Freezing Rain, May Be Offline For A While.....

Just a note to let my friends here know: We're getting some MAJOR freezing rain here tonight and through Wednesday morning. The weather geeks are predicting as much as 3 inches of ice accumulation and then up to 5 inches of snow on the backside of the storm on top of the ice.

We've already got a half inch of ice accumulated on the trees, power lines and everything else. Our power has been flickering off and on but so far it's come back on, praise the Lord. It's just a matter of time before it goes off for the duration.

We're all electric here so if our power goes off we don't have lights, heat or any way to cook. We've got our heat cranked up to about 85 to try to keep it as warm as possible in here for as long as possible. We've got enough easy prep food to last us for several days and I'm about to go make a pot of coffee to put in my Thermos jug so I'll have hot coffee for a while.

Just wanted to let y'all know what's going on here so that if I'm absent from the blogging, Twitter and Facebook scenes for a while you won't worry too much. Jessica is getting the same weather so it's possible we'll both be offline, and it may be several days or a week before we have power again, worst case scenario.

I need to get this posted before the power goes off for good, so I'll wish y'all a great week. And for those of you who are in the path of this ice storm, I'm praying for safety for all of us.

I'll be back as soon as possible. I just hope I don't twitch too bad because I can't feed my online addiction to know what's going on with all of my online friends here in Bloggityville, Facebook and Twitter.

Y'all be careful.

Wow! That's quite a storm! I did see that on the Weather Channel. I pray it won't be as bad as they are predicting.

We get an occasional ice storm here in SC every few years, and I recall one where we were without power for a couple of days. It got kind of cold in here!!! I do have my gas grill that I could cook...on if I had to. The thing that bothered me was losing all my frozen foods in the freezer, so my ex came and got all of that and stored it for me. I have no suggestions about your addiction to blogging, though. LOL I wish I had time to blog every day but just don't. My knee has been bad with bursitis, so I've been keeping it elevated with ice, plus on prednisone again! Can't win for trying, or so it seems.

Enjoy your inside time...cuddle up with Lamar and stay warm now!!! I'll check back to see what's going on there.

Love and Hugs!
Nancy

Sounds scary - thanks for keeping us posted.

I mostly love winter weather, but can see there is another side of the coin.

Ice is just the worst! Susan is having it in Oklahoma as well. I remember my folks being in the house for days down there in the OKC area a few years ago - scary stuff!

Same weather is going on here in Oklahoma; luckily, though, the weather changed over to kind of a sleet which has helped the road and travel situations. There's maybe a quarter inch of ice under all the other stuff and the weatherman says the worst is yet to come! The best part - a free day off work - as long as the power stays on, it's a great day!

That is a lot of ice and then to add snow on top! I can see why the power can easily go out with that much ice. Weather like that is another reason we keep our RV as it can be a place to go stay warm, eat, etc. if we do have an extended power outage. I really like having underground power feeds. But with that much ice the big lines that feed town could go down and then our underground won't help.

Our weather is finally today getting back to more our normal gray drizzle with temps between 37 at night and mid 40s in the daytime. But I sure am ready for summer. Or at least spring.

Some of that is headed our way here in PA, but not all ice. We're to get 4-8 inches of snow, starting today into this evening, then turning to sleet and freezing rain tomorrow morning. I'm hoping for a day off work! LOL

I hope you're doing okay!

Stay safe and warm, Diane. That's good you're prepared for the worse.
Those ice storms are treacherous.
God bless and ((Hugs))!

My goodness. We may get the same thing here. so far, the predicted snow has not started, but we could get dumped on. Be sure to let us know how it goes.

I see you have another Nancy. So I'll sign with my nickname.

Ya...don't you know Jason would be twitching horribly from not feeding his addiction if the power went out!

LOL

Glad we weathered the storm so far...I think I'm gonna go to work tomorrow night instead of tonight.

Love you, and hope dad feels lots better by now!

Hi Diane,

I was wondering if you got the ice last night. When I got up this morning there was ice on the trees and power lines, but it started melting when our temps got up to 35 degrees.

I did the "B" meme today. Just wanted to let you know.

Stay warm.

Diane, I hope that you're still with power, warm and all coffee'd up!!

Several years ago, when we got Hurricane Isabelle and were without power for a week, my Sweet Hubby and I provided our neighbors with coffee every morning as we were fortunate enough to have a generator...what a difference that made! We would have been one U-G-L-Y neighborhood without our caffeine!

Tuesday night, and we're still in good shape here, so far. Praying for all of you.

My prayers are with you and your family, dear Diane. Please stay safe!!! That ice storm seems to be hitting quite a few States. We've experienced a few ice storms here and I know how much devastation it can cause even though it looks so beautiful. xoxo

Hi Diane. Hope you still have electric. We missed out on the ice storm but parts north of us in KY are getting hit hard. Our phone was out today and the computer but it came back on late today. We got a little sleet then it warmed up and changed to rain and we are getting LOTS of that. Tomorrow (Wednesday) they say it will change to snow and we might get a couple of inches.

Keep safe and warm!!

There will be red cross shelters open if it get's too bad hon...hot meals, hot showers and warmth. HOpe Jess and family and Donna and all your kin stay safe in this mess. Will pray there are no deaths in this...supposed to swing up to Maine! You stay indoors and don't walk about and take pics or you might fall on your patoozie hon! I made that mistake last ice storm and fell several times while snappin' pics of the ice. Not pretty, hurt my wrist...Loveya Diane, Jen (may have to check out this twitter thang...looks like a buzz.

Diane,

I heard on the news that Arkansas, along with several other states, were getting an inch or so of ice. They had pictures and it looks like some parts have been hit pretty bad.

I hope your heat doesn't go off. It's difficult to have no way to stay warm and no way to cook. I hope you have lots of blankets on hand and many fleecy warm sweaters and clothing.

Praying for you and all those in the path of the storm. We have been getting snow for about 21 hours and we are to get freezing rain overnight. Not a good night for hubby to be out working.

Blessings,
Mary

We are totally encased in an inch or more of ice with a good 3 inches of snow on top.

They're saying around half a million are without power statewide. Ours is still on, so far. We are so blessed!

Just checking to see of you got your power back on yet....guess not! You poor thing...you must be deep into internet withdrawal! LOL I keep checking Jessica's blog to see if she has any new news on the situation there. I bet you're cold and hungry for warm food.

Just want you to know that I am thinking about you!!! Hope Lamar is feeling better by now, too!

Gosh the weather you describe sounds scary to me. Living in SO. CA. all of my life I have never experienced ice storms or much snow unless we drive up in the mountains.

I hope all of you are safe, and that your power is back on.

wishing you the best from SO. CA.

Hi, Diane! I guess you got hit pretty hard. I sure hope you are warm and safe!

We got a lot of ice, too. The boys only went to school on Monday, and my husband slid to work today after being off for 2 days. It did start to thaw today but still has a ways to go!

Our power has flickered lots but THANK THE GOOD LORD always came back on. We got caught without any wood cut.

Take care and stay warm. I'll be thinking of you...

Diane, I have been watching the news in regards to your huge ice storm....It looks like you are going to be without power for a couple of weeks....I sure hope it doesn't go that long for you...It is so cold outside and that will effect a lot of people. You know that we had that same problem with hurricane IKE but it was hot here, not freezing cold. I think I would rather take the heat than cold.

I put your name and Jessica's on the temple prayer roll, so a lot of people are praying for you right now. Please take care!
