weeks before the official arrival of Spring,
we got a big snow. Well, big for us here in
Northeast Arkansas.
As of right now, at about 8:30 pm local time,
we've got about 5 inches of wet fluffy snow on
the ground. I took several pictures to share
and I'll post them and just ramble in between
pics. I hope that works for you. ;-)Getting bundled up to go out in the snow.
This is Emmy's first real experience with snow.I think she likes it, as you'll see. If you click on
this picture, you'll see that Emmy has a
snowflake in her eyelashes.Emmy's decided she likes this cold white
stuff, but when it gets in your eyelashes
it makes you squint and blink a lot.Hey, that cold white stuff collects on the ground!Oh, boy! You can catch it on your tongue, too!
But for some reason it disappears pretty quick
and it doesn't have much flavor to it.
I love this picture. ;-)It's really difficult to gather enough of this
stuff in your hand for a good mouthful, but
it's worth a try....All wrapped up and strapped in for the ride home.Mom carrying Emmy to the car.
Notice that the parking lot and street is
mostly clear, but the snow is sticking to
the trees, the grass and the cars.Look at the wet, heavy snow clinging to
my flowering quince. And it is indeed
flowering under the snow! And speaking of flowering, my daffodils
have been blooming for several days now.
This is what some of them look
like weighed down with snow.I took some time to chat with a friend on messenger,
so it's now 11:30 pm and the snow is tapering off.
Only a few flurries falling now but we've gotten an
additional inch or more of snow. I'd guess we've gotten
about 6 inches of snow, maybe a little more, because
it's been melting a little here and there.
I made a big bowl of snow cream and hubby and I
feasted, but I forgot to take pictures of it, so it's
now just a happy memory. I was freezing after
my snow cream so I had to take a hot shower
to warm up. It was worth it, though.
This snow is ideal for making snow cream.
It will probably be the last snow cream until next
season unless Mother Nature laughs at us and
sends more snow in the next several weeks.
It's only a few weeks until the official first day
of Spring, but we've had snow well into April
in times past. It doesn't usually last long,
but we've actually gotten some
of our biggest snows in March and April.
Not too many years ago we had a
huge snow on Good Friday. And now that everyone is thoroughly sick
of hearing about snow, I'll post this and
wish everyone a great weekend.
I'll be back Saturday evening for my
Sunday Dinner post, Lord willing.

It IS kinda fun isn't it?
Glad you got some pics and glad Emmy got to experience it! Even if it was in March!
Stay warm, and hey, it doesn't look like the roads are too bad there. That's a good thing!
Good Morning Diane,
I love the SNOW pictures you took. "THANK YOU" For sharing them with us. I must say, my favorite picture is the one with Miss Emmy holding out her tongue. Our girls went out and played in it yesterday for a while. Even my DH went out there to try to make a Snowman, but it was too wet for that. Maybe today they will be able too. I'm not sure if we will get to move or not today. It just depends on what my DH decides when he wakes up. I have charged the batteries for my new camera and I'm planning on taking some pictures with it today. I'm so glad you made some Snow Cream. I may make some today. Could you email me your recipe if you don't mind? I would really appreciate it. I did have a recipe to make it, but I don't know what happened to it. The girls were saying something about me making some late yesterday afternoon. I don't know how much we got here. I'll have to take a ruler out later on and measure it. I went to bed pretty early last night, so I had no idea how long it Snowed. I did look out my front door when I first got up and there is alot out there. I am glad we got some and it just came at the wrong time for me. LOL. I so remember a few years back when we had the Snow on Good Friday. I had a wreck that night. I wasn't hurt too bad, just bruised and sore for a few days. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours. I did put up a new post today and I'm hoping to show some Snow pictures from around here tomorrow.
Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Your job of spreading happiness today is fulfilled.

I only remember snow on time when we lived in Heber and it wreaked havoc on that town full of hills! That was quite a pile you had - we usually get our worst snows in spring as well.
Have a wonderful week-end!
That's awesome, Diane! Glad you had your snow cream! Several years ago we had a huge snowstorm on Easter weekend. My daughter and I build a snowman and then got an Easter basket and made some colored snow 'eggs' to put around the snowman. I guess we figured if you can beat'em join 'em!
Have a great weekend.
That Emmy is growing like a weed now!!
Hey, I've got enough snow to make a couple of gallons of snow cream......
Sigh.................
Hey.. the pics are great!!! Wasn't the snow wonderful?? I loved it... I got a little misty-eyed when I got home last night and was looking out at it.. it makes me think of Mom... it sure was beautiful... until about 12 today and it started turning to sludge!! lol See ya tomorrow.. Love ya.. Cecil...............Sorry I've been MIA on the blog...
i miss snow!!!!!!!
Great pictures! Emmy is a real snow princess!
Our snow was not that pretty. we didn't get enough to cover the grass completely and it melted quickly! This year just seems a bust for snow around here--Of course on the other side of the big city they had several more inches than we did.
We had a snow back in the 90s--about 11 inches I think--that didn't get here until the last week of March. I'm hoping that doesn't happen this year!
Diane, I loved seeing the pictures of you and your family in the snow. I love snow cream, but I didn't make any although we got about 5 inches where I live in Tn. It was the biggest snow we've had in 5 years so they reported on our local news. It didn't stay around long.
Have a good week.
Hi Diane,
I love the snow pics and I love seeing a child's reaction to it. My oldest grandson was afraid of snow!! We still haven't had any amount of the white stuff yet but I remember we got a big one several years back on May 10!! We also had a blizzard here on March 17, 1993. So winter may not be over for us!!
Hugs,
Hope
HEY! What a cute baby!!!!!!:)
