Sunday Dinner, April 15, 2007

Before I get to my regular Sunday Dinner post, I want to share some news about Heather. You may remember that I posted a bit about her this past Wednesday, and that she just found out she has a brain tumor.

You might also notice that I have a new button in my sidebar like the one to the left.

BooMama is sponsoring a fundraiser for dear Heather to help
with her expenses. She will be going to Rochester, Minnesota to the Mayo Clinic soon for a consultation with some of the best doctors in their field regarding her brain tumor. Just click on either button to be sent to BooMama's blog for the details.

Even if you're not able to support her financially, Heather covets and appreciates your prayers.

Thanks again for all your comments and for your prayers for Heather, y'all.
It's gonna be just good ol' Southern home cookin' for my Sunday dinner this week. As I type this I have 2 dozen eggs that I boiled and that are cooling in the sink. I'm going to peel them and devil them for dinner, and I'm going to cook a big pot of white beans with a chunk of lean salt pork.

I'm also making 2 big cast iron skillets of my homemade pan bread. The last several times I've made it for Sunday Dinner every last bite was eaten, and I thought there was going to be bloodshed over the last wedge!

I think I've told you that my pan bread is just buttermilk biscuit dough with an egg stirred into it and I bake it in a cast iron skillet. It's good stuff! If you've never tried it before, you really should. It goes great with beans, either pintos or white beans.

***UPDATED TO ADD:

I added the recipe for my Pan Bread to
my Recipe Blog for those who
might be interested.

Unless I get a wild hair for something else, that's the complete menu for my Sunday Dinner. Of course if more show up for dinner than I'm expecting I'll open some cans or something of that nature. There always seems to be enough, somehow.

Now it's your turn. What are your plans? What's on the menu at your place? Or if you're going to Mom's or Grandma's, what's she cookin'? Are you planning to eat out for dinner? Where and what do you plan to order?

Just leave a comment and share your plans for Sunday Dinner.

Gotta go peel those eggs and devil them, and start my beans for tomorrow.

I pray for each of you, my dear family and friends, that God will meet all your needs, and that you'll have enough to share with someone else.

All my love,

We're going to our daughter's for dinner tomorrow. I'm not sure what the menu is, but I'm bringing dessert. I'll be sharing the recipe if it's a "keeper"
love and hugs!!

Right now it looks like pork bbq, baked beans (from a can this time), rice, and maybe corn bread if I'm feeling ambitious.

Or I might try your pan bread. It sounds good.

Your dinner sounds so good! I love deviled eggs. We have no plans yet, but I really don't want to cook because my kitchen is clean, and I'd like to keep it that way for a while.

Your fishing photos are great! I'm wishing we had gone digital when we bought our camera. It sure would make it easier to post photos more often.

Thanks for visiting my store! I've been lurking more than commenting lately because of my time spent there, but once I get the hang of it, I'll be doing more blogging and commenting.

Have a blessed day!

Good grief. What store is Brenda talking about? I'm headed over there next but I'm pretty sure bloglines is being selective about showing me new posts again.

You already know we're having hamburgers on the grill tonight. Didn't get to the yardwork today - got sidetracked - but I don't have Cameron again until Wednesday so I'll be out there tomorrow. Your pan bread sounds really good.

I wish I had a cast iron skillet!

Today we had lasagna and that was about it. It got cooked too much, which is weird because I did the same as always. But they liked it anyway. As Linda, I am burdened down today with the prayer request I mentioned in my last ppost. Thanks so much for stopping by Kev's and my latest edition!

Now that cornbread is pretty much like I make it. My Mom taught me how to make good cornbread and getting that skillet and oil hot is one of the main things for that wonderful crust!! Yum!! Making me hungry Diane!!!

I'm with Pea. I want to come and eat with you!!!

Wouldn't it be something! If everyone who has stormed the gates of heaven praying for Heather...and tomorrow, clicking our way to Pay Pal--reverberating our way through cyberspace...to bless Heather, wouldn't it just be grand to all meet one day.....and do the YAY!
