If I Had A Title, It Would Go Here

So, wanna see what my week
has consisted of up until now?
In pictures?
Okay....

My little princess in her Sunday dress.Emmy and Grandpa.
There was some napping.....
Jessica and Emmy as she was picking
Emmy up at the end of the day.
Emmy is holding her head up all the time,
and is holding her weight on her legs
for several minutes at a time.
She's getting to be a big girl!Emmy's Mama bought her a colorful
hippo floor mobile, and Emmy loves it...
Loves it....LOVES IT!
Although Grandma has it on the bed
instead of the floor at the moment.
For some reason, the floor is farther away
now than it was when Jessica was a baby.

Hmmmm.....???
And some more napping.
I took this about 10 minutes ago,
right before I started typing this post.
This is the reason I have a few minutes
to blog, although I have no idea how long
it will last. Emmy sleeps anywhere from
5 minutes to 3 hours at a time, but usually

during the afternoon it's more in the
5 minutes to an hour range.
I mentioned in my last post that I knew someone else had given me the Reflective Blogger award and it had completely slipped my mind who had honored me. BARB AT A CHELSEA MORNING reminded me that she had given me the award several weeks back.

Thank you so much for recognizing me with this award, Barb. Your opinion and respect mean a lot to me, dear friend. My forgetfulness truly doesn't reflect the love and respect I have for you.

I am so sorry, Barb, that I failed to acknowledge your award to me. The only excuses I have are old age combined with having a 11 week old baby here 12 hours a day. Thank you for being so gracious in reminding me about this, and for not being offended by my absent mindedness.

I know you understand, and just think, next Spring you'll have another newborn grandbaby to care for! Somehow I think that you might be experiencing a dearth of properly functioning brain cells and a loss of short term memory soon after that baby arrives. And you'll have a 2 year old as well!

My dear blogging friend, CONNIE, aka MEOW, was kind enough to award me the Creative Blogger award. Thank you so much, Connie! I don't know that I'm all that creative, but I do appreciate that you think so and I'm honored that you feel I'm worthy of the award. Thank you so much, my friend. :-)
My mailman delivered a surprise package to me Monday. I wasn't really expecting anything and the generous gift card in the pretty presentation card addressed to Emmy was both a surprise and a blessing!

I won't reveal the exact amount because that would be just so tacky! It would be tacky, tacky, tacky! But whomever our anonymous benefactor might be, be assured that we are very thankful for your sweet gift.

As soon as Walmart puts out some pretty dresses and such for Fall we will put that gift card to good use. I looked for some nice dresses for Emmy when I was at Walmart Tuesday, but all they have are every day sundresses and onesies, and would you believe, they already have sweatsuits, sweaters and winter stuff out? Not a pretty Sunday dress in sight!

So I'll put that gift card away until I can find some pretty things for Miss Emmy, then I'll post pictures on the blog so you'll know that your sweet gift was used as you intended it to be. Thank you again, dear Anonymous Benefactor. :-)
Even though it's 95* I'm craving something hearty and filling, so I'm thinking I'm going to make a big pot of deer chili for supper tonight, and big cast iron skillet of buttermilk cornbread. I'll make enough for Jessica and Jason's supper while I'm at it. It doesn't take any more time or effort to make a double batch than it does to make a single batch. If Jessica doesn't want to take some home with her it will freeze well and be good for a quick meal another time.
I'm going to go see about getting my chili started, so I'll wish everyone a great Thursday afternoon.

Hi Diane, What a sweet little smile on that adorable baby. She seems to grow a little bit every time I see new picutres. You're dong a great job Grandma - forgetfulness or not. I can't tell you the number of things I've forgotten lately. I really scare myself sometimes, and I don't have caring for an infant to blame it on!!
Congratulations on your awards - you absolutely deserve both of them. I think your blog alone is very creative. I love reading your posts.
Thank you for praying for my Dad. The doctor says it is bronchitis that has just gotten so bad it has caused a bacterial infection. He gave him four different perscriptions, and we're praying that will do the trick. Your prayers mean the world to me. Thank you so very much dear friend.

They grow so fast. And grow UP so fast. I was only gone a week, and Livi was different when I got back - more conversation, more thinking things through. Such fun!

So, buddy, what time should I be there for dinner??? Emmy is precious in her Sunday dress!! You think Wal-Mart is bad for girl dress clothes, try looking for nice dress clothes for a boy. I get mad every time I go looking for a nice outfit for the boys as THERE ARE NONE!! ever. All the dresses in the world but not one little suit or dressy slacks outfit to be found. aarrrghh!

Emmy's pictures are just precious. I love how sweet babies hands are. SHe is definitely a happy little one.
Congrat's on the awards Diane. You do such a nice job you really deserve them. I'm thinking you really deserve a grandma award too. One of these days your sweet Emmy will take care of that.
Cornbread sounds like something I really need. Maybe tomorrow I will get the cast Iron skillet out and get to it. I like to put some cream style corn in mine to keep it moist. YUM!!
Blessings

Darn it, Diane, you've gone and made me a big fat liar. I've always told my daughter that I'd never, ever put any pressure on her to make me a grandma, but I've just changed my mind! That last, life-sized photo did it. When I enlarged it, I wanted Miss Emmy to wake up so I could reach through the screen and pick her up for a little cuddle. She is SO beautiful!! Yup, I definitely gotta get me one of those some day. :D

As someone already mentioned, baby fingers are adorable. But if you take requests, Grandma, could you please show us some baby toes? Pretty please, with sugar on top? Toes are just the ultimate baby fix for me, even more so than baby cheeks. Which are pretty irresistable, too, of course, but yup, it's the toes that just really send me over the edge. :)

Have a great Friday, my friend! xxoo

Oh Diane, Thanks so much for posting these adorable photos of Emmy! She is going to have so many pictures of her time spent with Grandma!!! She is beautiful! Keep 'em comin!

Deer Chili? I've never heard of such a dish! Is there anything green in it!?!? It sounds simply--enticing! It must be really good that you are making it in the 95 degree heat!

It should be noted, we are having a heat spell in Minnesota as well! Yes, I said Minnesota and heat spell in the same sentence. Unfortunately, with the heat we are also enduring a season of drought. Cities have watering prohibitions, and lawns are looking a little thirsty! Fortunately, we have a well where we live, however, I don't want to be a hog--and use all the water resources. I guess there are worse things than a brown lawn. It is the farmers who have the most to lose at such a time as this.

It is a weird weather system we are living with.....it won't stop raining south of us in Texas....and it won't start raining here!

I'm so glad that you are enjoying this time with Emmy...not only is she beautiful...she is one lucky little girl!

Oh my goodness, Diane, I never gave it a thought. I have soooo been where you're at right now and I'm heading right back there next March. LOL I have my pink bucket handy, the one I'll be carrying my thoughts around in.

Believe me, I know how your days are. You love it but it's exhausting. Cameron's napping right now and after being in the yard with him all morning, I have just about enough energy to type.

That baby is as precious as she can be. I love that laughing little face looking up and her new play pretty. Sweet, sweet.

Not to worry. To be perfectly honest with you, I'd have forgotten all about it if you hadn't mentioned it. 'Cause my days are full of a two year old. LOL
