Just noticed this is last week's post.

Anyhow, girls will be dining with us as far as I know so we'll have favorites. Baked chicken (almost like fried), broccoli, baked sweet potatoes, maybe a salad, and homemade date nut bread.

Orange jello with mandarin oranges in it for dessert? Probably.

Life is chaotic at the moment (when isn't it?). I'll try to get an email out today or tomorrow.

Hugs,Grannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17283823157675990935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21736979.post-77128581637828759272008-09-12T21:54:00.000-05:002008-09-12T21:54:00.000-05:00Gee, I don't know whether to respond about last Su...Gee, I don't know whether to respond about last Sunday's dinner or the one this Sunday since it is closer. It's more Japanese-themed; I always get some kind of chicken because I don't like seafood. They have the exact soup that you described! It does have a good taste though. I bet yours is delicious!

Your description of that soup is hilarious! It certainly sounds yucky!

I love that you'll hang out at Barnes and Noble and read the same book to finish it! That's so smart! I remember one cold winter day when I was living in Brooklyn my mom came to visit me and we needed something to do, outside my apartment. We headed for Barnes and Noble and spent the day in their cafe, playing Scrabble. Your description of reading there made me think of that winter day years ago.

Have a great week, Diane!

Love,
SammySamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13069417648988456196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21736979.post-51089078131122291412008-09-08T16:11:00.000-05:002008-09-08T16:11:00.000-05:00Hi Diane - new to your blog, but loved reading you...Hi Diane - new to your blog, but loved reading your posts! If there's any leftovers, I'm comin' right over! hehe I cooked a roast pork, garden fresh potatoes, yellow string beans and carrots for our dinner last night.

Glad you were able to have a fun afternoon with Cecil and Sue:-) I'm not fond of Japanese/Thai food but it sounds like you really enjoyed your meal there...I'm still giggling at the "no chicken was harmed in the making of the soup"! LOL

I just read your previous post and had to smile because my daughter in law Wendy is somewhat like you, she can't stand any kind of sauce/gravy/syrup touching any of her other foods so if she's having pancakes with syrup, it must be on a separate plate from her eggs, bacon, etc. Same with gravy, it all has to be on separate plates!!

Hope you're doing well my friend! xoxoCarole Buranthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05497329055251626140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21736979.post-63156883103008275982008-09-08T05:25:00.000-05:002008-09-08T05:25:00.000-05:00I have read all your posts that I missed. I guess I'll have to buy some ground beef and make my own. I love meatloaf sandwiches with catsup too.

Today I was at the memorial service for my friends son, Jesse. I have never seen so many people at a service before. Hundreds. It was a potluck although salmon and dungeness crab were provided and drinks were donated by a local beverage company.
I ate half a crab, a bit of delish macaroni salad, a small piece of barbequed salmon,a big strawberry, fry bread and some snicker salad. Then had a tiny piece of carrot cake and half a chocolate chip cookie.
I have never made stewed potatoes before. I will have to try it.
I hope you have had a wonderful week end and Pray the week ahead will bless you.
LoveMountain Mamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05484592294033354129noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21736979.post-65633510659527201872008-09-07T13:56:00.001-05:002008-09-07T13:56:00.001-05:00I always love your Sunday dinner menus. Now that you mention meat loaf, I must make it sometime soon. I love it with mashed potatoes and gravy!

You say: "Asking me and Lamar if we'd like to go eat is akin to asking if we'd like to keep breathing, so of course we accepted." ---I had to laugh at that comment, 'cause that would be MY thoughts too.

But, but...you didn't say what book you're reading.
