Sunday Dinner, Christmas Eve, 2006

This will be short but sweet, folks. I just got home from my sister Cecil's Christmas party a few hours ago, and I'm still stuffed to the gills. It was good, lots of goodies to choose from. But for tomorrow, I think we're having fried baloney sandwiches again. Yes, again. I love all that rich stuff and it's a treat to have it, but now I'm ready for a good ol' fried baloney sandwich. I think it's just going to be me and Lamar, Jessica, Jason and possibly Cecil for lunch tomorrow, so I'm not going to cook a big meal, especially with Christmas Dinner coming up on Monday.

And I think we're going to make sandwiches out of the ham that Ducky is bringing for Christmas dinner. There's only so much junk and sweets I can tolerate, then I want some REAL FOOD. I'm thinking I'll make some devilled eggs and some homemade potato salad and I may even rake up something else, and tell the sisters and family that are going to be here, "If you want something else, bring it." I have my ch
eesecake and my Italian Cream cake made, along with all the candy and goodies I mentioned in earlier posts, so I think we're set for candy and desserts.

Today's our family get together so we're having our Christmas feast. For the first time ever, I decided to do an open house type buffet. Bakes a ham and roasted a little turkey and sliced them up. I'm just setting out all the makings for little sandwiches, chips, a vegetable platter, cocktail shrim, pinwheels and relishes. Oh, and tons of goodies, too.

Have a wonderful Christmas, Diane. What a blessing you've been to me. You're the most real and down to earth person I've met since I started this blog. I look forward to continuing on, getting to know you even better, in 2007.

Well Miz Diane...my Hubby got out and scouted out a little place in the country here that had some "real" pulled pork barb-b-q!!
I can't wait to make a sandwich with slaw on top and all the little snacky things to go with it...and oh btw...I'm making your Crock Pot Chicken and Dressing tomorrow...I can't wait for that either!!

Hi Diane!

It's an old buddy who's been MIA for a while. Ryan fixed my computer while he was in town, so I'm back online. Yay! I just wanted to stop by and wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas. I love the wedding pictures- Jessica looks so pretty!

You've been up to the same thing as me, I see; cooking, cooking, and more cooking! I have to make a hashbrown casserole when I get off the computer, and then I'll finally be done.

The best new recipe I tried lately are turtles made with a pretzel, a melted Rolo chocolate, and a pecan half. You just put the pretzels on a cookie sheet, melt the Rolos on top @about 250 degrees for a few minutes, and then press a pecan on top of each one. They're yummy, pretty, and easy, too!

It's 5:00 Christmas Eve. I've made rolls (well, thawed and baked the frozen ones - being lazy today), raspberry salad, and am trying a new microwave scalloped potato recipe. We're headed for D's sister's place for ham and I don't know what else. That's the joy of having the meal somewhere else!

Tomorrow morning we'll have brunch here with bacon and egg casserole and my famous caramel rolls (have to mix them up tonight). In the evening, I plan to make Swedish meatballs for anyone who's still around.

It's been such fun getting to know each other this last six months. Have a blessed Christmas and a super 2007 (the year of the Grandma!).

I had salami, cheese and crackers and cran-raspberry juice for Christmas Eve supper. Not very healthy for sure. But I've been eating on a big kettle of homemade veggie, beef soup for a few days, so I thought I could splurge a bit.
Christmas day dinner will be at my youngest daughters where we all bring food for a traditional turkey, stuffing, ham, mashed potatoes, etc., dinner.
I made two pumpkin pies and two blackberry cream pies today to take, also I made myself a small wild blackberry pie. These berries are native here, grow low to the ground and are very small, but the flavor will knock your sox off!

Can I post late? We had the usual - turkey, dressing, potatoes, gravy with giblets, green bean casserole, cranberries, rolls, and apple and pumpkin pie. Yummy! Now we're about out of leftovers and I'm thinking ham casserole with deviled eggs sounds good for tonight. Normal food sounds good after awhile, and we have enough frozen turkey and ham to eat for two weeks - fortunately or unfortunately.
