I even mentioned having another - considering #3 just got completely potty trained in the past few weeks!) This is the first time in 6 years that I don't have to go buy diapers! woohoo!!

You need a relaxing image - go check out my Wordless Wednesday picture and put your self in it!

Those photos are adorable!!! Still, no matter how sweet, a baby in the house does interupt one's schedule!!! I'm not sure I would handle this change as well as you are.

The fact that you can still think....is amazing! I remember caring for our babies....by rote....without having a clear thought the entire day! Sleep deprivation maybe!

But looking at that sweet little face....and smile....well, that makes it all bareable!!! Enjoy!

Diane

She's so cute, and I'm seeing some family resemblance here. I truly can see you in something about her expression. Adorable!!
I know you remember from your days with Jessica as a baby that this time flies by all too quickly. It can be exhausting while it lasts.
Good for you for blasting Lexmark on your blog. I think they deserve some bad publicity after all that!

She looks so precious tucked in with her beautiful afghan. I know what you mean Diane. I remember those days well. You are doing such a wonderful thing for Jessica.
I'm sorry about the printer. I begin to wonder if customer service anywhere is good. It seems once you've bought the product they couldn't care less about you.
Get a good rest!!

Printer problems are the worst! I went through three Epson printers in two years and finally just threw the third one away. They had to replace the original one twice and when the same type problems kept occurring, I decided no more of that brand. I've been really happy with my HP that I got within this past year.

I don't know how long a printer is supposed to last but my Lexmark bit the dust at about 1-1/2 years and we'd had problems before that.

I now have an HP. So far, so good and the cartridges are less expensive.

I'll give you three guesses which photo is my favorite. :-) Melts my heart to see her covered with the afghan I made. Sigh.

I'll never understand companies that allow terrible customer service like that. The very idea that their answer was for you to buy a newer version is disgusting. Good for you. I'd never buy their products again either.

I was pretty sure your night owl habits were going to change. I get up at 5:30 on the days I have Cameron. You can bet I'm sound asleep by 10 o'clock that night. No staying up all night after a full day with a little one.

She's so precious and she definitely looks like Jessica who looks like you. It's the nose. She has your nose.

I don't know how you do this, five days a week. I'm sure I'll have Krissy's new baby five days a week too and I'm already gearing myself up for that even though it won't start until next spring! LOL

too sweet!!! You inspired my post today...Couldn't let Emmy be the only super-cute baby on the web! By the way, the sleeping in fits and starts can be yet another reflux thing...nuff said. :-)
Mac n Cheese is a staple in this house. My guys prefer it to most things. (Although they will eat almost anything). Their new fav (thanks to Mimi) is peanut butter sandwiches with bananas and syrup on it. So far as I know she didn't fry it, but Sonshine can't wait to get over to Mimi's this Sat for another one!! :-)

Oh Diane it is just amazing how her little personality is coming out. I know your routine has changed but I know you love the time with Miss Emme too.

Isn’t customer NO-service frustrating? Actually, I have an Epson and it has given me problems too since I got it several months ago. First time I have ever had a problem with a printer.

Have a blessed week my friend.

Love and Hugs, Lyndy

Just look at that adorable little face! I can't believe how much she looks like Jessica!!! I can just imagine how tired you are by the time the evening comes around...we tend to forget how time consuming and exhausting taking care of a little baby is! Jessica must be so relieved, though, that Emmy is with you!! What a shame you couldn't get good customer service at Lexmark...phooey on them!!! xoxo

My goodness that baby is precious!I'm glad you share her with us, because my children assure me I have all the grandchildren I'm going to be having!:-)

My 4 in 1 is really 3 in 1 because the scanner is the pits. It's not the same brand as yours, but I don't like it! It does print and fax OK, but forget the scanning!

Mr. L bought a separate scanner--Probably because he was tired of me whining about it! It's a Canon and I love it!

I swan your Emmy is one of the cutest babies I've ever seen! I can smell baby powder from here! And pork chops... I smell pork chops! I need you to tell me how to cook them. I've tried everything and mine still come out tougher than whang. LOL

Nothing like an HP if you ask me. ;o)

OK, that Emmy is simply adorable! I love her expressions...
but oh, yes...babies can kind of make you tired sometimes!

My youngest baby is now five, but I may be watching my future nephew (to be born this month!) this coming fall two days a week...and that will be both fun and tiring, I'm sure!

I think it's great that you're watching Emmy for Jessica. I know it's tiring, but I also know first hand how much we mom's appreciate the grandma's helping us out with the kiddoes. It's immeasurable. She's a little sweetie!!

Babies take a lot of work, but they SURE are fun!!!
She is such a cutie!

We've gotten a lot of rain this week. I really love it when thunderstorms come. Well, I only enjoy them if my whole family is home at the time, if not, I worry about my kids driving in the storms.
It's raining as I type this.

I'm lucky that all three of the others in my family are computer and tech geeks. If I have any troubles with my laptop or the printer, they fix it. I am computer challanged. :-)

Have a non-hitonious weekend.

I realize working out child care can be a huge problem, but somebody's doing something right here. That kid just radiates complete happiness, except maybe when she needs a meal, or a change.

Oh well, you know what I mean, And have you checked lately to see if your nose is where it normally is. I think she took it. Her's looks just like yours. LOL.
