I'm afraid my menu for this Sunday Dinner is going to be a great disappointment to those of you who visit here looking for Southern home cooking.
We had a fellowship and singing at church Saturday evening, so I cooked for that on Saturday afternoon. I made a double batch of homemade chili and cornbread for the fellowship and brought about half of the chili home with me. I gave all the cornbread away because I don't like cold or reheated cornbread. If I'd brought it home it would have gone in the freezer for chicken and dressing at a later date. The chili will probably go in the freezer, too.
Since I cooked Saturday, I've already told the sisters that I'd rather go out and eat for Sunday Dinner this week. I have no idea where, I just know I'm glad I don't have to try to come up with something that either can go in the crockpot, reheats well or is quick to prepare after I get home from church Sunday afternoon. According to who's here, I also have to try to plan around everybody's likes and dislikes, and that can get old.
So, for this Sunday Dinner, I'm going someplace where somebody else cooks and cleans up and waits on me for a change.
So, what're your plans for Sunday Dinner this week? What's on the menu at your house? Or are you going out to eat? Where, and what do you plan to order? Going to Mom's or Grandma's house? What're they serving?
Give a holler in the comments, y'all, and share your plans.
May God meet all your needs, and may He bless you with enough to share.

You go girl and have a wonderful time out for dinner. Get something yummy.
Take care,
Connie
Enjoy your meal today. The chili and cornbread sounds great! Too cold to get out here. Not sure what'll I'll fix later.
Hi Diane,
Your chili and cornbread sounds good. Not sure what dinner will be tonight,
Grandpa is not having a real good day and we're not able to plan too far ahead..
((hugs))
Oh your chili and cornbread do sound very good today. We have been invited to my SIL's for supper tonight and a superbowl party. I am thinking I might make a layered salad to bring. And I have the ingredients on hand too. Soooo yummy! How did your snow creme turn out? We made that as kids too. Have a lovely Sunday dining out Diane and stay warm! xxxoookr
Hope you had a good time
Girl, you go on and enjoy being cooked and cleaned for. I don't blame you one bit!
If anyone deserves dinner out it is you Diane. I hope you have something absolutley delicious.
We're making a departure from the usual steak and potatoes and salad. I'm making beef stew, salad and bread and butter. Then we'll just eat junk while we watch the Superbowl!!
Diane, thank you so much for your sweet, encouraging comment the other day. You have a way of making everything seem just a little brighter. You have a gift for warmth and encouragement. Thank you so much.
Have a good dinner out and enjoy the day. Go Colts!!!
I cooked all afternoon and I'm tard!!
First off, I made my peanut butter/brownie cupcakes...then I made beef fried rice and a salad with is Super Bowl tradition...now the beef fried rice has done made me thirsty...man I'm dry as a bone!!
:-D
PS...you deserve a day off!!!
I'm glad you got to go out! Today we ate at the church. We had missionaries here from Guatemala, a really sweet young family. I usually get to eat out with the pastor and the missionaries, but this time the meal was already planned at the church for all the new people who've come over the last 3 months. It was delicious and we had good fellowship.
So now I'm getting ready to NOT watch the Superbowl. We still have church tonight, so DC always goes to church around halftime.
Hurrah for you to go out for a change! Youre the cookinest woman I know. We had shrimp and cocktail sauce, hot wings, 2x baked potatoes and cole slaw. Husband thinks its the perfect football watching meal. SlimABears for dessert. Eaten in front of a roaring fire watching football, cant be beat. xoxox
Well it's about time you go out for dinner and have someone take care of YOU instead of always the other way around!! I made meatballs in gravy, mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. For dessert we had a Black Forest Cake...I cheated, I bought it! lol Congrats again in winning my Valentine Giveaway!! Hugs xoxo
We had chili. LOL Same thing you cooked yesterday. And we'll be having it for a few days - I made a big pot.
Glad you get to go out. A day out of the kitchen is always such a trip.
Here's to a new week and I hope yours is a great one!
I made two huge kettles of Chicken vegetable soup today. Most is in the freezer in serving size containers. I had some for lunch with a few slices of some kind of sourdough peasant bread that a grandson brought me yesterday. The bread is yummy and the hot soup was perfect for this dark, rainy day.
Blessings to you Diane
Hey Diane,
Better late than never.
My friend smoked ribs today and shared one with me plus grilled chicken. It was awesome. For the super bowl party I had, it was pizza, chicken wings from wing stop, and homemade sopapilla cake. All I ate was chicken and sald because I have to go to my nutricionist and get weighed tomorrow!
Have a great day.
Sunday we had something for dinner, which was inspired from our visit to the Garden Center on Saturday.
It's on my blog, so if you are unable to resist that innocent tempation you are free to look.
Anna made far too much for one dinner, so the rest is in the freezer. Easy to heat up.
And that eternal question: Who eats this and who hates that, and who eats such and such menu. Yeah, you can have grey hair of less.
Wish you a rich week.
Hope your dinner out was yummy. Sunday night, we just had something simple (it was a very hot day, too hot to cook !!).
Hope you are keeping warm, and the snow isn't too heavy.
Take care, Meow
I'm standing on a football field with
all the geese. come see!
Nice to be a guest for a change!
Once again, I'm late. Hope you enjoyed your dinner and being waited on. I remember going to Shoney's for their strawberry pie after Sunday night church.
Friday, I cooked a beef pot roast with lots of veggies and mashed potatoes. Saturday was pizza. Sunday I made a 3 layered casserole ouf of the leftover mashed potatoes, roast, and gravy (shepherd's pie?) and made two no-bake cheesecakes.
I've been watching the terrible weather around the country but didn't see AR. Hope you're all doing okay.
Diane, your dinning out sounds good to me......Can I tell you a little secret.
I have never eaten corn bread before and would love to! you often see it in shows from your lovely country but I have never known how you use it or how to make it so for us Aussies who are like me would you consider telling us a little more about it and you never know it may just be what I would simply MUST! have for Sunday lunch down here.
Have a lovely week and thank you for taking a moment to visit my blog and your kind words about our drought. Lee-ann
It's after the fact now for Sunday dinner, but we ate lunch out, then dinner in with pork chops, a veggie & noodle dish and green salad. Pat is a good cook so it was all a lot better than I would have had on my own.
Ditto here. We treated ourselves to Red Robin this week.
Glad you got a break from cooking for a change. ;-)
Diane we went to the park again and theres some photos of me this time :)
Sunday dinner: Musaka (a Greek dish) made by my American wife - a lovely combination for a Norwegian you know:-)
We had a potluck at church. I brought spaghetti and Seven Layer Bars and ate WAY TO MUCH! Then went to a Super Bowl Party and I am going to post some pictures of the desserts. Chili always sounds good to me. ☺
How ya doing? Are you having trouble with Demon Blogger again? I can always tell, because you usually visit every day.
Thanks for returning the comment so quickly. You know, we read everything and saw things, but he was so good at hiding from us! Unbelievable. We are so proud of him.
Hi Diane!
I haven't been around in a while so I thought I would pop in and say "Hello!"
Have a Great evening, Diane!
:-)
