I'm beginning to feel like a fraud, calling this my Sunday Dinner post when so many times lately I haven't cooked. And once again, I won't be cooking this week.
My pastor's daughter is getting married in June and our church hosted a wedding shower for them on Saturday night, so I made a huge batch of HOMEMADE PIMENTO CHEESE sandwiches to take to the shower. Since I ate at the shower, I didn't cook supper and Lamar ate sandwiches for his supper.
It was nearly 8:30 pm when I got home and I'm not about to cook this late so there ya go; no Sunday Dinner again this week.
We've been busy a lot on Saturdays and Sundays lately so it's been a while since I actually cooked Sunday Dinner, and I have no idea from week to week if I'll be cooking or not. Many times I've cooked a meal and still ended up going out to eat Sunday Dinner due to the general consensus of all involved.
What are you doing for Sunday Dinner this week? Share your plans/menu in the comments if you'd like.
I so enjoy hearing what everyone else is cooking or where you're eating out, and many of you leave comments here and on Facebook telling me how much you also enjoy this weekly event.Lamar will be leaving Sunday night for Fort Worth, Texas to visit his brother for the next week, so I'll be trying to get some things done around the apartment that are better done without a man underfoot.
I don't have a firm to-do list, just some vague plans so if I don't actually get anything done I'll have nothing to feel guilty about. Works for me. ;o)SARAH, you'll be happy to know that I finally threaded my new sewing machine and hemmed some jeans for a friend, and I also hemmed some pants and did some minor mending on some of my own clothes.
I bought a new $400 Brother*portable sewing machine over a year ago and it's kind of irked Sarah that I haven't tried out my new machine. I got the machine for less than half price because it was a close out. There's no way I could find $400 for a sewing machine in my budget so I was thrilled to find such a good deal on this one.
I have to say though that I still prefer my old worn out Singer*Golden*Touch*N*Sew, even if it is 60 years old and the bobbin has an annoying habit of randomly popping out of the case in the middle of sewing, breaking the sewing needle and snarling the bobbin thread.
My old machine is heavier and more suited to sewing heavy denim, and I like that it's in a sewing machine cabinet. On the other hand, I hate having to pull my dining table out to get to my old sewing machine.
However, I like the convenience of the new portable machine and it has a lot more stitch options. Each machine has its pros and cons, and I'll just have to get used to the new machine because the old one is on its last leg, figuratively speaking.JESSICA and I took several pictures last Sunday on Mother's Day and I'll share a few of those. It's getting late and I still need to get this post up and study my church lessons before bedtime, so I'll stop rambling now.
Hope y'all have a wonderful Lord's Day. May God meet all your needs and may you have enough to share, dear family and friends.

Ohhhh, I wish I had your Golden Touch and Sew machine. I got one for my 11th birthday and man I loved that machine. I had it until I lost it in a house fire. Nothing since has sewed as well, my Athena came close though. Do you still have all the cams? And Singer doesn't do those touch and sew bobbins any longer, unless you go up to the reallllllly expensive machines, that was the best feature!
Well, tomorrow IS Sunday, and most of us (thank the Lord) WILL have dinner, so I'd say your title is spot on!
Not sure what our plans are yet either. I'm okay to go with the flow and see where we end up. Could be home with hammy sammys. I'm mostly concerned with getting in my Sunday nap, frankly. I'm not so picky about anything else.
Have a blessed week, friend. Much love!!
I read your blog every week but don't often comment. I just had to tell you though that today the county I live in had it's Pimento Festival. People enter pimento cheese spread and the winner is crowned the "Pimento Queen" (or King, I guess). I bet you would be the Pimento Queen if you lived here!
No idea on what we are having for Sunday dinner as I have to work tomorrow afternoon. I always enjoy reading about your meal plans!
Don't apologize for not cooking Sunday dinner, Diane. Enjoy the break from the routine. We know you are not a fraud since all we have to do is check out your vast stash of recipes to see that you are one great little cook. Dinner at our house tomorrow? Hmmmm, maybe ribs and potato salad. I had younger son and grands overnight lastnight, and fixed one of Karli's favorites, Taco Casserole. I need to fix a meal the first part of the week for a friend who is recovering from hip replacement...probably a chicken and rice casserole that has french cut green beans in it. A really tasty dish. Glad you posted and that all is well. Blessings.....v from Id.
Wonderful Mother's Day pics!
Have a great sunday. :)
Well Diane, I have a Creative Touch machine from singer...It has the cams but I use them very seldom... To tell you the truth, I don't do much sewing these days.. The kids are all on their own and my time is spent with a lot of church work...I do love my Singer machine though.
I'm not sure what I am going to do about Sunday dinner today. I need to go rummage through the freezer and take something out...I can't wait for the tomatoes in my garden to be ready for harvest.... They are doing so good this year and I want to can them this summer...We also have green beans growing and some climbing spinach....
Well, whatever you eat, I hope it's good.,,,Have a great week!
I wish I could sew!! I so envy people who can produce clothes that fit and do repairs and things!!
We are going our today down to the French River, not that you know where that is but it's very pretty place and the weather is good for a change. No cooking for me today but we will get dinner out somewhere!
What are pimentos?
No cooking for me today...it's our "Grillin' on the Grounds" at church today. Only one service at 11 and no Sunday school. Not sure if I'll be participating or not - it'll depend on the humidity and my asthma as the two of them don't get along very well ;)
Kimberly and I had talked of going to Chili's for dinner tonight, so we'll see...
I don't sew. Period. My mother was an excellent seamstress before her arthritis and macular degeneration put an end to her sewing days. I always told her she got my portion of talent as well because I have NONE in that area. My Sweet Hubby was always the one to sew buttons back on in this house as I couldn't even get a button to stay. Pitiful, I know. Hey all you sewers out there - no snickering or eye rolling!
Have a blessed week Diane! Praying for travel mercies as Lamar travels to and fro!
I plan to make spaghetti with meat sauce for dinner today. I will add brocolli and Italian bread to round it out. My husband has been away on his boat for over a week and should be home in time for dinner. I used to sew a lot when my daughter was little. I made some of her dresses and even dresses for me. Now that I have psoriatic arthritis in my hands it is hard to sew. It was never one of my favorite things anyway. Diane, I love those pictures of you and your girls. Very photogenic! Have a beautiful Sunday.
I sewed almost everything Kristen wore as a kid, and some of Kev's. Now I can't see to thread the needle! Really sad. There was so much creativity in my life back in the day. No more.
We went out to Wendy's for a salad today - had Feisty's b-day party here at 2, so it's been a busy day. It's nice outside for a change.
safe travels to Lamar
and great photos of you and your girls :)
Diane: Sounds like you've been busy! The pictures of you, Jessica and Emmy are beautiful and I was so glad to get to see them.
I wanted to tell you that for Mother's Day, my youngest son made your Pimento Cheese Spread for me! Yes, he did!! However, we ate it as a dip with chips and it's the BEST stuff!!! Oh, my. I was a little piggy. LOL I had tried for years to make a Pimento Cheese dip that we would all like and yours is the first that was SO good!! So, thank you, Miss Diane, for sharing this wonderful recipe!
Have a wonderful week and I hope you get a lot done while hubby is away. :)
God bless you - Julie
I'm sure the poor thing is much happier with thread in him!!
Jessica's lost weight! looks nice.
Hi Diane. It's been a while but I'm back all bright eyed and bushy tailed! LOL
I don't have the slightest idea what I had for sunday dinner. Probably soup from the freezer.
Your Mother's Day pictures are beautiful. I especially like the three generation shot. Emmy's dress is just gorgeous and sure suits her.
Things seem to be calming down around here and I pray it stays that way.
God bless you and yours,
Hugs
I got a new sewing machine earlier in the year and at first I didn't care much for it. I have to say now that I have been using it on a regular basis...I love it.
I now have a Viking Emerald 203. I used to have a Singer.
Your photos are wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Nice pictures! We have been doing some traveling so not at home very much but we did get back in time for Mother's Day. I thought Pat might want to eat at home after meals out for over a week but she decided she'd like dinner at Johnny Cerino's, an Italian place. We had already signed up for lunch inside Skagit Gardens at the Garden Cafe. Last Sunday we did eat at home and she cooked a wonderful beef roast. I don't know yet what this Sunday will bring but maybe I'll know by the time you post your note this week.
wish you lived nearer- I would be over with mending...
Great pictures Diane XX
