Once again I've neglected my blog and friends are contacting me wondering where I've been. It's even brought some lurkers to the surface to comment (Hi, Tam! I tried to contact you but you don't have a blog or an email listed on your profile).
I don't know if it's Spring fever or the fact that my hubby's brother and his girlfriend will be here visiting from Fort Worth next weekend, but I've been on a cleaning spree this week. I've been busy as the proverbial bee.
I don't often get the urge to clean and most of the time I can subdue it with cookies or cinnamon rolls, but since I've been trying to eat healthier I guess the urge overtook me. Steamed broccoli is apparently not a good preventative against the cleaning urge.
I've been doing a lot of those things that need to be done but nobody notices but you, if you know what I mean.
Wednesday I did 5 loads of laundry and put them away, and also sewed a robe for a male church friend to wear in our Easter program. Then I promptly left it on the couch as I went out the door headed to church. I also cooked supper amidst other things.
Thursday I cleaned the bathroom. Scrubbed the tub and washed the nonslip mat and the bathmat, and scrubbed the sink. I also swept and mopped the floor and put down clean bath rugs, and scrubbed the *commode. (*Toilet to you non-Southerners.)
I also washed some sheets and some other laundry, cooked supper and had Emmy from about 4:30-7 pm.
Today so far I've taken down the drapes in here in my computer room and hung up new ones, and did some sorting, rearranging and chucked some stuff in the trash. I still need to do quite a bit more of that in here. I'm going to try to get to that sometime in the next several days if I don't manage to fight off this cleaning urge.
I've also cooked supper (Ge*rge F*reman grilled pork steak, speckled butterbeans and the aforementioned steamed broccoli) and had Emmy for several hours until her Daddy picked her up, and cleaned the litter pan for my 2 kitties. Hope that's not too much information for y'all.
As soon as I post this I'm going to sweep and mop my kitchen and utility room floors and while the floor is drying I'll clean off my end tables in the living room and clean the bird cage and give Ed the zebra finch some fresh food and water. Nothing like fresh newspaper to look at before you poop on it I guess.
When I have a little free time or take a break from cleaning I'm either in here reading and commenting on blogs or crocheting. I'm working on another full sized afghan for a friend.
We're forecast to have some bad storms moving in after midnight, so we may be dodging tornadoes later. Texarkana and Arkadelphia already have tornado warnings as I'm typing this. I hope and pray it's not too bad this time.
I'll have Emmy all day Saturday so I don't know how much cleaning I'll accomplish but I'm going to try to get some other things done. I know I still have some bed clothes that need laundering. Lord willing I'll be back to do my Sunday Dinner post on Saturday evening. As of right now I have no idea what I might be cooking. Hopefully inspiration will strike me sometime between now and time to cook and post about it.
Y'all have a great weekend, y'hear?

Hey,

Hi Diane! I'm trying to catch up on my blog reading and commenting.
Sounds like you truly are busy as a bee. I know what you mean. Sometimes it's hard to blog and trying to read everyone's posts and comment...takes a lot of time!!
I do hope the storms missed you. I think next week we might be in line again for rougher weather. Not good news, but we'll have to wait and see what happens.
I wondered where you'd been. I seldom get bitten by any sort of bug that involves work!
Diane,
You have been cleaning up a storm. Where did you get all that energy? Can you send some up here to Ontario? I could sure use some of it.
After all of that and keeping Emmy on Saturday, I would say a slow cooker recipe is in order for Sunday dinner so you can have a rest.
Enjoyed my visit, as always.
Blessings for a great weekend.
Mary
Sounds like you have been in spring cleaning mode...I need a little bit of motivation to do just that here at my house. I think if you were here making me some homemade cinnamon rolls it would help.
;-)
Diane: If anybody can "bring lurkers to the surface" it;s you with that infectious smile and great cooking! It is obvious how proud you are of sweet Emmy! :)
No storms here, but we saw on the weather where it was bad your way. We drove right through Texarkana and Arkadelphia last night when it was supposed to be so bad and didn't even know it. My Dad was so glad when we pulled up in the driveway safe. Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Diane, wow, just reading about your housecleaning has made me tired! I'm gonna take a nap! It does feel good when we get so much accomplished, doesn't it?
Stay safe. God bless!
Brenda
Yea, you certainly are a busy bee, but thanks for keeping us posted anyway!
Hope the weather isn't too bad this weekend and I wish you a good one!
Hugs from me and Diane :-)
I wish such an urge to clean would hit me! :-)
Hope the weather isn't too bad this weekend, Diane. What do people do when there's a tornado? Of course, I picture people running for the cellar, like in The Wizard of Oz. We just don't have weather like that up here in New York.
Have a great weekend, Diane! Hope Emmy doesn't wear you out too much! :-)
Diane, you are one busy woman. Having company come for a visit always gets me going cleaning and trying to get my house in order. The company comes in and it gets messed up again. No end to it.
Your weather and mine is usually about the same. Last night we had thunder and lightening and rain of course. Don't think we got any hail.
Have a good Sunday.
Hugs,
Betty
Thank you for the update and glad to know everything is going well for you. Dont work yourself to death, but you will feel so much better getting it out of the way so you can play more. Tam
Diane - I so appreciate it every time you have a new post! You've become part of my regular blog reads!
Hi Diane, Thanks for coming by and sharing some of your family background. We may be related in some remote, Irish way! Hope your new eating plan is working out well for you. I'm doing pretty well on mine.
Love,
Nancy
I have no room to talk about being a lousy visitor. I'm so far behind.
Bloglines has been acting up, my browser, doesn't go where I aim it, and the weather has been so nice I've spent some time enjoying it instead of hanging out in here.
I'll try to do better. Meantime, love to you and your sisters.
