It's nearly 2 am my time, so this is going to be a quick post for sure. Lamar, JESSICA, Jason, Emmy and I went to my father-in-law's 77th birthday party this evening and enjoyed pork barbecue sandwiches, Kentucky Fried Chicken and all the fixin's, plus hot dogs for the kids and followed by chocolate cake, carrot cake, chocolate ice cream and vanilla ice cream for dessert.
By the time we finished celebrating and got back here, it was nearly 8 pm and then Jessica did some deep cleaning for me, bless her heart. This was partly in return for my keeping Emmy for her and Jason, and partly because she's just sweet and she knew my living room and kitchen really needed a good cleaning.
Thanks, Babe! Mama loves you and really appreciates your help. :-)
Long story made longer, by the time Jessica, Jason and Emmy left here, it was nearly 11:30 pm, and I still had lots to do in preparation for Sunday Dinner, and I'm not done yet! I still have to study my Sunday School lesson, type up 2 sets of business minutes for my church and debone some chicken for Sunday Dinner as soon as I get this typed, proofread and posted.
Now, on to Sunday Dinner, and I am cooking this week, for the first time in several weeks. I say several because I'm not sure exactly how long it's been and I'm too tired to look back over my blog and figure it out.
My menu this week consists of homemade chicken and rice, fresh garden green beans cooked with bacon and potatoes and fresh garden purple hull peas. I have some canned corn so I may heat up some of that, and that's the crop as far as I know right now.
What's on tap for your Sunday Dinner? Share your plans in the comments if you'd like to participate this week.
And that concludes this Sunday Dinner post. I'll try to get a post done early next week and update y'all with all the exciting happenings around my place. Ha! Nothing much exciting going on here, and that's just the way I like it, especially if it's the wrong kind of excitement.
Y'all have a fantabulous Sunday. May God richly bless you with all you need and enough to share.

WOW...I'm first ...hmm or at least I think!
Your very welcome...thanks for keeping Em and all that jazz.
Won't see you probably tomorrow but will Monday.
Love You,
Jessica...
PS
It's been a while since you have posted a pic of your adorable grandkiddo.....I think your overdue! LOL
Yep, I was first!
You were first because it's 2:30 am and all the SMART people are asleep, as they should be! lol ;o)
xoxoxo
Um, excuse me, not ALL smart people are abed right now. Harrumph!!
I have no idea what we'll be having for Sunday dinner. Richard had some nasty dental work done on Friday and is still recovering, so we'll have to see what he's up to chewing tomorrow.
Have a lovely Sunday, Miz D! :)
xxoo
We're going to the second of my family reunions, so I don't know what all I'll be having for Sunday dinner. I'm taking potato salad and cucumber curls. I'll bet nobody hangs around the park long after dinner, because it's going to be HOT!
I think successfully potty training Emmy is newsworthy!!
I can't believe you posted after all of that - but glad you did. Today I'm going to put a large pork tenderloin in the oven on really low heat when we go to church, then DC will finish it off on the grill for a bit of extra flavor. It's too big for just us and Kristen, so I really should invite my folks over or somebody!
Dinner sounds delicious Diane. After such a long saturday, I hope you get a good, long nap in today.
I didn't cook this week.... We ended up ordering pizza.... I fell down last Friday and hurt my wrist so I am taking it easy for a while... It is doing much better and I am grateful that I did not break it....
You are a busy lady, Diane.... Potty training can take a lot out of a busy Grandma.... I know that you did the brunt of the training, since Jessica works, so you deserve most of the praise.....And of course, Miss Emily deserves some of that praise too..... You are such a good mother and grandmother.... Have a great week.
hmmm.
well my sunday dinner took place at 0300 Monday morning...does that still count??
(it was pot roast, peas and squashed taters.)
I ate at Quizno's for my Sunday dinner. Sub sandwich, chips, tea, and a cookie later. All good too!
You sound like me waiting so late to get your church stuff ready. I've been trying to do better and get it done earlier in the week instead of waiting until the Saturday before. I like it so much better when I do it then instead of waiting until the last minute.
You have been so busy with Miss Emmy!!
The birthday bash sounds like lots of fun with good eats!! Can't beat KFC!!
lol! You are a busy lady, Diane! Prayers continue to flow your way and especially for Lamar's health! :)
I hope you're able to prop your feet up and just rest and recover after your Sunday dinner - you're been soooo busy lately!!
I was in Richmond (VA) this weekend visiting Matthew. I took my grandsons along and we ate our Sunday dinner at Buzz and Ned's BBQ. It was really good! If you watch Food Network, Buzz had a "throwdown" with Bobby Flay...
I hope you have a wonderful week and lots of fun with Princess Emmy!
We went for a drive Sunday and ended up at my son's place. From there we headed into downtown Arlington for lunch but the place we were going is closed on Sundays! So, we went to an Italian place instead. This was a late lunch so we had a late dinner at home. Pat usually doesn't fix prepared food but we had a noodle thing from a box along with some really great bi-color corn. And of course our regular glass of wine.
A belated happy birthday to Lamar's dad. Boy, you guys had a birthday feast!
Your green beans made my mouth water. I can't remember the last time I had garden fresh green beans made with bacon and new potatoes. I have a feeling I need to make it a point to hit the local produce stands.
As you know, my whole garden consists of two tomato plants. LOL
I hope you have a really nice new week and congratulations on the mansion. Good grief, it's gorgeous! It's so gorgeous, I may buy two of them. Yeah right. :-)
xoxo
Barb
Thank you, Diane, thank you. Look forward to sharing this week with you.
Blessings,
Amanda
You are one busy lady!
We rarely have a cooked meal on Sundays. I'm from England and you had to have the Sunday roast no matter what but I happily let go of all those things when I moved here in '74. We are generally outside or out somewhere on Sundays and have sandwiches or something..
That'll teach you from playing FarmTown so late and then having all that stuff to do yet! hehe Just teasing you:-) Congrats on getting the mansion, by the way!!!
I didn't have any dinner on Sunday because I was still full from the lunch mom and I had before we went to visit my aunt Delima. We had chicken fingers, mashed potatoes, peas and coleslaw:-)
Glad to hear that your FIL's birthday party went so well and the food sounded delish! Did the carrot cake have the cream cheese icing on it?? If so, I would have sat there and ate it all! lol xoxo
