Is It Friday Already??

My calendar informs me that it is indeed Friday, so I suppose it must be true.

I should tell y'all right up front that this is gonna be another of those rambling type posts of my jumbled up thoughts, in no particular order. So don't strip a gear searching for any kind of form or function in this heap of random gibberish. 'Cause there ain't none.Good news! I'm pleased to inform y'all of this most auspicious occasion: my new camera arrived Wednesday, and I'm delighted to impart the joyful news that it works! And I can operate it!

Yee haw! Oh, joy! That just makes me happy on so many levels that I can't even put it into words.

Thank You again, dear Anonymous Benefactor, whoever you may be. You've made this fat girl very happy. :o)

So far I haven't doused this one with homemade bubble juice and I'm going to strive to avoid all potentially camera-rurning (ruining) situations.

(No, the model I ordered is not the same as the one that's in the graphic, but it's another Ko*dak Easy*share similar to that one.)And to prove that my new camera does indeed work, here's a few pictures:

I just realized that the time stamp is activated.
I don't usually use it, and besides, the date's
wrong because these pictures were taken
yesterday, Thursday, July 1oth.

(Note to self: deactivate camera time stamp.)
Look at those eyelashes! It just ain't
right that we grown up ladies have to work
so hard to get that look and nature does
it so easily for Miss Emmy.I don't know what up with the Albert*Einstein
hair do Emmy's been sporting lately.
Her hair is so fine and flyaway that it's
nearly impossible to get it to lay down.
Add in some natural curl and girlfriend's
got her own thang goin' on.Miss Emmy is getting brown as a berry
from all the time she's been spending
in her wading pool, much to her
whiter-shade-of-pale Mama's disgust.
Emmy tans, Jessica burns and peels.
I made chicken stir fry for supper tonight, and as Lamar, Emmy and I were eating I realized that with the exception of the chicken and the rice I served with it, all the veggies were given to us from friend's and family's gardens. We are so blessed to have fresh garden stuff given to us. It's such a help with our food budget not only in the growing season, but also in the off season because I can, freeze and preserve what we don't eat fresh.Speaking of Emmy and eating, she's come a long way toward eating table food in the last couple of months. That little lady has an appetite! It won't be long before Jessica won't have to buy any baby food. For the most part Emmy would rather have table food anyway.

Within reason, she eats almost anything we do. She likes chicken, hamburgers, pork chops, steak, catfish and she loves my TEXAS HASH. I always put some back for her if she's not here when I make it, or keep the leftovers for her.

She also loves squash any way she can get it, sweet potatoes, French fries, green beans, ice cream, yogurt, dry cereal, oatmeal - and the list goes on and on.

We still have to cut or mash up some of her foods depending on what it is, but she can bite off and chew most things and is starting to feed herself. We give her things she can eat with her fingers but so far we haven't tried her with a spoon yet. I think that's still a little while into the future, but it won't be all that long before we'll experiment a little. Anybody got a tarp I can borrow? ;o)To Whom It May Concern: A blog reader contacted me by email to ask if I had a recipe for HOMEMADE TOMATO KETCHUP and I posted it on MY RECIPE BLOG if anybody else is interested in having the recipe. Click on the bold purple links to go to MY RECIPE BLOG or the recipe for MY HOMEMADE TOMATO KETCHUP.

It's been several years since I made it, but it's a good recipe if you'd like to attempt it. If you add the prepared horseradish it tastes a lot like Heinz*Ketchup, which is my personal favorite.I'm feeling a lot better most of the time now. I can usually tell when my sugar is up by the way I feel. In other words, when my sugar is way up or way down I feel like drek. So far it's been high a lot more often than it's been low.

The highest it's been was 186 a couple of times, and the lowest was 99. It's averaging about 140 over the last 10 days. I think I'm going to try to get in to see the Dr. as soon as possible.

I may be wrong, but I think I'll feel better when my sugar is controlled, and I think they'll probably start me on one of the sugar pills. It's not running high enough to need insulin to control it, which is a blessing. I'm truly thankful it's not that bad yet, and I hope and pray it never gets that bad. I fear it might though if I don't get it under control now, before it does get that bad.My computer is beginning to give me some problems lately. I've had it for 2 years and it was given to me by a dear friend. It's a 2002 Windows XP version and it's served my friend and now me very well, but it's beginning to show signs of its age.

It's locked up on me several times lately and I've had to just turn it off at the surge protector power strip I have it plugged into. I run my antivirus program regularly, have 2 firewalls active and run anti spyware and defragment my hard drive often.

I know my machine and I know it's nearing the end of its usefulness. Compared to the current laptops and computers mine is like a 1975 AMC*Pacer compared to a 2008 Ferrari*Scuderia.

It still gets the job done most of the time, but some pages take forever to load and it's beginning to hiccup from time to time. Not any major failures yet, but 6 years old for a computer is practically ancient. For now it's still plugging along and I'll keep petting it and ride it until it's on its last leg, figuratively speaking. It's been a good computer but I'll be looking for a good deal on a new or good used one.

One thing I dread is that I'll probably have to get used to *Vista*. So far the bad things I've heard about *Vista* far outweighs the good things I've heard about it. And before anyone suggests buying a computer with *Vista*, then removing it and and reloading Win XP on it, I've already been looking into that.

One thing that's not so good about that is all the auxiliary components will be going to *Vista* too, so if you have Win XP loaded on your computer but your printer or other accessory bites it, what if all the newer printers and other accessories are only compatible with *Vista*?

It's all a big headache, to be sure. What a technological minefield! And if I follow my usual modus operandi, I'll step in it, or on it, as it were. Phooey! There now, was that random enough for you? I don't know about y'all, but I think that's about all the random rambling I can stand for now.

Y'all have a fabulous Friday.

Hurray for the new camera, and sad, sad that the computer is apparently on it's last leg. Sounds like you really are squeezing every ounce of life out of it. I'm encouraged to see that computers are actually getting cheaper and cheaper all the time. Hopefully there's another one out there for you, and you can manage to fight through the transition of a new operating system. I know my Mom hated it!

Yay for the new camera! Have you realized how much Emmy looks like Jessica? What killer eyelashes! My stepson has lashes like that - it's just not fair!

Diane, I'm glad that you got your new camera in...hope it give you a long life...Please don't try to kill it.

When JJ was Emily's age, he was eating everything from the table. He no longer wanted anything to do with "baby" food. He loves vegetables and likes it when we have salad. I just wish Jennifer would not feed him so much junk food. She goes for the easy stuff and a lot of times, that includes mac and cheese, hot dogs, etc.

When TF's laptop got stolen last year, he ordered his new computer from Dell so that he could keep Windows XP. He had heard the horror stories about Vista and didn't want anything to do with it. Some of his locksmith programs did not work with Vista so he wanted to stay with XP as long as he could. So far, so good.

Once again, do everything you can to regulate your blood sugar naturally. I'll email you some information.....

Eyelashes - the twins' are gorgeous. Mine are so spindly. Not fair.

I have Vista and have had no problems whatsoever. I can't even tell the difference, really. I'm hoping to get Word on my laptop soon - I can still get a good deal at the university.

What in the world is Vista! Is that something a Mac girl would not know about? I LOVE MY MAC!!! No viruses to worry about and easy to use!

I'm trying to catch up today. A lot has been going on while I have been on leave/vacation/sabbatical/ whatever.

When did that Emmy girl grow up?!! OH! MY! WORD! She is still a beauty, of course. But, she's so tall, and walking around, eating real food, and everything! I feel like I missed out--I will definitely have to go back and read a lot. I'm sure there are pictures!

Ramble on, Sweetie. We read every word. I think the camera takes nicer pictures than the other one from what I can see. It's probably been improved upon since your other one. And Emmy looks wonderful. So healthy and happy. Kids always look great to me with little tanned bodies and sun-bleached hair!
Forget the recipes. Last time I went in there, I had to go get a midnight snack. Quite a large one, in fact.
I do know for sure that you'll feel better when your sugar is under control. And my diabetic friend had her sugar to return to normal just by eating according to Thurmond's 6-week makeover diet. I hope you can control yours with the right foods.
Here's a computer question. Why 2 firewalls? I've found that some of the things I've done to protect my computer have actually caused more problems. Do you have a "geek" in the family? (We have two, and they are precious. Between the two of them they know it all.) And what is Vista?
Ok, there are my rambling responses. God bless you all over there in Arkansas.
Love,
Nancy

My kids are always telling me we need a new less "ghetto" computer. Oh well.

I can just imagine how pleased and happy you are with your new camera! I'm happy for you!

Emmy sounds as if she can eat 99% from the table now. She will sprout up so fast then, or so it seems, once they get off that baby food.

I, too, am dreading having to get Vista on my next computer. Can't win, can we?

I enjoy your ramblings! So ramble on anytime, my dear girl, as I love reading anything you write!

Have a great weekend now!

Emmy is such a lil smoochy face!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Take heart on your ramblins. I have promised myself and you all too that I was going to try to keep my blogs short and sweet, but maybe only one or two made it that way. I think I am only writing a bit, but alas, when I reread it, I can't believe how long it is and I am surprised that other's even take the time to read it at all.
Good stuff though!

Diane,

I'm so glad that the benefactor was able to help you get a new camera. That is fabulous. Enjoy it. It takes great photos. I like my Kod*k Easy Sh*re a lot. They are easy to use and mine takes great photos most of the time.

Grandma and Mom used to make homemade ketchup and it is delicious. I haven't made it in years.

Enjoyed the photos of Emmy. Please make an appointment and get your blood sugar levels under control. Mine have been a bit high but that is because of the infection in my ears, the pain (stress can make sugar levels go up) and also because with the renovations, I just grab a quick bite to eat. I really must get mine back in sync.

Take care and have a great weekend.
Blessings,
Mary

I know, aren't the days just flying by lately? It seems like it's Monday and then I blink and it's Friday!!!

Woohoo, good for you for getting your new camera! It does take beautiful pictures...Emmy is so adorable and I can't get over how fast she's growing. Glad to hear she's a good eater...so many kids are picky eaters.

Also good to hear that you're starting to feel better. As you say, if you watch what you eat and get your blood sugar under control you'll notice a big difference.

My computer is over 7 years old and I'm surprised that it's still working! lol I added more memory to it this winter and it's been working fine since then. I, too, have heard horrible stories about Vista...I guess I'll have that to look forward to one of these days too! Ugh!

Have a terrific weekend my friend. xoxo

Hi Diane,

I'm excited for you that you have received your camera. It takes good pictures. That Emmy!!! She sure does have long eye lashes, doesn't she!!! I'm jealous.

I didn't know you are diabetic or if I did I had forgotten. You have a lot to be thankful for in that you don't have to take insulin shots like Ed. Ed takes 3 insulin shots a day. Poor thing.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Stay cool.

Hugs,
Betty

I love it when you ramble! It's like chatting with an old friend!

Emmy is so cute! Her eyelashes are beautiful. She would have so much fun with Winnie! Glad you got your new camera so you can show off Emmy more!

Good luck with your computer. I hate it when mine acts up!

Stay cool and take of that blood sugar!

Hi Diane,
I always enjoy your nice newsy posts!
So glad to hear that you got your new camera. Emmy posed so pretty for you.
My computer is Vista, and I must say we took a while to become acquainted, but we're pals now.
(I have heard stories though!!)
Watch that blood sugar level. Stress and worry can make it go up too..
xoxo

I love ramblings too. And the camera is working well! Great photos!

I have Vista and have not had any problems. To get our old printer to hook up, I just went to the HP website and downloaded the necessary drivers and all was fine. Word loaded fine, and we were all set! Vista also has some great new features, so that is good.

But please tell me you have a portable hard drive and have backed up all your files and photos - I don't want to think of the chance of losing all! I do this regularly, and at least I know all will not be lost. If your computer is showing signs of misbehaving, back it up ! Now! Fast!
Have a great weekend!

Hi Diane! Love this post. And yes, I must agree with you about Emmy's eyelashes! She's a knock out gorgeous kid...just wait 'til she a teenager. The boys'll be knocking down the doors to look into those beautiful eyes of hers. [My hubby has very LONG eyelashes, and I'm still to this day so jealous!]

As for her hairdo...it's adorable. I could go for the Einstein look myself.

And then, Vista. I have used it on my computer now for a little over 6 months, and at first I didn't like it...but stayed with it, now I wouldn't trade it for XP. It's better in my opinion. It's just getting used to it is all. And my scanner/printer wasn't compatible with Vista, but all I did was go out on the 'net and get a new driver [free to download] and it works like a charm.

Hey Diane,
It's so nice to get caught up with you. I'm glad you finally got your camera. I always enjoy seeing pictures of that sweet little bundle.
I hope you can get in to see the doctor soon Diane. Having lived with Type 1 diabetes (my husband) for over forty years, I can assure you that you will feel much, much better once you get your sugar under good control.
I will be interested to see what you decide about the computer. I'm saving a little each month for the time when my computer gives up the ghost. I've wondered about Vista and heard all the same things you have. I just want things to be simple and easy. I dread having to learn a whole bunch of new stuff. My daughter recently bought a refurbished laptop to take to Europe with her. It's a Dell, but I'm not sure if it has Vista. I'll have to ask her.
Have a blessed weekend dear friend.

Good news on the camera. I have Vista on my laptop and it isn't too bad, although it is a lot different and some XP programs will not work on Vista. I really prefer XP but then it took me a long time to get over DOS and move to Windows. You tend to like what you know and are used to.

I am so glad to hear that the camera is in your loving hands and already hard at work snapping those pictures of Miss Emmy. She is a doll baby!

Seth is now on all table food. He was down to just a bottle at bed time. They have been on vacation all week and he kicked the habit while they were gone. Every one got tanned on the beach but Seth. He is a milky white as a marshmellow. They should be home tomorrow some time....YEA!!! I sure have missed those stinkers.

We had to go to Vista and at first I really had some issues with it and it with me, but now that we are settled in together for nine months now, I like it just as much as I did xp.

You have a great weekend... at least what is left of it and I will be keeping Jess in my prayers.
