Sunday Dinner, December 20, 2009

Thanks to my sister Cecil, Sunday Dinner is pretty much in the bag for this week. One of her work mates was selling smoked Boston butt pork roasts for her church and Cecil bought 2 of them. I don't think there's any danger of anybody going hungry this Sunday Dinner.

When we get home from church Sunday afternoon I'll thinly slice some of the meat and put it into the oven to reheat. While the meat is reheating we'll set the table with the buns, cole slaw and barbecue sauce we'll use to assemble our pork barbecue sandwiches.

Now I love to cook more than most people, but the last few weeks have been a little hectic so I appreciate the opportunity to have most of the work done for me for this week's Sunday Dinner. I went to Cecil's Christmas party Friday night and attended a beautiful Christmas themed wedding Saturday afternoon, then cooked supper for me and Lamar Saturday night, so an easy Sunday Dinner is more than welcome.

What's for Sunday Dinner at your place this week? Probably lots of family get-togethers and Christmas themed outings, and we'd all love to hear about them if you'd like to share your plans in the comments.

I have some pictures from various parties and events over the last week or so that I want to share but don't have time to add them to this post, so I'll have to do it later. Jessica is bringing Emmy over in just little bit to sleep over with Grammaw and Papaw and I need to get this posted.

Jessica's spending some time tonight with her cousin and some other girlfriends and I want to give her this time for herself. She'll pick up Emmy Sunday morning before I leave for church, go to church with Lamar's Mom, her Granny, and then probably come back here to eat barbecue sandwiches with the rest of us.

Merry Christmas, dear family and friends! May God bless you above and beyond your needs, and may you have enough to share is my dearest prayer for each of you.

I'm so glad you'll get a bit of a break from cooking. Isn't that a treat? I love having something easy once in a while. :) I'm glad you're feeling better, my friend. It's hard when there's so much going on and then being sick on top of it. You've been in my prayers and thoughts!! (((HUGS)))

Have a wonderful, peaceful and blessed Sunday!! Enjoy your day and relax.

Much love - Julie

What a wonderful weekend it sounds like you've had! Enjoy your BBQ sandwiches - I love 'em!!

I made a "light" version of a Farfalle Carbonara yesterday with plenty of leftovers, so I'll be having that for the next few days...

Diane, I wish you and yours the holiest and the happiest of Christmases...your friendship has truly been a gift and a blessing this past year and I thank God for it..and for you.

Our family/friend Christmas party is this evening. Around 20 people. We'll be having Mexican food: A old family tradition recipe called Spanish Casserole, tamales, sp. rice, green chile, and tostadas. I've made a big batch of caramel corn, a couple of cheese balls made with some venison summer sausage, and a yummy creamy jello dessert. And whatever else everyone is bringing. I don't think we'll be starving either!
Then we'll play the famous Christmas gift game which always is lots of fun, especially when the one older person gets the wrapped pregnancy test or something crazy like that.
My heart is overflowing with thankfulness to be back here close to our families. God is so good to us!
Merry Christmas to you and Lamar. I appreciate your friendship and really do think about you guys!

WEnt went for fast food again today - I have the 4 girls every Saturday night and take them to church with us. So they were with us again for a hassled lunch with those little almost twos!

I haven't had time to grocery shop, so that's why the junk food again - but I have gotten to where I really don't like fixing Sunday dinner.

Diane, your BBQ sandwiches sound great...Yes, it is nice to have someone else do most of the work sometimes... Take it easy and don't over due...

I think I will be making some homemade chicken pot pie for dinner..Still don't know.

It is nice to give our kids some time to themselves... I sometimes watch my grandkids to Jen and Justin can have some time alone...

Hope you, Lamar, Jessica and Miss Emily (as well as the rest of your family) have a great Christmas...

I'm glad you are getting a nice break from kitchen duty. You have had a lot going on and need some time off!
Your sandwiches sound yummy but more than that, the special time spent with loved ones is sure to lift you.
I'm afraid my Sunday dinner is not impressive. Just a small TV dinner and green salad with orange/pineapple juice for a beverage.Since I don't have anyone to cook for, this sort of meal works for me.
I pray you and your family have a blessed Christmas Diane.
God Bless All!!!

Your food sounds great as usual Diane!

I went to a Mexican restaurant and had a chicken fajita, which was pretty good!

I went to a couple of luncheons this past week. Nothing really planned this week though.

Love,
Rachel
