Let's Give This Baby A Test Run ! !

Okay, I made the switch to Beta Blogger with little or no apparent problem. However, when I visited all my bloggy friends just now every time I tried to comment, I got an error page from blogger. So, just know that I DID read your witty, touching, thankful posts, but Demon Blogger wouldn't let me comment on your blog. Maybe Blogger will get itself together and let me comment later.

Now to try to load a picture....Okay, that went well. Pictures seem to load quite a bit faster, I will say. I hope it's an indicator of things to come. The little triangle within the wheel still grinds away, but not nearly as long as it took on the old Blogger. One can only hope that the new Blogger works better with less downtime than the old Blogger.

Now let's try a GIF image.....Okay, the first GIF I tried to load
wouldn't work, so let's try another....Now that one worked fine, so maybe the first one was just a bad image.

This version of Blogger does publish very FAST!! It publishes almost instantly. Yea, verily, it does!

Now to try a regular photograph.....Well, that took a little longer, but it was still faster than the old Blogger. I don't know if it has anything to do with the problem of posting comments today, but this version of Blogger is running very jerky and hesitant. It takes a while for the type to catch up with what I'm typing. Okay, that's about as clear as mud. What I mean is, it's taking a while for the words to appear in the text window after I type them. There's a lag between the time I type this and when it actually appears on the page. Could be Blogger, but it could just as easily be my computer. Who knows?

***Update on the lagtime: I saved this as a draft and shut down my computer, then restarted it. It seems to be working fine now without any hesitation, so I'm assuming it was my computer that was the problem.***

I tried to make a list using the tool on the controls here, but I'm about ready to pull out my hair tying to get it to work right, so I gave up on that.

I'll have to use this version for a while to discover all it's quirks and peccadilloes. So far, so good, but only time will tell the real story.

And it does that have that FREE thing still going for it.

The bottom line is, some people have reported no trouble at all with converting to Beta Blogger, but a few have mentioned some problems. It's totally up to the individual for the time being if and when you make the switch to Beta. My concern was possibly being forced to switch sometime in the future. I believe I've mentioned that I tend to be a control freak. I chose to go ahead and switch now so I was in control and I was curious enough about the promised New & Improved Blogger to take the chance.

It's nearly 3 pm and I still need to figure out what's for supper tonight. I also told one of my dear friends that I would make something to take to our Women's Missionary Union meeting tonight at church, so I need to fix extra of whatever I cook. Hmmm...as of this moment, I have no idea what I'm going to cook. I hope to get suddenly inspired when I post this and go look in my freezer and pantry. I can hope, anyway.

I'll be cooking most of the day on Wednesday and Thursday, and visiting with my family for Thanksgiving Dinner and afternoon. I'll probably post again between now and Thanksgiving day.

I hope you all have a blessed week with much to be thankful for. Love to all....

Hi Diane...you're so much braver than I am! lol Apparently to comment, you'll have to comment as "anonymous" for a while...don't know why that is but that's the way to do it for now:-) Take care my friend!! xoxo

You are brave!! I don't know when I'll get around to listening to their hints that I should change. I don't do well with change! And I don't even try the fancy stuff.

Diane, I sure appreciate your frank open and honest reaction to switching to Beta Blogger. I just switch to Beta with an account I have with an online co., and immediately experienced that lag time with my letters showing up after I had typed them. I have wondered if they still let you paste html's in your sidebar or if that is different. I will switch after Thankgiving I think! lol
Enjoy your family and have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Your recipes have been a joy to receive.

You're a brave soul Diane. I'm still too scared to try it. Maybe in time. I do notice that your sidebar info isn't showing up right now. Is that on purpose or a glitch?

It takes a brave soul to lead the way into the unknown!! You are so much more computer savy than I am though Diane. What exactly did it involve? I can't begin to tell you the trouble I've had just changing i.s.ps. In fact - I now have another new e-mail address because that sweet little girl who set up my account (whom I couldn't understand because of her accent) apparently couldn't understand me either. She totally messed up my account so that I couldn't even get into it myself!! My new address (because my old one is taken by me - who cannot have that account any more - HUH??!!) is lindachontos@juno.com.
I know this makes no sense, but it is the reason I'm scared to death to change anything!!
Have a good one!

You are braver than I am. I will probably stay with the old program until they force me to change, then will probably go to a WordPress based blog.

So you took the plunge with Beta blogger! I haven't done it yet as I figured it might take up more of my time to try and figure things out so I'll wait until things are not so rushed.

Have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving Diane!!

Welcome to the dark side, Di. Mwuh-hahha!

It seems like you made a pretty good transition with Beta. To date, I haven't heard any bad stories; my experience included. Then again, the dark side does have a way of alluring people...

Well, Diane, I love this blow by blow description of working in beta. I swear, I think this may be the weekend I do it. It's worth it just to make their stupid "you need to switch" messages go away.

Today's the big turkey day here and here I sit, reading posts. LOL

This surely isn't getting that big old turkey into the oven so I guess I should get my rear end in gear. I tell you, I'm so giddy that Rob went back to work today, I can't seem to get upset about anything at all right now, including whether or not dinner gets on the table at the exact right minute.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, too. You are one of the people I'm most thankful for today, my friend. xoxoxo
